What are the odds of a release in January?
>>7294070090
There haven't been any leaks to suggest it, but that doesn't mean much, valve probably has them shipped direct to their warehouses where they store decks and stuff.I'd expect it to be something to come out alongside the steam machine, not ahead of it, just based on how other systems do things. There's not a lot they need to publicly test the controller with an earlier release, nothing in it is really new, so I don't think that would be a reason they might do it.I don't think I'll get one but if people like them sure, I just hate the trackpads, the one thing I pretty much never touch on my deck cause they're so shit and useless for 99.99999999999999% of games I play.
the price of ram is gonna turn these units that are already ready to ship into a fucking giveaway or something
>>729408123it's funny cause everyone was kvetching about the steam machines probably being around $600 or $700, and now that seems like a reasonable price. I wonder if valve saw the writing ahead of time like sony did.
>>729407009I don't get why they can't just release this already. It seems like they have it ready and want to release at the same time as the cube and frame. But I just don't see the cube or frame being more popular than this, and Valve has to know that too, so why delay a primary product for a secondary product?
>>729409172because the last steam controller was a complete and total failure by every conceivable metric, probably.
>>729407009will it help them count to three?if not, they are in trouble.
>>729409229not complete and total, it did make up the backbone of the steam deck's built-in controller (chiefly it gave them the VERY hard lesson that "no, you are not replacing traditional controllers with a gimmick-loaded controller") and they did technically sell all produced units courtesy of those blow-out sales to get the chimps at SCUF off their back
>>729409359I'm sorry are you saying that them having to offload stock at a dollar per controller (or rather, free when you bought a game) was NOT a complete and total failure, and that it was somehow a sale? That's a loss, not a sale.I guess you're correct about the design lessons for the deck controller though, fair point. I just hated that piece of shit.
>>729409478i don't think they "had to" move them at almost nothing, just that it was the most expeditious way of doing so while staring down the barrel of a really dumb lawsuit from a really dumb company
>>729409478>them having to offload stock at a dollar per controllerActually $5 I'm pretty sure. And that was only because they got sued by patent trolls for having back buttons and had to get rid of excess stock.
>>729409359I wouldn't really call the Steam Controller 1 "gimmick loaded".Basically the only thing it sucked to play with was Katamari Damacy. It's a pretty good controller.
>>729409604It was less>We're getting rid of excess stockMore>Fuck you, these are going to people eat a dick you cock gobbling fuck knockers, good luck suing anyone when these are in the aftermarket
>>729409629trackpads are gimmicks.
>>729410092How exactly?
>>729410092When they're on a functionally unusable place on the controller, sure. But as a hard rule no.
the dpad and buttons don't look as comfy as a dualshock 4why downgrade sisters
>>729410350Dualshock 4's overrated after moving over to 8bitdo Pro controllers and a Steam Deck.
It's vaporwave at this point. The global hardware situation made it evaporate.Valve don't have the fight in them to bring it to market now.
>controllers have ram in themYou guys can't possibly be that stupid, it ain't no way
>>729410456>The global hardware situationThat applies to the cube and frame, but not a controller. If they have to cancel the hardware, I don't see them also canceling the controller.
Never, ever, underestimate just how stupid the tech illiterate are. They are not pretending.
>>729410586>>729410664
>>729410092>works stupidly well with games made with mice in mindthey've always been a QTE gimmick on DS4, but not on the steam controller
>>729407009It is releasing February 26th so zero. I'm excited for it. Have 1100 dollars in Gabebucks from when Gabe fucked the CS2 market by turning trash into treasure and screwing over gamblers and saudi princes.
>>729410837Will you be able to buy it directly inside Steam? In Japan you won't, which sucks, because I also have hundreds of dollars in boxes and weapons
>>729407009
>>72940700916%
>>729411008Yes, that is the only place you can buy Steam hardware in the US.
>>729412017It's mostly like that to screw over scalpers which japan doesn't have as much of an issue with.
>>729412157>It's mostly like that to screw over scalpers which japan doesn't have as much of an issue with. No? It has literally nothing to do with that. In the west retailers take a 15-30% cut on all sales. Valve selling directly means they can either reduce consumer costs or take greater profit. It is all about making the transaction better for both party.
>>729412267>steal 30% off all transactions like the greedy kikes they are>refuse to sell through retailers who do the same thing and actually offer something in exchangeI hate valve and their steamie defense force so much it's unreal
>>729412267>No? It has literally nothing to do with that.It has literally EVERYTHING to do with that since scalper fags literally hours after the announcement of the deck announced that they wanted to scalp it and it was a severe problem at the time (2022)
>>729407009It's valve. They will shadow drop it in 8 months once everybody has forgotten about it with no PR or fanfare.
>>729412671Not in the slightest. It is just a by-product of Valve maximizing profits by not having to give a 3rd party a cut of their hardware sales.
>>729412267Made for BWC
>>729409335Stop advertising for free faggot
>>729410586Dey need memory to remember what button u press
>>729412693>early 2026
>>729412750If that was the case the Deck wouldn't have been sold at a loss and they'd just sell through their entire stock to scalpers and wash their hands of it.
>>729413526It wasn't sold at a loss. They never stated as such. They just said meeting the price they wanted was painful, i.e. minimal profit vs their normal 15-20% profit on hardware.
>>729412458So you want Valve to only sell through retailers so their already expensive hardware costs 30% more? I don't. Weird take, jew.
>>729407009delayed until ram prices come down
>>729414576Congratulations on admitting they weren't maximizing profits dumb dumb.
>>729414737Illiterate or mentally disabled? If Valve had gone through retailers they would have had to take a loss to meet their pricing target for the base model. The mid tier and top end model they made 30-40% on each unit. It is one of the reasons they've discontinued the LCD model. They wanted an attractive price on the base model even if it meant they couldn't earn their typical goal on profit. But it still made money on every unit sold.
>>729414893>Illiterate or mentally disabled?Neither, you're just not as smart as you are.I'm not reading the rest of your post.
>>729415072>you're just not as smart as you areI see
