How's this game?

pretty fun if you enjoyed skyrim/oblivion
instead of todd jank it's eurojank

it's okay, i like some of the mage spells

Jankfest, but the passion is there.
>>
>>729474216
I got it on the sale and am enjoying it. Its got some jank but its fun, the build variety seems really solid with tons of unique items you can build around and a fairly big skill tree to invest in.
>>
>>729474216
I was put off by the Arthurian lore and metal music cutscenes. If you’re looking for a high quality TES-like then KCD 1/2 are a lot better

It's not quite slop and not quite soulful, it's an interesting experiment, I found the combat very good and almost nearing Japanese quality with how tight the hitboxes could be and how you can dodge and hit within a hair's breadth

low budget, but it has soul

worst combat system I have ever experienced in any game, ever
I’m glad I tried the first game for about 15 bucks before I could get duped into getting the sequel
anyone who likes that shit is insane to me

I played it and it took me like an hour to get out of the starting dungeon. Traveled around a little, everyone was ugly, but at least 99% of characters are male so there's no feminist garbage.

two things about this game

There is a lot of build autism and you can almost immediately make a truly broken as shit character and get weapons / items including tinky winky little rings and such that hype your character up

and

for chapters 1 and 3 you can literally skip the entire story, just say fuck everything and move on

Now, what hurt this game is that they shilled it, none of the ((influencers)) who talked about it were honest and admitted they were paid, so that hurts the games reputation and it would had been better if they didn't do that. A lesson to be learned really.
>>
>>729475842
Explain, in your own words, how it could possibly be worse than Bethesda's combat "system"
>>
>>729476318
Skyrim’s combat is fine, not actively bad. You whack enemies with a weapon, they react appropriately. You can have a second weapon in your offhand, or a spell, or a shield, and when you right click you cast the spell, hold the shield up, or attack with your second weapon. You also get shouts which can be pretty cool like send enemies flying with ragdoll physics. 2H weapons feel decently meaty, it’s satisfying to kill someone with a 2H charged attack. Is it deep? No. Is it amazing? No, of course not. But it’s serviceable and good enough for what it is. KCD combat is just a mess. And their solution to “fix” KCD 1’s combat was just make it way easier and more braindead in KCD 2.
>>
>>729474216
it's more like avowed than elder scrolls, so don't fall for that
builds are incredibly unbalanced, don't use summons
the lore and main quests are decent
>>
>>729476318
the entire premise of the system is foundationally a dueling system in a game where you can randomly be attack by 5 bandits on the road
you are expected to be able to determine the type of attack, angle of attack, and appropriate response for the attack, all within seconds, against enemies that could be entirely off your screen because you are locked onto a guy who isn't actively attacking
the whole system is fucked
Bethesda might have a simple "left click to win" system but at least that system doesn't piss me the fuck off
>>
The usual open zone crap.
>you do a bunch of chores by going to x and then to y
>gameplay boils down to bonking humans and humanoids on the head with big weapon
boring, pointless
>>
>>729475049
KCD sorry im not gay
>>
>arthurian game
>main theme song sings muspelheim niflheim
???
>>
>>729474216
Quite good, I played it and enjoyed it. The last of the 3 major areas in the game was significantly weaker than the other 2 I think, I was starting to feel burnout approaching at that point but I kept playing and finished the main quest. There are some pretty interesting build options, I managed to put together some crazy shit and found some crazy looking items for other specs as well, so the buildcrafting is pretty fun. I played a mage build, one complaing I have is that cool and useful spells seem to be very front-loaded, like I don't think I found a single useful spell I didn't already have in the 3rd chapter for example.

Overall the game's good and the worldbuilding is interesting and somewhat unique.
>>
>>729477049
Yeesh, i don't want to know what the game degrades to if the horns are supposed to be the highlight of the game.
>>
>>729474216
If you like Elder Scrolls but are sick of replaying the same story/map/enemies then you'll probably like it
The main theme music really sucks. The music in game isn't as bad
>>
>>729476318
Because it only works in 1v1 you dishonest fag
>>
>>729476679
So your complaint is that getting attacked by 5 guys at once is a situation that will kill you if you stand there trying to fight in close range?
>>
>>729477443
my complaint is that I am fighting the lock on system itself more than I am fighting 5 NPC's because the system makes what is actively happening to my character indecipherable
>who just hit me?
>why did that block fail?
>why am I locked onto the archer?
>where did that guy I just hit go?
>why am I falling over?
>what happened to my stamina?
>who designed this retarded shit?
that's all I'm thinking usually whenever I engaged in combat in that shit game
>>
>>729477829
the game has a lock on system?
>>
>>729474216
I'm just past act 2, started the DLC. I'm really enjoying myself, it has that same AA feel that I got when I played Greedfall. The lore is pretty neat, it's making me want to try out the board game it seems to be based on.
>>729475197
I noticed this pretty immediately too, it definitely made the game feel a lot better because of it too.

unfortunately Tide games don't have any weeb shit or pedophilia in them so they're probably not on your radar
>>
>>729477952
yes
you lock on to one enemy at a time in a first person melee game and the way you switch targets is by moving your mouse in the direction of another enemy and that also happens to be the same thing you need to do with your mouse when you want to block an attack coming from an angle
>getting attacked from your right
>move mouse to block my right
>turns out there is another enemy off screen to my right
>suddenly lock onto the new enemy and get hit in the ass by the guy I wanted to block
the combat is fucking trash

>>
>>729477829
Complete skill issue lmao
That block failed because you're getting mobbed by a gang
You're falling over because gangs tend to surround you and you got hit from behind
Your stamina is gone because you're getting the shit kicked out of you by 5 guys.
They made the second one even easier and included a black doctor engineer from wakanda to ntr Henry while retcon'ing Henry and Hans to wanting to fuck each other so all the game journalists and streamers loved it, maybe try that one

the game has hand placed loot like morrowind, its fun to look around for hidden loot in dungeons, theres some really good stuff scattered around from the very start. I enjoy hunting for cool items, the combat is OK too.
>>
>>729474216
How viable is a plain sword and shield or two handed weapon build? Im a basic bitch.

Just reached the horns and got to the hub area, cleared the beach partially before encountering an ogre I couldnt damage. I should probably do that burning thing at the bonfire the game was telling me about, does that lock me into a certain ending?

Interesting take on open world and first person melee combat, but jank is all over the place. the animations for 1st/3rd person are different, but the hit boxes are the same either way. Likewise the actual swing has a surprisingly small window of what counts as a "hit" and what doesn't so you can physically see the weapon swing into the enemy, but still "miss" because the crosshair was a smidge too far to the left or right. Likewise parries and shoves can totally lockdown an enemy that is roughly man sized to the point where they just don't get to act, and you can even build into being a parry god with larger parry window, more damage after parries, heal % of your hp after successful parry.

6/10 ever so slightly better than average but needs more work.
>>
>>729474216
Game is alright
But it suffers the issue of acts degrading in quality as you progress.
The starting act is really fucking good.
Act 2 it drops off a bit.
Then reaching act 3 it just falls off a cliff.
Act 3 really feels unfinished.
>>
>>729479179
Everything about the night time is half baked and irrelevant, but you still need to kill shit at the time once in a while so you can fucking fast travel.
>>
booted it up for the first time today since i played during EA before almost any of the story was in the game
not sure if it's a known issue but i had good frames but the shit felt like a choppy mess
soon as i switched to from windowed to fullscreen it was like butter and i don't think i've had that happen with any other game so def play in windowed because fullscreen was default
>>
>>729474216
Interesting yet jank game that unfortunately clearly worsens in quality in act 3. Now you're probably thinking this means it's just a little bit worse but no, it's really quite a noticeable drop in quality.

>>

lol no. there is an additional not so secret ending if you explore and find some certain quite obvious side quests and complete them before the end.
>>
The stat requirement for gear vs the amount of points you get fucking pisses me off
>Oh, you found some new armor? Well you can equip it in seven levels in about three hours :)
>>
It starts off strong but gets lost in the weeds. People also take faaaaar too long to explain shit, it's like reading a Wuxia novel. This isn't a zoomer ADHD complaint either, the NPCs legitimately won't shut up.
>>
>>729474216

>>
>>729480834

>>
>>729480767
The way gear works is...fine. Meet the minimums and you can wear just about anything, further points into a skill offer such tiny ass benefits that you only see dividends 50 or so levels later anyway. Most gear have surprisingly small requirements so even a tiny bit into all the stats will let you wear just about anything.
>>
Really good. I bought the DLC the day it came out and am waiting for a good time to really sink my teeth into another playthrough after the holidays settle down.
>>
>>729480916
I've seen people playing with just the third person mode and it feels like it'd be awful for anything but melee, maybe even just 2h melee

It’s important for me to be able to take the world seriously in TES and similar games. I don’t feel like the game or world is serious if there’s fucking metal music blasting or we’re talking about King Arthur and Camelot.
>>
>>729480767
i found that every act has a start, mid, and near end of act set of armors for all the archetypes but its very easy to find them out of order. i did the same thing in act 1, i found the good set i couldn't possibly equip for hours and hours and walked right past the mid set because it was looted from crates from an undead place by the beach instead from a mini boss or somewhere you'd expect to find stuff. also by act 2 if you even remotely do the side content and explore you'll be so far ahead of armor reqs it wont matter anymore anyway.

Bad. The beginning is decent enough but that only plants false expectations in your mind, the longer you play it the worse it gets
>>
Most fun I've had in an open world/oblivion-like in years. I'm a faggot for Athurian legend so it was cool to have the disembodied ghost of King Arthur around to talk to you constantly. Melee combat is super visceral and satisfying, albeit a bit jank at times. Has build autism, has good writing/lore. Only complaint is that the difficulty scaling is ass and you will find yourself hilariously overpowered very easily even on the hardest mode - it feels like they knew this and failed to solve this issue so they just threw in the Red Death tree so you won't get one shot by most shit in mid/late game.
>>
Anyone claiming it's soulful or good is doing so because "le niche game"

The AI is brain dead and will stop attacking you the second you get out of their aggro zone, running all the way back to their spawn. There's boring variety. There's literally zero feedback from taking damage and dealing damage barely causes them to react

World is boring as fuck with a mediocre are direction. Weapons and armor are pretty same and useless, magic is pretty dope though

Genuinely liked The ghost dudes voice acting though

Overall solid 5/10, get it off free gog, dont spend actual money on it
>>
lmfao nobody playing this game is playing for the ai or for it to be hard, there's a zillion roll slops for that already. if you don't like tes games then you bought/pirated the wrong game. people like this game because it playe like tes with a world and story that is beyond anything what emil and todd would ever even try because they have long since stopped giving a shit.

There's a good physical damage armor available in act one to be crafted, as well. Arondight and the armor just scale too well if you happen to sit at low HP, and once you've begun upgrading it, it feels a bit shitty to just swap over if you aren't stacking practicality for cash

No, that game had a fucking bananas idea of tying your dodges to a stat, so even though the animation clearly shows you dodging, you could still get hit because you didn't level the right stats. I'm pretty shit at articulating rpg mechanics, so someone could explain way better what happened
>>
>>729482702
I mean, technically yeah, you can make a better build, but what's the point when you already smash everything with your two hander
>>
>>729482789
That massive sword you can find in the act 1 zone that has huge damage and huge stamina drain...but also regens all you stamina when you kill something. Cue going hacking, whacking, and smacking shit into the shadow realm with a big stick.
>>
>>729482860
If you transmog those into another greatsword you can also just use whatever moveset you want instead of the overhead swings.
>>
>>729482721
That's not how iframes and ADP work in Dark Souls 2. The fundamental issue with how the hitboxes work in DS2 is that animations are allowed to fully complete before the grab/hurt animation plays. What's happening in that webm is that the boss hits the guys leg with the grab, the rolling animation completes, and then it snaps into the grab animation.

When you level ADP/Attunement it increases your agility stat which provides you more iframes on your rolls. However, the main thing that influences your actual vulnerability window is your equip load. DS2 deliberated attempted to nerf rollslop by making it so as your equip load gets higher your active roll frames get shorter, your roll distance gets shorter, and the longer the vulnerability frames last.
Is it the best system? No, the way they chose to queue animations resulting in that webm is objectively bad design and it should just cut the roll animation the second the boss hits your hurtbox, but I think they made a good attempt overall at trying to nerf rollslop via ADP, vastly increased stamina consumption on attacks, and an equip load system that made wearing heavy armor have positive and negative payoffs. It's why lifegems exist, the devs expected you to be taking far more damage and playing the game at a slower pace hence all the torches and darkness everywhere (at least in early development before consoles ruined it all) that forced you to take it slow lest you end up ganked in the dark.
>>
>>729479602
>>729482721
Adaptability determines your iframes, and so does Attunement, but at a much lower rate. When you level it up, it grows outward so to speak. So as you level it up, it gives leeway when you dodge too early or too late. The problem in that webm isn't actually the hitbox, as anon did get hit. The issue is the animation sucks him onto the weapon. Unironically, DS2 actually has some of the most refined hitboxes in the series. It's just a few odd animations, like that one.
>>
>>729474216
I just wanna know did they fix the Arthur not Talking/Spawing bug in act 2 and do the NPCs finally have voices in Act 3.

Switching talent trees in the DLC feels more like a concession of them knowing you'll origin potion eventually than being an actual thing they expect you to use in combat.
