In all seriousness though, FGO once it gets going ranges from generally fun stories to some of the best shit Nasu has written along with the VNs that made his company have the name and legacy it has now. Lostbelt 6 is legitimately an amazing story in its own right and it genuinely makes me sad that it's eternally locked behind about 50 hours of other chapters that start of dogass and end up pretty good but not god tier until LB6.

There's a huge difference between a character going out in a heroic blaze of glory as a sacrifice to save the ones they love and some character blowing their brains out or getting brutalized, both out of nowhere. Polarized Light was great aside from its rushed ending (They later redid the whole ending).
But no, it for the most part goes downhill from there with a notable exception in Poincaré Recurrence and maybe a couple others. Cartesian Theatre was where it started spiraling down as they had to adapt the whole story to fit Reverse Collapse's release.

I don't get why the Fate/Grand Order Babylonia anime is considered bad by some. At worst its missing a few minor scenes, but it takes a good story and adapts it pretty well, and can be watched with minimal context from the previous chapters too, has some awesome animation in places and does the characters justice.

I DO get why the Camelot movies are considered bad - those are heavily cut down story wise to the point that without the original version as context they're hard to follow for anything other than Bedivere's personal story, and that it was basically just an excuse to animate the cool moments.

The beginning of the story is so generic and so rushed it's hard to see how people actually care for any of the characters they set up to be main players in the story. Around the 20s it gets fairly interesting dipping back and forth until what we have now, but the time investment to get to that point isn't really all that worth it if you're just purely in it for story stuff. You're better off watching it on youtube. Some of the event stories are truly really good, but again if you're a newer player you miss a lot of those and have to find out what exactly you're not seeing.

Also they're equally afraid and not afraid of killing characters off. You can see how much they pussy around with a lot of characters that should just be dead. There are entire long segments of the game's release cycle where it's just a constant bait and switch between characters about to die but uh oh they actually do the needful and power up!?!? It's not exactly compelling stuff but what's there is easily better than most other gacha stories. For example, anything Hoyo starts off either interesting or whatever, and it ends up being dragged on for so long everything else feels like zero passion filler until you wonder why you're even there. Then there's the hyper autistic epic sized stories of Arknights and GFL that require you to be invested to get anything out of it.

I always see Priconne tauted as one of the great gacha to anime adaptions and I watched it and it IS fun, but it seems like an extremely straight forward form of adaption for the format. It sets up the base story, has a few episodic adventures with characters of the week, and then resolves with a notable but inconclusive ending that doesn't move the characters forward.

It's fun, well animated and has fantastic music (I can complement Kohei Tanaka for fucking hours, trust me). But as far as the writing goes its about as bog standard an adaption as it gets and if you're going by animation and music being good, that doesn't put it much higher up than things like the Granblue anime that are generally considering "okay" and not great.

Shuten/Kintoki is an interesting dynamic in the context of the Heian era cast too. Shuten being a self-serving violent oni with a thing for the innocent heroic guy, and said innocent heroic guy having Raikou as an adoptive mother, with Raikou and Shuten being rivals, is actively interesting I'd say.

It's because those deaths are recent and it's been a source of costant arguments between fans who think this is a great thing and those that think it's a dogshit decision they want reversed yesterday.
Also every other kino moment either requires context to understand or it feature harem/coomer elements (and those people are obsessed in trying to sell it as "not just a coomer game", so they avoid them), so they default with "it's depressing and shit".
