Around the 20s it gets fairly interesting dipping back and forth until what we have now, but the time investment to get to that point isn't really all that worth it if you're just purely in it for story stuff. You're better off watching it on youtube. Some of the event stories are truly really good, but again if you're a newer player you miss a lot of those and have to find out what exactly you're not seeing.Also they're equally afraid and not afraid of killing characters off. You can see how much they pussy around with a lot of characters that should just be dead. There are entire long segments of the game's release cycle where it's just a constant bait and switch between characters about to die but uh oh they actually do the needful and power up!?!? It's not exactly compelling stuff but what's there is easily better than most other gacha stories. For example, anything Hoyo starts off either interesting or whatever, and it ends up being dragged on for so long everything else feels like zero passion filler until you wonder why you're even there. Then there's the hyper autistic epic sized stories of Arknights and GFL that require you to be invested to get anything out of it.
