solid but not nearly as great as people make them out to be
there's a couple of REALLY good scenes that elevate them
but otherwise
the characters aren't fleshed out very well because, just like chrono cross, there are too many characters and they peanut buttered the available dialogue for around 15 instead of focusing on a key few
