Pretty good tbdesu 9/10
Vinny said it was mid tho'
>>729427028I'm sorry to say, but Vinny's wrong.
>>729427783trueits absolute dogshitstrictly for secondaries, like dread
Is it uncky pewpewslop?
>>729427868Nah, it's very good.

>>729426850Just beat it too, fucked up on the first boss scan so have to replay to get 100%. Had the Sylux Amiibo so I was still able to see the secret movie anyway.Honestly MP4 felt more like a Zelda game since every area was more like a dungeon, then a biome.Really liked the quality of life stuff like the scout bots to mark were items were though. And given the various fire arms the Federation troops had, potential for an actual Federation FPS game. Also Armstrong fan girling was cute.
I read the new interview, so it is set after Super Metroid like people speculated since seeing the year mentioned in the intro. It's cool that they finally moved forward from being perma-stuck between Metroid and Metroid 2. This means absolutely no chance of Ridley coming back again since it's currently a frozen husk on the BSL but I'm fine with that. Also explains why Sylux had to go through the trouble of stealing a cloned Metroid from the federation instead of just capturing a wild one.
>>729426850Finished it recently and overall I enjoyed it, although the last part of the game screamed development issues. Most of the problems I had with the game can be fixed with an update patch to iron out some annoyances, other than that I hope for the next game they'll have a better development path to avoiding taking another 10 years and a lot of issues
I like this a lot even though it only plays it a small space.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEMucs-gxdU
Me too. fellow christmas gift enjoyers in here I assume. For all the complaints I had heard about the game, it was the one game among my switch 2 christmas games I couldn't put down. I even woke up at like 5:30 this morning because I wanted to keep playing.
My big criticisms for the game wasYou don't get a vocal audio prompt for a logbook scan like in the first 3 games. Also, feels logbook in 4 is smaller too.
>>729430349>>729426850Marketer thread
>>729431139It's weird because I feel this game had a lot more stuff to scan, which I liked, the previous games had a lot of repeated scans like every monitor in later areas having the same entry about it being a monitor with data, while in 4 they always updated to at least say that the data is relevant to the area, but the vast majority of it doesn't register in the logbook, really weird choice
>>729431139I didn't go back and check how many things get added to the logbook in the previous games but to me it feels more like they made an effort not to put very minor scans in the logbook such as health/ammo pickups, door-locking mechanisms and the like. The work done with the scanning itself is much more in-depth than previous games and the entries that don't go in the logbook both have more detailed descriptions and there's just a ton more individual instances that differ per room/current state of the scanned object, such as the same or similar Lamorn vehicles having different descriptions based on what they were being used for in a certain area or whether they're still functional.
>>729431353It's got a bunch more scans, but not in the way of logbook stuff.Blew my mind how I was like 70% done with scans and still had some areas I haven't visited.
>>7294268509/100. I forgot the zero, guys.
Ok Tendies.
>>729427868Dread is good thoughever
They ruined Sylux! RUINED him!>Former GF trooper who hates the Federation and Samus because they were late>Not having the “intricate multilayered backstory” that was planned since Hunters.I can write a better one than 343tro’s out of my ass. >Federation tries to copy Samus’s armor and has to do some very bad things to get their knock-off tech working.>Sylux hates the Federation and Samus because he’s the poor bastard who has to be the test monkey. His physiology is FUCKED from the experiments to the point of constant pain!>One day he has enough and runs
>>729432443>because they were lateDamn, you can't even follow such a simple backstory?
>>729432443There wasn't much to ruin in the first place, Sylux has always been just the "least boring" from the Hunters in MPH, it's more that bringing him back was kinda pointless when he's barely in the game and the most relevant moment is in an unlockable secret cutscene
>>729432486I can. I just don’t like it. So he has an almighty grudge against the Feds and Samus because they were going to rescue him but didn’t arrive on time? He sides with the same pirates who he was fighting in the first place just because?
>>729432776No, you don't get it. His grudge has nothing to do with them arriving late. He wanted to seize the Space Pirates' weapon because he was self-centered and overambitious. He didn't care that GF command told him to stand back and wait for Samus and he got his unit vaporized because of it. Then he still wanted to take the weapon but saw Samus blast it to smithereens, which was the correct option due to how dangerous it was but in his eyes she and the federation just wasted a chance (his chance) to seize a WMD. That's why he's ungrateful to Samus even though she saved his life, why he quits the federation and starts amassing power by any means necessary including making deals with Space Pirates and attacking GF bases, to prove his methods are superior.
>>729432976I think it’s time to quit my bitching. Now suddenly I’m no longer mad.
>>729432976Nta, but what the fuck was even that weapon? These fucks come up with all kinds of stupid things all the time that are not worth getting upset over
>>729433463It looked like some kind of massive energy pulse generator, probably untested and used as a last resort since it also blew up the pirates who activated it. I assume there will be a description for it if they publish an artbook for Beyond like the recent one they made for the first three games.
>>729433539So Sylux got upset that he didn't get some untested energy bomb from the pirates? What was he even going to do with it?
>>729430020>This means absolutely no chance of Ridley coming backWishful thinking
>>729433602It's all assumptions until they expand on him more in the next game, but I feel like he initially intended to rise up the ranks within the Galactic Federation by accomplishing great military feats while disregarding safety and moral implications, until he decided the only way to satiate his drive for power was to operate outside of it. As for Samus, it's easy to see why he'd develop an inferiority complex towards her. She's considered a galactic hero and she's free to do what she wants while having alien tech far superior to that of the feds. If she can do it, then so can he.>>729433819It really depends on exactly how much they want to keep Prime in continuity with the 2D games without stepping on their toes even while mostly ignoring their plot points. Thus far they did a decent job since they justified Ridley coming back in Prime after Metroid 1, and eventually they had the favor return with the addition of Proteus Ridley to Samus Returns which references the cybernetic enhancements given to Meta Ridley. The first three games were all set before Metroid 2 so they could freely feature Metroids, but now that they've moved forward to post-Super they had to stick to the plot point of the feds being the only ones with a Metroid breeding program. They could always bullshit another clone Ridley like the one from Other M/Fusion, but it will also depend on how much they want to feature Space Pirates in the new games. They were just a cameo in Beyond and there'd be no need to bring Ridley back if Sylux keeps being the main threat.
>>729432976>>729432776Also to add to this, listen to how he talks.>If I can seize it->Get me that weapon He clearly wanted it for himself since he's referring to himself throughout. And beyond Samus blowing up the weapon he wanted, it's a given that after the battle he got court martialed for disobeying a direct order and getting his entire squad killed, which would explain why he hated the Federation on top of Samus. He's just an unsympathetic, selfish, power hungry asshole. And it works.
>>729430020>This means absolutely no chance of Ridley coming back again since it's currently a frozen husk on the BSLThere was the clone of ridley in Other M, which was after Super, but before Fusion, so anything is possible.
>>729434142Also we don't know when the BSL got their hands on Ridley, so he we could actually see a game where he's put on ice to and shipped off.
>>729434142I'd lump Other M in with Super and assume Prime 4 is also set after it because Other M is a very direct sequel to Super and it would be somewhat pointless to set a game between the two. It's not like they're going to put Adam in a Prime game or anything. Also Samus only discovers that the Federation has been breeding Metroids in Other M and she doesn't seem surprised to see some with Sylux in Beyond so it makes more sense if it's after it and she knows they aren't completely extinct already. Granted, she seemed surprised to learn about the program again in Fusion but that's something Other M fumbled/retconned.
>>729434385>It's not like they're going to put Adam in a Prime game or anythingThat said, it is possible Samus' ship from Prime 4 onward already has the Adam AI installed on it which I wouldn't mind seeing if it acted as mission control like in Fusion and Dread.
>>729434454Even if Mac gave a blueprint to the NPC giving you instructions on where to go, I still don't think they're going to include Adam, to many chefs in the proverbial kitchen. Either way 4 leaves a bunch of loose ends that 5 can pick up, like the 12 psychic aliens that left the planet to find Samus, if your federation teammates survived Sylux, and Sylux himself and his moctroids army.Speaking of your teammates, they subverted who I thought would pilot the Golem multiple times>First I thought it would be Mac since he personally worked on that unit and it would finally allow him to make a difference on the front lines.>Then Armstrong since her bio says she's a pilot>Then Robro outright says he's a Golem pilot
>>729434385My guess is that she thought it was just some controlled breeding for scientific purposes and not making a Metroid army for military purposes, she initially handed them the last Metroid so it's not like she was completely opposed to them working with it, at least until fusion
>>729434454They would have to make an excuse as to why she's carrying the AI with her tho, since having her gunship would remove the need to find a way to leave that planet
I'm not looking forward to playing this on hard. Even though I only died once on Normal 2nd Sylux fight because I kept fucking up and getting stuck on the electrified floor my wins were always with only 1 or 2 tanks left.
>>729426850If this is a 9 what are Prime 1 and 2, 13/10?
>>729435036In Prime 5 they could just do the Prime 1 thing of "Samus stays on the planet until she's done with her mission" or the Prime 2 thing of "the ship gets damaged and spends the game self-repairing", if not finally expanding on Prime 3's underbaked ship ideas and letting you actively use it and pilot it in certain instances. I'm mostly just thinking that sequels will probably keep having a character who speaks to you like the Aurora Unit or Myles and given the current timeline placement the Adam AI would make sense.
They claimed to be inspired by BotW but made a "Metroid" game with a hub area linking to dungeons that were all more linear than Skyward Sword.>oh but you have to backtrack there three times to get one more item with an upgrade from the next dungeonsThat's not exploration.
>>729435525What I'm dreading is the first phase with the goof troop getting on my way when trying to dodge and all dying at once during the AOE electrical attack
>>729436121>They claimed to be inspired by BotWIf you're talking about the new interview, they said the opposite, that even though BotW came out and some people want open world games, they knew Metroid can't be developed without strict upgrade progression.
>>729435525>>729436128It's the hardest part of the game on hard but it's not insurmountable as long as you keep your distance and Power Bomb underneath Sylux to kill as many dragon heads at once as you can. That said, you have to go through twice as many cycles of dragon heads as normal mode and you'll probably have to rely on their health drops a lot to stay alive.
>>729426850I could deal with the desert, the bike or bazinga chungus the third and his oh so hilarious quips but what completely kills the game is the level designthis shit is inexcusable for a metroid prime game, it's insane how much quality has been lost even compared to corruption let alone the first two games
>>729436186>they knew Metroid can't be developed without strict upgrade progressionZelda can't either and it didn't stopped Nintendo
>>729436385>Zelda can't eitherthe new zelda formula is a massive critical and commercial hit while prime 4 is a huge bomb, no one gives a fuck that a handful of middle aged brown spergs never got over the botw assfucking from 2017
>>729426850My experience thus far?Fury Green feels very genetic and mid.Volt Forge is kind of tedious and looks bad on the Switch 1.The desert section is just awful.Ice Belt is great, though. Looks great and has a nice sense of progression.So...lukewarm win?
Set Speech Volume to 0Game instantly gains 10% quality.
>>729427028He got filtered hard by the final bossLike he didn't even get a game over from the troopers dying, he just straight up wiped with like 8 energy tanks multiple times and had his usual tendy rage moment
>>729436530>lukewarm winHonestly? I'll take it. This is still better than not getting any Prime at all.I would've much preferred 2 and 3 getting the Remastered treatment though.
>>729436451It's a hit because it's a decent open world, but the "Zelda" part of the game it's the worst we ever got, and Nintendo's solution to nonlinearity is always "here's all the tools", with ALBW still being a regular Zelda but the equipment isn't inside the dungeons and won't be used outside of the one they're meant to, and BOTW/TOTK has the whole game focused around the same small set of tools. They also don't know how to scale difficulty in a decent way
>>729426850I really enjoyed it too, in spite of it's flaws, I feel people were just waiting to shit on it, I hope they really are mid development of the next one because I can't wait for the next Prime game.>>729430020I think Prime is basically separate for core Metroid thanks to Sakamoto demanding they keep away from Chozo after MP2, personally I think they should just drop Samus and go for someone else, sure that's heresy, but the greatest strength is that they can effectively start with a clean base for equipment instead of using legacy stuff. Then again I think they should make an adjacent Captain Falcon and Mach Rider game, the cycle was perfect for Mach Rider.
>>729437357>Samus, Captain Falcon and Mach Rider crossover game where they take on bounties together>they all take their helmets off in the 100% ending showing Falcon's face clearly for the first time outside the anime and revealing Mach Rider is also a girl
>>729427868>like dreadI love watching this impotent quest to try and use the failure of Prime 4 to drag Dread down with it.
>>729433819Ridley has been AWOL for two games (and 8 years), and it generally feels like Sakamoto is ready to leave him behind, at least.
>>729438247>drag Dread down with itYeah except Dread has been shit since release, it's not a new thing.
>>729437357>personally I think they should just drop Samus and go for someone else,Wonderful suggestion retard. So you're left with a series that has nothing to do with Metroid gameplay wise, and also has a different protagonist, and has nothing to do with Metroid Story wise either. At this point just play Asscreed.
>>729438247For me it's people still claiming it's linear when it just asks more of you to sequence break. Same thing that happens with Zero Mission come to think of it
>>729438642Well, I'm convinced!
