Was shit for about a decade before they started doing what people wanted.

depressing
>is in the middle of a casualization spree
>doesn't give two shits about optimizaton (see dragon's slugma 2 and mh milds)
>censors and demakes old games
>sitting upon a treasure trove of untapped franchises left sitting there collecting dust. probably couldn't even hope to do them justice

As an MHfag I never truly understood the Crapcom dark ages from other series until now, we really had it too good for so long

Grace sexo, that´s what i think of Capcom.
>>
Their output 1993-2000 was insane

Is there some licensing issue preventing the viewtiful games from getting re-released?
>>
Yup its time for some arcade kinos
>>
They've been better, they've been worse

I'm just glad it's a decent era, remember that long period of time where they were essentially outsourcing all their ips?
>>
>>729473781
I'd include 2001-2006 as well, they used to be one of the absolute GOATs
>>
>>729472610
Died after the 3DS, some of their IPs were being raped even during it

I love them. Theyre cool. Always have beem.

Used to be pretty damn good, now they just kind of suck. Well see if megaman pulls them back from the brink.
>>
I really liked Megaman 2 and 3 as a child. They produced of some excellent arcades games through from the mid 80s through SF3 3rd. However, I don't play fighting games anymore. The Resident Evil series has always been trash. I never cared about Monster Hunter.

>>729473781
This mostly aligns with my sentiment. I owe a lot of my video game childhood and upbringing to them, but I haven't really cared about anything that they have done for the past twenty years or so.
>>
>>729472610
The only company that milked their franchise until it dries out, and bring it back to life only to milk it once again.
It took them an entire decade to make a new IP (pragmata) and even then the development of that game is pretty much stuck or whatever they want to call it.
>>
>>729472610
They're still one of the better vidya companies today

get with the times retard it's coming out in less than 4 months and has had a playable demo out for 3 weeks now
>>
>>729472610
As shit as it was in its dark era as long Tsujimoto is up there. They only had a successful ad campaign with 2 or 3 releases to trick masses
>>
>>729472610
Garbage since 2005. Total shell of themselves
>>
Probably the most consistently decent game company. They have had a few bad game but compared to all the other big long running game companies they have been more consistent.
>>
>>729472610
Death would be too good for them.
>>
>>729477471
Or proof of how bad the industry's state really is.
>>
>>729473140
>is in the middle of a casualization spree
RE4 Remake is way harder than the original though
>>
>>729476665
After five years since it first announcement, yes; and in that 5 years they have made yet another resident evil (3 of them even), another monster hunter, and another street fighter
>>
>>729472610
They made some good games back in the day.
>>
>>729477904
And another dragon dogma (goodness, how can I even forget that mess?), anyway all of them are bunch of sequels and remakes, which are pretty much cashgrab or playsafe or whatever you want to call it.
Instead of 'consistent' I would like to call this company as a boomer company - because much like boomer, they are too scared to try something new (but then again this practice of franchise milkimg is considered common in japanese game industry), like heck, I bet that whoever pitch pragmata in there are probably have to do some word gymnastic in order to get a greenlight from their boomer execs
>>
Among the best jap developers currently active in spite of any recent missteps. They're held to a higher standard because people know what they're actually capable of
>>
>>729478489
What they're actually capable of?
>>
>>729478672
Monster Hunter and DMC are still the kings of their respective genres
>>
>>729478194
They did try something new it’s called Kunitsu Gami and despite being good no one bought it
>>
>>729478957
>DMC
>still the kings of their respective genres
>Excuse you but Ninja Gaiden 4 is here and it absolutely blows DM-pffffttttt ahahahahahaha
I like NG but those insufferable pricks got what they deserved lmao
>>
>>729478957
>DMC is finished and the talent behind it is not bound to capcom anymore
>The newest MH was a flop
Capcom can only rely on Kamiya dropping kino at this point they have nothing of worth

>The guy behind Tatsunoko VS Capcom left long ago
>The guy that had courage to advocate and make Megaman 11 left years ago
>Inti has been on its own for a while
>Shu Takumi still neglected
There's not much talent in there anymore despite having the IPs to be the actual competition to Nintendo.

>>729472610
sf6 DLC is a jewish ripoff
>>
>>729479045
other than that cool puppet show and the standard-issue game show trailers, did they even bother trying to market that? it was really weird.
>>
>>729472610
Remember when they were DLC hungry and we all hated them?
>>
>>729472610
Good game company that is being slowly eaten by western cancer.
>>
>>729472610
The way they constantly astroturf here is really annoying and their e-celeb pushing is stupid
>>
I like how they do multiplats on day 1 unlike SE and Rockstar
>>
>>729479558
I think they tried but it was a low budget project for them so I think they were banking hard on word of mouth.
I wonder if the permanent price reduction helped at all or not.
>>
>>729479709
>how to spot someone who didn’t start playing video games until 2018
>>
>>729472610
I wish RE, SF and Monster Hunter weren't their big three series because they happen to be among the series I care about least from them, but I still like them on the whole. They've put many great games out over the years, and I think they're in a pretty good spot currently as well. I appreciate that they try making new IPs like Kunitsu-gami and Pragmata too. It's very common for developers to rely hard on nostalgiabaiting people nowadays, and even Capcom themselves do it frequently, but that they try some new IPs is unlike other developers of their size, I feel.
>>
>>729479654
>when
still a thing btw
>>
>>729480301
Western cancer started taking hold over Capcom with Inafune's promotion to head of R&D in 2006 you braindead underaged nigger. It's only gotten worse since then.
>>
>>729480942
uh huh
>>
>>729480942
god I forgot it's been 14 years since the MvC3 shit hasn't it
>>
>>729472610
They should enter the console business. Xbox is going to die and Snoy will have a monopoly. We need an actual Japanese company making consoles with good exclusives
>>
>>729472610
Became too reliant on their big 3 IPs as of late.. I much preferred when they were taking more risks, luckily Pragmata actually feels like a risk for current Capcom.
>>
>>729472610
The greatest devs of all time. Despite their many fuck ups no one else comes close to their catalog. I defy anyone to name better. Wasted potential doesnt change them being the best. It just means they could have been better.

I doubt you even know who Inafune is or how he put Capcom down the path of making their company shit unless he shows up on a Tiktok.
>>
>>729481159
It feels like fucking yesterday, doesn't it?

I'll never go easy on Capcom because they may have improved slightly since Inafune, but they have never thrown off the retarded ideas that he introduced to the company. They never hated the ideas Inafune gave to the company, they just didn't like that Inafune couldn't get them to work. They're still under the "Japanese games are shit and we should emulate Western games" mindset.
>>
>>729481228
>as of late
Try the last 20 years
>>
>>729479045
I bought it.
Problem #1 is all the marketing was in Japanese
Problem #2 is that it didn't advertise what kind of game it was until you played the demo
The descriptions were nondescript, the gameplay wasn't put into a genre, and how it played wasn't advertised. You got something about puppet shows and nobody knows what that means unless they're an unironic Japanese boomer.

Which sucks because the game itself is good.
>>
>>729475090
It was more than just outsourcing, they got it in their minds that nobody could ever make a good Japanese game again unless they surrendered to outsourcing because of costs. In the end they got the worst of all worlds with the overseas projects being flops like Dead Rising 3 and outsourced projects being flops like MVC3 when in reality: people just wanted them to make the same game sthey always made. They didn't want outsourced western slop, they wanted the same games they were making throughout the 90s and 00s.
I don't think we'll ever get peak Capgod back, too much of it was victim of executive meddling.

They're good, but people really, REALLY overinflate how bad their missteps are. They're also one of the few AAA developers actually trying to make good games nowadays, which is becoming increasingly rare.

I just went through a list of their games and this might be the only company with a consistently good track record. People might say some titles like DD2 or MHW were a flop, but I see it as those just didn't meet the massive expectations, and are still good games at the end of the day.
>>
>RE9, out February
>Pragmata, out in April
>Onimusha, coming out next year (probably mid-late summer)
>SF6 season 3 imminent
>Mega Man in 2027
>Okami sequel directed by Mikami, something he always wanted to make
>will get some collections since Capcom stated they are interested in making more of them
On top of that, we are getting crazy amount of rumors regarding RE:CV/0 remakes, which are bound to happen.
Also Darkstalkers will be a main stage at EVO next year, way too random to right it off as just 'random'.
DMC, Monster Hunter games are a given, Capcom showed interest in bringing back their older titles.
Are they as good as they were back in the 90 up until the mid 00's, probably not but they are sure as hell better than the majority of publishers today.
All in all I think they are in a damn good position.
