Is the 2 apologist still around? I gave it an honest shot because of people like him. When fighting bosses its like a crappy proto Xenoblade with you knocking enemies prone so you can all beat their ass. Outside of bosses it was just plain crappy with zero redeeming features.And then everything else was awful and I can't believe a whole game was wasted resolving JR and MOMO's plots I barely gave a fuck about. Christ all the virtual reality exploring of ageless shota brains and their stupid traumatic past made me wanna barf. What a waste of such a great scifi setting.The two scenes where Ziggy was cool were all worth it, though. Thank god I read a plot synopsis of his prequel game beforehand.

Because virtually nothing happens in episode 1. It sets up a bunch of mystery boxes, yes, which get addressed to varying degrees and levels of reader/player satisfaction in episodes 2 and 3 (reason: money and time, not enough of either). Episode 1's thematic centerpiece is the realien conflict, which never gets even really touched on again thematically in episodes 2 or 3. Episode 1 is sadly there to set up a bunch of cool shit - primarily set pieces - but it feels little need to really demonstrate how/why it's cool shit, perhaps apart from the denouement, where we get Kos-Mos doing some truly batty, bad ass shit and dropping a sick one-liner while doing so. However, if you were a fan of Xenogears in 1998, the prospect of this game combined with it being pretty serviceable overall led to much higher scores and a kinder fan reception.
