>fuck you I liked itAm I the only one who thinks this game is overhated for what it is?
>>729440021Every Nintendo game released since the Switch 2 launch has been overhated because the NES retards are desperate, I wonder how long they'll keep this up. The only difference with MP4 is that it is a more flawed game with a messy development, so they feel vindicated as if their mad ramblings were correct this whole time
79 seems harsh. I think the Myles stuff poisoned the well.
>>729440021Who are you quoting?
>>729440021The writing sucks the bosses suck and so does the level designThey shat the bed in a tremendous way with their technical team the only ones doing their jobs for the past decade
>>729440021It was an alright 80.
>>729440021it's "that part" the gameif it was a good metroid I would have already replayed it by now, but there is so much annoying shit that just makes the bad I can't be bothered
>>729440227Ironic since he's the best of the companions, although he does have the worst introduction
>>729440021>>729440227Nagging NPCs that act as tutorial guides are antithetical to Metroid. They're annoying in any game, but they _especially_ do not belong in Metroid, where loneliness and isolation are dominant. "He's only there for 15 minutes" is not a compelling line of reasoning here. It's Metroid—he shouldn't be there at all.
>>729440021Just feels undercooked and messy, but I still enjoyed it. The interconnected world is pretty bad, but the dungeon stuff was alright. Felt like a late gen 360 game.As a full blown new Prime game, it's weak.
You can tell who has and hasn't played the game based on how much they complain about Myles.Yes he's annoying, but he's far from the worst part of the game. What about Sylux who was in the trailer and all the promo material, and then was barely even in the fucking game?
>>729440227What shocked me the most was checking the scores of the previous Prime games and finding out that MP3 is sitting on a 90, I guess people just weren't as critical back then
>>729440021of course you aren't'nintendo has conditioned thousands of mentally underdeveloped social outcasts into becoming worthless, subhuman corpocattle, just as they did with you
>>729440104NES retards are desperate for what? Are you nintendo newfags so asshurt that old fans think the company cant deliver anymore that you throw them under the bus?
>>729440021You know what's really funny? Every single Prime game has been "the worst one" at some point, including the original, but after MP4 people suddenly act like this was always a sacred beloved trilogy that respected Metroid as a franchise and MP4 ruined it
>>729440925>speedrun troon chimes in
>>729440925thats not funny you are just describing consistent decline.
>>729440021Yes because you're a dumbass tendie secondary that didn't wait 15 fucking years for it
>>729440021things like the desert and mines aren't hated enough, but stuff like the atmosphere in some sections are underappreciated
>>729441072Super atmospheric dude
>>729441694bot post
>>729441881Super lame dude
>>729440021It was easily the worst of the four. I don't care about the NPCs, they really didn't bother me much outside of the ending and the cliched scenario in the mines, I'm more annoyed by the lack of interconnectivity of levels and lack of exploration. Metroid often suffers from exploration feeling not worthwhile when the rewards are missile expansions and other expansions 90% of the time, but with the way the levels were structured with a huge desert in the middle completely separating areas, it made it feel completely undesirable to go back to other areas knowing at best you were going to get a health tank you didn't really need anyways. By the end of the game I really just wanted it to end, then the ending was a total kick in the nuts from a story perspective.
I just finished the mine, I'm not gonna use spoiler text so here's your warning:The level design fucking sucks. I just finished the mine, and every level just felt like walking down hallways until you fight a boss. None of the collectables are actually hidden, they're just locked behind doors with highly specific keys. The combat is fine, but it's too easy to just spam super charge shots, there's basically no reason to use anything else since save stations reload your ammo. The desert is completely pointless, it's Talon IV with nothing in it and 10x as big. They give you psychic powers, and then you just get all of your old upgrades again anyway without anything that interesting added. And again holy fuck those mines, just walk straight, open doors, and get swarmed by the same enemy type the entire time. I'm gonna finish it, but it's easily the worst of the series. It feels like they're out of ideas, and wanted a more action/adventure feel.
>>729440021People expected greatness and got an average gameIt's not bad but not what you'd expect from the return of Prime. I think the shitting on is somewhat deserved and hopefully makes them step their shit up
>>729441072The mines almost made me drop the game, whoever thought making an entire level where you just have to hold off swarms off enemies until an NPC says "you go on ahead, I'll hold them off!" FOUR TIMES needs to fired immediately. Most padded/filler shit I've played in a while.
>>729440021I think it's not hated nearly enoughand I loved bananza and also think mk world is unironically a good game that just needs a couple of updates to be truly great
Scanning....scanning....scanning....zzzzzzzzz
>>729440227It's definitely a disappointing game, but to have the same score as Other M? If Metroid dies until the 2030's, I'll concede that MP4 deserves it.
the level design is indefensibleretards are going to meme about corruption being the same but corruption map design was a hundred times better, this is what the pirate homeworld would look like if it was in prime 4
It’s not hated enough
>>729440021shittiest metroid prime ever, dev hell, retard devs juggling the tanabe autist and trying to make due with crumbs and the stupid as fuck bamco plot. absolute hell of a development cycle and the most vile assault on Samus ever since Sakamoto smoked swamp gas in 2010. 70/100 it's alright.shows how tough the prime series is and how Samus is basically a displaced ryona ero game protagonist because holy shit she should file tanabe for rape after this game's dev cycle.
>>729440021It’s mediocre as fuck but if you like Metroid for reasons other than the meme “muh sequence break” it bumps it up. I liked it, but it’s still one of the weakest entries.
>>729440021>Am I the only one who thinks this game is overhated for what it is?I'm sure you and all the other Retro employees are very congratulatory of this pile of shit.
>>729445562ESL post
Much weaker than prime 1 and 2 but better than 3.
>it's a flaccid facade that's my reviewOof even the biggest Metroid fanboys are admitting it's shit
>zero significant improvement in prime antiquated core gameplay, the gyro aiming feels like shit and the overall movement and gun feedback is unacceptable today>no interesting new upgrade with the exception of the morph ball grapple that is used for fun platforming sections for maybe a combined 5 minutes in the entire playthrough>samus somehow manages to be less mobile than in the previous two games in the series as they got rid of the screw attack>still no speedbooster instead they give you the shitbike that is entirely pointless outside of the shit desert, which is the worst kind of metroid ability you can devise (super specific, doesn't synergize with the rest of samus moveset)>the desert itself, do I really have to explain why it's a bad joke>the NPCs are unlikable stock characters written by rank amateurs but they're not a problem in themselves, it's their role in the game that really kills it>miles is the worst instance of handholding in a nintendo game since fi and similar to her he tells you what to do when you don't want his help and is completely useless when you ask for his assistance (I never needed it but I tried to call him to see what it'd do and it's pointless)>you can't disable his constant interjections while you could turn off the hint system in prime, highlighting one of the game's biggest issues: the gameplay has DEVOLVED since prime 1, a 23 year old game>scanning is slower, less clearly signposted, and the blurbs you get are bland autistic descriptions of the various machines you encounter, you also need to use the scan for things that should be immediate interactions (the grapple lasso icon is the first thing that comes to mind)
>>729440021It’s a 6/10 game in a series that’s pretty consistently 10/10. I liked a lot of it more than the average person did, and was excited to come home every day after work and play more, but I see where the hate comes from and won’t argue with someone if they say they hate this game.
>Worst lore>Worst writing>Worst pacing>Worst level design>Included every single historic complaint ever laid against a Metroid Prime game and doubled/tripled down on them>The desert blows>The bike sucks>Every level is a different defunct Lamorn facility >Feddies actively vandalize every level they're involved in [all of them]>Hardly even really a Metroidvania because the backtracking and exploration is SO bad>Sylux's backstory is insanely retarded [He's waging intergalactic war against the G Feds and Samus because *checks notes* Samus blew up a weapon he wanted to capture]If you think it's anything above a 6/10 [it gets this for being functional, running and looking and sounding good and having fun bosses] then you're a shiteater who never truly enjoyed Prime games for what they did best. >>729440021>Am I the only one who thinks this game is overhated for what it is?No, there are tons of skullfucked slopslurping faggots. >>729447320>no interesting new upgrade with the exception of the morph ball grapple that is used for fun platforming sections for maybe a combined 5 minutes in the entire playthroughSo fucking true. >you also need to use the scan for things that should be immediate interactions (This had me fucking seething by the end.
>>729445909>half the playthrough is telling chat they're wrong>other half is realizing they were right
>>729447320cont'>level design is an unmitigated fiasco, most of the maps are straight lines, the rooms have been flattened both literally and figuratively: verticality is almost non-existent and the basic interactions are trite >the game devolves into a far shittier version of salmon run/CoD zombies in the last two biomes where you have to babysit your cocksucking NPC partners while mowing down herds of completely uninteresting enemies, speaking of that the enemy variety is tragic as well, being far inferior to the first Prime's>a shocking lack of personality and uniqueness, everything feels like an attempt at evoking nostalgia for tallon IV (the phendrana lab, the mines, the wise alien race looking for a chosen one to save them after they fell victim to a mutagen etc etc) but it only makes you realize how much worse these new takes are>there's two gameplay scenarios in the game: go down a dormant facility, turn the power on, backtrack to the surface or traverse corridors with companions while fighting hordes of mobs, with lots of A button presses to open doors (apparently the devs haven't realized this is a metroid game and we're supposed to open doors by shooting them)>the whole ending sequence, arguably the worst one I've ever seen in a nintendo game when they generally nail the finales (bananza being a good example)>this finale represents the game well as it's full of pointless wastes of time, making you cross the desert constantly, going back and forth between base camp and the various biomes in a pathetic imitation of traditional metroid pathfinding gameplay, the game feels like it has maybe 5 hours of content max stretched to its absolute limit through the worst progression system and structure I've seenI'm a metroid fanboy but prime 4 is an abject failure and 79 is far too generous, I agree with edge's score and only because of yamamoto and hamano's ost and the fact the game is technically good, but mechanically, structurally, I'd give it a 2
>>729440021Its not the best prime game, but its a bit better than prime 3. I enjoyed most of it and would say its a solid 8/10
>>729448138>better than Prime 3lmfao you're fucking -insane-
it has even less enemy variety than the first two prime games and similar linear shit to prime 3. also for some reason you spend 45% of the game ripping back and forth on a bike. its definitely another monkey's paw moment, none of the original team leads are still at retro and most of the current staff were from fucking bungie. this was obviously going to suck shit
>>729448357>and similar linear shit to prime 3prime 3's level design shits on prime 4'syes it was linear but the moment to moment gameplay and room layout was so much better
>That cutscene with all the retarded "homages" I don't need the predator manly handshake in Metroid. I don't want the fucking Ironman "inside the helmet" view in Metroid. Fuck this game.
>>729440021No. 7/10 is what I see most people saying, that is not overhated at all. If people were saying 3/10 then sure. But the game is decent, but very flawed, and has several bad spots.
>>729448409>>729448138Prime 3 still let you go "the wrong way" sometimes and it's level weren't just straight fucking hallways
>>729448535yes, I don't like how now the usual retards are going>errrrrm sweatie it's just the natural sequel of corruption!no faggot corruption still had level design, this is like a fucking ps3 fps campaign
>>729448650They're pseuds and secondaries who never truly appreciated the Prime trilogy for what it did best. A lot of people "enjoy" masterpieces without really understanding what's masterful about them.
>>729447896The enemy variety is too low to even be a shitty version of Salmon Run, not even in the same ballpark.
>>729440831Corruption is a 90 game
>>729440831Prime 3 is an excellent fucking game retard.
If you played this and you genuinely thought it was great you're either coping over the loss of your $70 or your standards are astronomically low.
>>729440021I just got viola, the game is weak but not horrendous.
>>729445909He likely already forgot that he played it.
>>729449330It gets so so so much worse anon. The up to Viola bit is the best thing. Now you're gonna realize EVERY level is linear, there's no exploration or backtracking and will find out that you're forced to backtrack across the desert back to Fury Green's base camp half a dozen times or more. Every level from now on will have a significant teamup segment with 1 or more Federation Troopers.
>>729445909Metroid fans have standards. The only people actually defending the game are Nintendo shills who have never played a Metroid before. And their only defense is that it looks pretty and it's not "that bad".
>>729440021After playing this i started playing mass effect 2 and it does what prime 4 is trying to do but about 1000x better. Funny considering the game is over 15 years old.
>>729444659This game made scanning boring as dogshit. Scanning always was one of the biggest reasons for me to play MP.Now you scan the same thing 10 times again every time a pebble rolls over. Objects that present itself as green are still the exact same thing you scanned a 100 times over like a broken box. On top of that the UI is soulless, colorless and i sincerely cannot stand it.
>>729440227Fuck off. He’s annoying as shit, and has no place in Metroid. He and the rest of his Federation buddies should’ve never been included.
>>729440831That’s because Prime 3 is good, dumbass.
I'd rank it at about the level of prime 3Of the things it does good, I really like the boss fights. The final boss of this game is megakino and might be my favorite its so good. Yamamoto scoring still fucks hard. Certain areas like ice belt and volt forge were very good. While I think the desert doesnt fit the series and they need to skip out on open areas next time they make a prime game, it didn't bother me all that much. All in all game was still fun. Worth a couple playthroughs from me
>>729440895I think they meant NDS
>>729440021I hate MP3 and Other M. Beyond was okay.
