As games get more advanced, devs will be able to incorporate much more realistic violence than we've ever seen in games. Think LiveLeak, not Hollywood. Should devs avoid realistic violence so gamers don't become desensitized to human suffering? Or does artistic integrity demand realism at all costs?

artistic integrity inherently knows when ultrarealistic gore is required and when it's there just for fuckups to jerk off to

What's a context in which it's justified?

Only in moments that are meant to disturb and horrify the audience.

>As games get more advanced
Yeah, about that...

Desensitization is a good thing, you had to go through desensitizing rituals in the past to become a man. Now zoomers are tradcath pussies that moan "demonic" at everything slightly unpleasant.
>>
So far, gore is on decline mostly. other than few games.

Every time it could be fun you obnoxious busybody

When is that ever justified? Shock horror is always a pathetic attempt at making a scene impactful where it otherwise would be nowhere near as interesting as the creator desperately wants it to be.

There's a good question about how video games has trivialised violence.
You have people playing video games where people are able to withstand shit simply because they're programmed as a health bar, so a crowbar to the head, being ran over or something doesn't kill or mangle them. They just get back up angrier.

I'm not sure how much, but I can say for certain that some violence, particularly crime and teenagers in school do extremely violent shit not knowing how brutal it actually is. How brutal it is for themselves to see it.
It's easy to pretend you're hard with a knife but when all the media with a knife you've seen is from movies and video games, seeing the damage from doing something "small" will traumatise the fuck out of you.

RDR2 is the only "modern" (2018) game with gore I can think of.. if anything there is way less gore in vidya than there used to be

There is dying light the beast and dead island 2

Trvke. How many games let you blow people to pieces with dynamite arrows like Gun for the Xbox?
>>

I think the marketing departments push for less gore because they know it will make like 3% of players not buy the game while the people who like gore will still buy it anyway.
