A 40 hour game for $40-$50 was way better value than the equivalent VHS tapes needed to get to that many episodes in length. People also cry "no gameplay" but the idea that you can't get game over in these games or that you have to grind is propagated by people that don't fucking play them or have literally only played like Pokemon. It's bullshit. You have to pay attention in Final Fantasy Tactics, you have to have good reflexes in Legend of Dragoon, you've got fun puzzles in Wild Arms, you have to experiment with different equips in FFIX, etc.
