The Watcher is objectively the easiest, the Silent was the easiest to me before I looked up how to make everyone else OP.
Study a relic tier list if you're just trying to beat the base game. 80% of your fuck ups are from picking the wrong relics and not going for elites to get more relics later on. The game kind of has a snowball effect where if you're strong in the beginning you can enhance more cards at rest spots and kill more elites which lets you get more relics which lets you upgrade instead of rest... you get the picture.
If you're also trying to kill the heart look up a tier list of cards too from the sweats on the leaderboards. It will shock you what cards are fucking garbage and what ones are OP.

You don't need to get rid of all your defends. You need actually powerful card and relic combos that let you scale up and deal tons of damage or block. You need card draw and energy to find and play good cards from your deck faster. You should spend money buying cards and artifacts at the store that synergize with what you have instead of removing strikes and defends.
