People ITT really seem to be missing the point. Yeah most characters could just walk up and blast mordors gates wide open, but the challenge is not getting corrupted first.
Any non halfing is at risk of insta mind break, especially any human characters.
My OSRS character is fucked, he gets mind controlled right away by a minor desert god in one quest.

>>

Not really. They're both already shown to be weak to corruption, The Wall works kind of the same way as the ring does except on a more conceptual level. They're susceptible to mind manipulation, that's the focus of the latest story quest even.

tl;dr insanely corruptive evil artifact of great and terrible power. Even having it on your person lets Sauron (Middle-Earth Anti-Christ and the first Dark Lord, from a time before that became played out) get his teeth into you and gradually turn you into his servant, much like the Nazgul. The stronger/more ambitious you are, the worse it gets. Hence why it had to be taken to mordor by two hobbits, whose ambitions generally end at big dinners and lots of ale.

Can the ring corrupt a robot?
>>
>>729420179
Sauron is more of a fallen angel than an elf. Anyways the ring is basically his soul, its all of his hatred, desire, and will to dominate others concentrated in one ring. Somehow putting it all in a ring makes it way more effective, there are other rings too, but a lot of them were malicious rings made by Sauron that turned the wearers into slaves to him after he made his ring. There were also a few rings made by the elves and the dwarves which aren't evil, but also aren't nearly as strong.

The ring itself is basically just magic crack. It gives you super powers if you know how to use it, but you have to keep passing will saves to not become a strung out fiend.
>>
>>729419459
My take on it is that the ring's mental tricks are bush league compared to the shit they've put up with for centuries, and it's not unreasonable to consider that the frame itself would be a buffer.

Gollum has almost as much of a role as frodo/sam in the task of destroying the ring. Even if he didn't realize it, it's quite beautiful actually
>>

>>
>>729413913

Nope. However if Ramza plays the role of Sam and Alma plays the role of Frodo, they would succeed. Alma is very pure and would take a long time to break. Ramza would have no problem carrying her across Mordor and slapping Gollum's shit, and slapping Alma's shit when she won't let go of the ring.

It was no accident. Eru Iluvatar tripped him because only God can defeat evil, that's the rule. Frodo, Sam, and friends are acting as agents/soldiers of God but in the end the final blow is His to deal.

It's also a poetic moment because Gollum is only there due to the acts of mercy, forgiveness, and pity of many people. It was due to God and the nobility of man that the ring was destroyed. If Bilbo, Gandalf, Faramir, Sam, or Frodo actually killed Gollum at any point for being such a wretch, the world would have been lost. But it was not their role to pass death and judgment, and it fit into His plan.
