They don't want anybody doing anything which might go against their current PR roadmap for the franchise's image. It has to fit their picture of the target demographic for their latest flagship media release. Jurassic Park in particular has long since foregone the horror elements of the original in favor of a much more broadly marketable Star Wars-esque fantastical journey theme.
