This thing's sleep mode is amazing. Why can't other portable devices like the switch and steam deck do the same thing? They cant maintain charge for shit. It's not like its some mega secret the vita just shuts 99% of the system off and keeps the RAM active (basically a save state) so when you turn it back on you will have just have a 1-2% lower battery charge. Sony's choices are so schizo when it comes to this. Some amazing decisions mixed in with Sega tier stupidity

It's because the vita is based on an ARM chip which is far less complex and far less power hungry.

I loved my vita a LOT, unit 13 and killzone mercs were pretty regular plays for me, I did the dailies on unit 13 up until they stopped them, and played killzone mercs mp up until they killed that too, still mad neither of those have gotten a proper port.as for your question, because there are too many expectations of functions like sleep mode NOT turning the whole thing off. They want fast resume (which means it's not really sleeping at all), they want downloads-in-sleep (again, not sleeping), and other shit that necessitate more power draw.
