I'm playing NG++ right now. It's a great game overall, I love the style of the game. I can't imagine having to play it without the map, nuts that it was something that was patched in.

Things I want in the sequel:
+Small thing, increase subtitle size option
+Nice to have thing, being able to save builds. Respec being for free is great, but this would make it fantastic
+Wukong Secret Boss, and Wukong and Erlang double secret boss

I cannot for the life of me get HDR or renodx to work for this game (hdr conversion tool). It's probably just because that the profile is borked since i had no issues with cyberpunk 2077. The screenshot probably looks wrong anyway as of HDR screenshots always look wrong. Or maybe it does work and the result was just unimpressive. I'm not sure. But the colors just looked so dull and washed out. Doesn't help that they were like on Unreal 5.0 or 5.1 or something in which HDR was not officially supported on unreal engine at that time. Why release a triple A game like this and not bother with HDR?

I skipped it on launch because I just wasn't in the mood to play it and I was a bit worn out from the genre, but then I played it earlier this year and had a blast, I even got the platinum trophy too. Wukong's the most enjoyment I've had from a new / modern release since the Resident Evil 4 remake, which is a bit depressing because that's literally just a remake of a 2005 game, it's not an entirely new game, more of slight reimagining at a stretch.

I'm pretty sure Wukong is the only good game they've put out so far. Lost Soul Aside turned out to be a mess and Wuchang was boring and generic as shit so I dropped it. Showa American Story does look promising though, but we'll see.

You're halfway there, they've got 6 sequels planned but only Wukong is out right now. Also, they're not necessarily sequels, if I remember correctly, it's more like the "Black Myth" is a overarching theme kinda deal, where each entry is is a new story following a different piece of Chinese mythology. Think of it like the show True Detective, where it's a different story and characters each season with the same title and general idea.

It's pretty fun. But i couldn't tell you if it was just another run of the mill game in the genre either since i randomly just picked it up on a small discount, mainly just to test my new graphics card out. Nor is my experience with the soulslikes even that deep. Bad doesn't come close to describing it since there is clear effort in its combat and making it feel a little different. At least i think the kung fu animations makes it feel unique for whatever thats worth. Jumping around and doing flips is cool, i really like the actual movesets in this game. There will probably be many more Chinese games like it and then the uniqueness will fade. I still haven't played Wuchang so this observation might be irrelevant.
