The original RE4 always kept a tension that never went away by having a binary "stay and attack, or run and reposition" relationship with the controls that couldn't be undermined by just getting better at the game. Meanwhile in the remake once you get better at aiming while on the move, the tension in enemy encounters decreases.

Taking a risk in the original standing your ground and reloading to take out enemies in front of you was seriously tempting because retracing to reload really meant taking your eye off the enemies. Now in the remake it almost always makes sense to retreat since you can reposition while reloading and angle the camera to keep watch over the enemy. The choice to reload is overall less interesting and difficult as a result.

They straight up swarm you in ways that will try to ambush and catch you off-guard, in ways that accommodate for the player's movement. Even the OG will have enemies go "RIGHT BEHIND YOU, ASSHOLE" in Spanish to warn a player typically, at least until the later foes. You don't even play this goddamn game, you're just regurgitating what someone else said.

Remakes are by and far unnecesary. Only good kind of remake is something like Metroid ZM, where the original was technically troubled and the remake actually adds good stuff to the original work.

New game feels like any other ue slop games. You think you're bashing the og by casting light on auditory cues given to the player that are fitting perfectly in the mechanics. Villagers say "¡detras de tì imbecil!" whenever they're a couple feet away from you and coming from behind. Given the fact fights and explorations are well separated if you have enemies at your six in most cases it means you're already busy with the front. It isn't a "gotcha!", "screamer mid exploration" or whatever moment, it isn't a handholding addition either. It is another choice you have to make mid fight ( reload/reposition/picking which side to prioritize and which to leave exposed ) and the auditory cue is part of the game's design and not a lazy mistake to accommodate casuals.
In opposition with re remake blended together homogeneous gameplay ( with a spoon of disgusting greasy ue shenanigans and movements ) all segments of re4 fights are clearly identifiable and purposeful. That's the template of a legendary game.
