I use the thumball from Gameball for work. It's pretty nice. 1,000 Hz polling rate. Feels nice. I game with the Keychron M5 tho. 8K polling rate and the PixArt 3950 sensor (best on the market right now). It is the 3rd fastest mouse on the market (lowest click and sensor latency) behind a 300 dollar and 200 dollar mouse.

>>
i have an optical.

>>
I bought a heavily discounted Razer Huntsman for osu and it feels and sounds like shit compared to mechanical keyboards. I can't speak for other brands but a relatively strong spring with no feedback seems terrible in practice like poking rubber with your finger I much prefer a weak spring with "mechanical" resistance or however you want to call it, I'll even take the pop of a rubber membrane over it. Razer optical mouse switches also feel like trash desune so it might be these soulless chinks fault.
PS 60% is a meme I hate it with all my soul but I have only myself to blame for that choice

Phenomenal. Much better than the Logitech MX Vertical my work got for me. By far the best vertical mouse I've ever used. If you have long fingers though you might not like it. I have a huge palm and short sausage fingers tho so it works out for me well.
>>729457419
I've heard that but have yet to run into one. I don't play CS/Valorant tho. In any case you can run it at 4K or 1K polling rate if that happens.
>>
The advances in mechanical keyboard tech barely maters VS the classic gamer set up of cherry red style switches. Basically any light pressure activation key set up is fine.
Anything more and you're paying for feel or design, but that's fine too. IMO still better off spending peripheral upgrade dough on mice, skates and mouse pads. Even then, it will not turn gamers in the meh ranks into top tier nerds. One's keyboard isn't why so many of you are gold etc..

you cant with ball mice either, the ball is way too small to comfortably move around with your fingers. also it's designed to sit loosely inside the mouse, so when it's upside down the ball can't be moved very easily, and when it's right side up the ball sort of drops down a bit and moves easier.

More durable due to no moving parts, faster response times, custom actuation threshold
At least that's he, idk about optical since that's a razer patent that's overpriced and underperforms in benchmarks

What are the best mechanical switches to replace my keyboard's failing OEM Gateron browns? Used to know a German who was autistically into this stuff but we had a falling-out.
Looking for something that's good quality and with tactile feedback, don't really know much about switches otherwise.
Any tips would be appreciated bros.

I could see it happening in some place with high humidity that increases corrosion, I'd be more concerned about my PC components in that situation though. Also, if you keep a kb for decades. I like my current kb so much that I could actually see the latter happening to me.

Speed silver, probably. All I know is that I really like having the actuation distance on my analog set to minimum and those have the shortest one, plus a little haptic bump. If I were to buy a keyboard today I'd go for those stuff like actuation profiles and joystick simulation are gimmicks.

Who said that?

Spending your money on the newest marketing gimmick that doesn't actually do anything differently from a functional product is how you end up not having enough money to own shit that actually matters.

We've been using hall effect and optical fiber for decades. it's not new, it's just a gimmick.

The same is true for 96%. There isn't a standardized layout for 96% or 75%, and it's always missing a random key like insert or end or page up.
>>
>>729461098
lmao like the other anon said if I'm on my deathbead thinking back on my purchases I'd actually put a bullet in my head and make it end quicker
the point is there is no QoL difference between a 20$ keyboard and a more expensive one, just because I chose the bare minimum for something that has no incidence in my life doesn't mean I don't shell out for stuff that DOES matter
I stand by my point, there's literally no reason to pay more than 20$ for a keyboard
if you were talking mouse, audio, or monitor yeah I'd agree with you (up to a certain point), the keyboard is the least essential peripheral you should waste money on
>>
>>729459569
Really though, why don't they sell keyboards like this anymore and just add mechanical/optical switches and stuff to it? All keyboards now just remove features as much as possible instead of letting you have it all like this

I seriously hope you're not talking about analog keyboards. You can opine that they're not worth it, but features like Snap Tap and Rapid Trigger are considered cheats in competitive gayming for a reason. Gamepad mode is also something a keyboard with all-or-nothing inputs can't do, it works great for racing games.
>>
>>729463415
they do, there's tons of chink-ass keyboards just like those that bugmen and jeets buy up because they're 20 years behind the culture just like you

The microsoft sidewinder x4 was the best keyboard to exist, it was like those regular ones everyone posts here, but added with anti-ghosting and other features.
It was cheap, durable and all around the best.

How come modern keyboards are so shit? They are so over the top expensive, now its even popular for them to be mutilated like americans What's a good replacement for the sidewinder?

I love the click clack of mechanical switches and the elegant tip tap of MacBooks, so unless they can match either of those feelings I don’t care. They’re probably better than membrane keyboards for sure
