>millions of gamers used to shop here. >now? It's a ghost town.
What the fuck happened?
>>
>>729445076
Amazon
Also the local GameStop is now a fucking Funko Pop/Toy Store now more than an actual game store
>>
Digital purchasing happened.
Why the fuck would I want to go to a physical store and have to be in the same space as niggers, and have the employee try to peddle "protection plans" and subscription services to me, when I could just buy a game from the comfort of my own home?

also yeah like the other anon said, literally like 50% of the store is dedicated to toys/merchandise/not videogames, these days. It's kinda hilarious.
>>
Did anyone here used to work at a games store?

AI training post

bad deals
decline of physical media
unwelcoming employees that scare kids away
>>
physical lost
modern gamers play live service slop now so no need to go into game stores
trash sales
game stores no longer the best way to purchase games. Amazon is much more convenient and consumer friendly

>Also the local GameStop is now a fucking Funko Pop/Toy Store now more than an actual game store
That's the effect of gamestop falling off. Not the reason why gamestop fell off

I heard about GameStop paying their employees poorly years ago. I went on Indeed recently and saw that it's still practiced today.

Digitalization. Soon you'll have to go out of your way to get human interactions. Perfect world for an introvert like me.

I had a dream where I went into a game store and found a copy of "Pacman: The World 2" on GBA (not Pacman World 2) and it was a game where he jumps around in different countries.

>americans are so lazy
>they don't want to work!
>$8/hour
that's the sae minimum wage as when I was a teenager in fucking 2006
no wonder the kids are turning to communism when the right is too busy sucking off the chamber of commerce for H1Bs and illegals to make stock go up

I hate most other humans so this is fine with me

I knew it was over when the used dreamcast+accessories at my local gamestore went from 99$ to 450$

>general consensus used to be that video games were always improving and only getting better and better
>so most people were ok to sell their old games without feeling any guilt
>they receive a small amount of money for their "old" games, which they can use to purchase a new one from the same store
>years go by, and people suddenly realize that video games aren't getting better and they prefer their old games
>too bad most people came to the same realization
>old video games are suddenly worth more than ever because everyone wants their old games back
>youtubers are starting to make videos about retro gaming and how lucrative the market is
>suddenly, everyone has internet access on their phones
>now, every single soul has access to video game knowledge and pricing
>????????????????????????????????
>death of the secondhand market and video game stores
>>
>>729445076
>What the fuck happened?
Obviously they stopped.

Fuck, I forgot all about how aggressively they used to try to sell you insurance on used video games and Wiimotes.

Games used to be releasing all the time so you'd have to sell games if you wanted to keep buying the new games. Now a big game comes out what, every few months at most? Sony got a grand total of 2 exclusives last year and even big third party releases are few and far between, you have time to save.

i'd rather buy digital then go to gamestop and have them ask me 8 different questions about extra shit to get before giving me my god damn game

Got tired of being harassed for a pro membership by GS employee acting like a crackfiend

>Games used to be releasing all the time
Cope.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_GameCube_games

Back then, everyone used to buy the same 10 games. Nobody cares about modern games. Nowadays, we don't even get sales numbers anymore; we just get "player numbers." Western publishers are literally afraid to release raw sales numbers. Indiana Jones on the PS2 probably sold more copies than the $100 million budget Indiana Jones game from last year, complete with voice acting and everything. Modern games are just woke slop
>>
>>729451938
The Gamecube is a bad example because it had no games, even the Dreamcast had better third party support. The PS2 was a constant deluge of games, it was insane. The PS1 was the same.
>>
>>729452452
Again, cope. Even now, nobody cares about PS2 games. Look at the prices on the retro market. Everyone wants Nintendo. Gamecube is the perfect example. The PS2 is a third world console that was popular because Sony officially sold it in third world countries, and it was easy to pirate. The PS2 is a bad example not the Gamecube
>>
>>729452707
Dumb zoomer revisionist. People wanted to play brand new games when they released and held up better. You had 4 .hack games release in under a year as an example, games people wanted to play back them but people aren't jumping to play them now.
>>
>>729445076
I like game stop. I can buy a stack of games for $20. I don't get what the big deal is?
>>
>>729452827
Seethe harder, tranny.
>>
>>729451750
I almost regret every digital purchase
>can't sell it if it sucks
>more expensive than physical copies
>can't share with friends
Digital is by all means a goy-trap
>>
>>729445076
Why did Gamestops always insist on opening new games and keeping them behind the counter? Literally every other store had the solution: tamper proof cases. Did they really save THAT much?
>>
>>729453129
>didn't play IMOQ
What a sad zoomer life, no remasters for you either.
>>
If you are planning on buying a lot of games over the span of one year, the pro membership is actually a good deal, especially on used games.
>inb4 shill
Just saying this because people automatically get super pissy about the employees mentioning the pro membership.
Also I legit don't see funko pops at gamestop anymore.
