Just beat it too, fucked up on the first boss scan so have to replay to get 100%. Had the Sylux Amiibo so I was still able to see the secret movie anyway.
Honestly MP4 felt more like a Zelda game since every area was more like a dungeon, then a biome.

Really liked the quality of life stuff like the scout bots to mark were items were though.
And given the various fire arms the Federation troops had, potential for an actual Federation FPS game.

Also Armstrong fan girling was cute.

I read the new interview, so it is set after Super Metroid like people speculated since seeing the year mentioned in the intro. It's cool that they finally moved forward from being perma-stuck between Metroid and Metroid 2. This means absolutely no chance of Ridley coming back again since it's currently a frozen husk on the BSL but I'm fine with that. Also explains why Sylux had to go through the trouble of stealing a cloned Metroid from the federation instead of just capturing a wild one.

Finished it recently and overall I enjoyed it, although the last part of the game screamed development issues. Most of the problems I had with the game can be fixed with an update patch to iron out some annoyances, other than that I hope for the next game they'll have a better development path to avoiding taking another 10 years and a lot of issues

Me too. fellow christmas gift enjoyers in here I assume.
For all the complaints I had heard about the game, it was the one game among my switch 2 christmas games I couldn't put down. I even woke up at like 5:30 this morning because I wanted to keep playing.

My big criticisms for the game was
You don't get a vocal audio prompt for a logbook scan like in the first 3 games.
Also, feels logbook in 4 is smaller too.

It's weird because I feel this game had a lot more stuff to scan, which I liked, the previous games had a lot of repeated scans like every monitor in later areas having the same entry about it being a monitor with data, while in 4 they always updated to at least say that the data is relevant to the area, but the vast majority of it doesn't register in the logbook, really weird choice

I didn't go back and check how many things get added to the logbook in the previous games but to me it feels more like they made an effort not to put very minor scans in the logbook such as health/ammo pickups, door-locking mechanisms and the like. The work done with the scanning itself is much more in-depth than previous games and the entries that don't go in the logbook both have more detailed descriptions and there's just a ton more individual instances that differ per room/current state of the scanned object, such as the same or similar Lamorn vehicles having different descriptions based on what they were being used for in a certain area or whether they're still functional.

No, you don't get it. His grudge has nothing to do with them arriving late. He wanted to seize the Space Pirates' weapon because he was self-centered and overambitious. He didn't care that GF command told him to stand back and wait for Samus and he got his unit vaporized because of it. Then he still wanted to take the weapon but saw Samus blast it to smithereens, which was the correct option due to how dangerous it was but in his eyes she and the federation just wasted a chance (his chance) to seize a WMD. That's why he's ungrateful to Samus even though she saved his life, why he quits the federation and starts amassing power by any means necessary including making deals with Space Pirates and attacking GF bases, to prove his methods are superior.

It's all assumptions until they expand on him more in the next game, but I feel like he initially intended to rise up the ranks within the Galactic Federation by accomplishing great military feats while disregarding safety and moral implications, until he decided the only way to satiate his drive for power was to operate outside of it. As for Samus, it's easy to see why he'd develop an inferiority complex towards her. She's considered a galactic hero and she's free to do what she wants while having alien tech far superior to that of the feds. If she can do it, then so can he.

It really depends on exactly how much they want to keep Prime in continuity with the 2D games without stepping on their toes even while mostly ignoring their plot points. Thus far they did a decent job since they justified Ridley coming back in Prime after Metroid 1, and eventually they had the favor return with the addition of Proteus Ridley to Samus Returns which references the cybernetic enhancements given to Meta Ridley. The first three games were all set before Metroid 2 so they could freely feature Metroids, but now that they've moved forward to post-Super they had to stick to the plot point of the feds being the only ones with a Metroid breeding program. They could always bullshit another clone Ridley like the one from Other M/Fusion, but it will also depend on how much they want to feature Space Pirates in the new games. They were just a cameo in Beyond and there'd be no need to bring Ridley back if Sylux keeps being the main threat.

I'd lump Other M in with Super and assume Prime 4 is also set after it because Other M is a very direct sequel to Super and it would be somewhat pointless to set a game between the two. It's not like they're going to put Adam in a Prime game or anything. Also Samus only discovers that the Federation has been breeding Metroids in Other M and she doesn't seem surprised to see some with Sylux in Beyond so it makes more sense if it's after it and she knows they aren't completely extinct already. Granted, she seemed surprised to learn about the program again in Fusion but that's something Other M fumbled/retconned.

In Prime 5 they could just do the Prime 1 thing of "Samus stays on the planet until she's done with her mission" or the Prime 2 thing of "the ship gets damaged and spends the game self-repairing", if not finally expanding on Prime 3's underbaked ship ideas and letting you actively use it and pilot it in certain instances. I'm mostly just thinking that sequels will probably keep having a character who speaks to you like the Aurora Unit or Myles and given the current timeline placement the Adam AI would make sense.

It's the hardest part of the game on hard but it's not insurmountable as long as you keep your distance and Power Bomb underneath Sylux to kill as many dragon heads at once as you can. That said, you have to go through twice as many cycles of dragon heads as normal mode and you'll probably have to rely on their health drops a lot to stay alive.

Fury Green feels very genetic and mid.
Volt Forge is kind of tedious and looks bad on the Switch 1.
The desert section is just awful.
Ice Belt is great, though. Looks great and has a nice sense of progression.

It's a hit because it's a decent open world, but the "Zelda" part of the game it's the worst we ever got, and Nintendo's solution to nonlinearity is always "here's all the tools", with ALBW still being a regular Zelda but the equipment isn't inside the dungeons and won't be used outside of the one they're meant to, and BOTW/TOTK has the whole game focused around the same small set of tools. They also don't know how to scale difficulty in a decent way

I think Prime is basically separate for core Metroid thanks to Sakamoto demanding they keep away from Chozo after MP2, personally I think they should just drop Samus and go for someone else, sure that's heresy, but the greatest strength is that they can effectively start with a clean base for equipment instead of using legacy stuff.
Then again I think they should make an adjacent Captain Falcon and Mach Rider game, the cycle was perfect for Mach Rider.
