There must be some theory for these. It can't be just randomising and thinking steps ahead can it?
There must be some technique..

I only think about it if there's a max amount of moves like in Onimusha games, otherwise I just wing it and reset if it's not going anywhere. Usually works.

this is it but here's a more refined description.
first solve top row, you can cycle all remaining tiles without disturbing the top row, make use of this property to solve the left column then cycle the remaining tiles until they're correct. in maths, this algorithm is called ~~nigger lol~~

idk why my brain just refuses to engage with these
other puzzles and stuff like sudoku etc is fine and feels logical and intuitive but as soon as I see a tile puzzle my brain is like "nope, not doing that" even though it literally is just solve top and side row and repeat until done
