What JRPGs did you get on sale and which ones are you looking forward to coming out next year?
Dq12 Next year for sure right haha
>>729477762I got Labyrinth of Refrain and Octopath 2. I don't even know what's coming out next year.
Persona 5 Royal boughted
Bought a game called Splintered. pretty simple, but neat. Scratches a slight itch.
>>729477762I got 100 dollars as a gift. What JRPGs I should get? No SaGa games though I already have all of them.
I got Touhou Souzinengi V: The Genius of Sappheiros. Seems like a cool SaGa inspired game.
Dunno about any sales but..>Recently finished:Atelier Iris 3.Tales of Eternia>Playing / juggling a lot:PS2: Mana KhemiaPS3. Atelier MeruruPSP. Hexyz ForcePSV: Tales Hearts R3DS: Etrian Untold 2
>>729478554What kind are you looking for?
best jrpg of the decade so far?
>>729480394Any turn-based JRPG that's challenging would do.
>>72947789211 blew me the fuck away. Im old but never played any but 1. It was so good. I hope so. Only fag story ever well done.
>>729480482FANTASIAN Neo Dimension was really hard in the second half
>>7294804341. FE 3 Houses2. DQ 113. Rebirth4. Disgaea 55. FF16Don't @ me without your own list.
>>729480796>4. Disgaea 5>5. FF16the genre sounds dire.
>>729478554If you have played all the SaGa you know more about RPGs than even the vets. That series is next on my list.
>>729477762I got a few more deals.
>>7294808911. FE 172. DQ 113. FF 7 Part 24. Disgaea 55. FF16
>>729481000no, I mean those games are bad. I bet you rate them 7/10.
>>729479003Good luck anon, remember to have fun.
>>729480891Jrpg is not a genre, elden ring is a jrpg for example because its an rpg from japan
>>72948105016 was my GotY but I get it. Gameplay was just awful. Story just carried it.Disgea 5 is similar but less extreme. It also got repetitive at the end, but the story carried it.I was debating adding Neir but dont really count it as an JRPG. Very repetitive game but... the amazing story carried it.
>>729481218>Jrpg is not a genreit is>elden ring is a jrpg for example because its an rpg from japanno, that's not how the term is used. only a minority of autists would refer to elden ring as a jrpg.
>>729481339>replied to baitYou're the reason the thread goes to shit.
>>729481234>Story>story>storythat just completely turned me away from those games. a video game story has never impressed me.
>>729481391that's kinda my intention.
>>729481414I get it, Ive noticed most anons on here quit reading after highschool. RPGs to me are all about the story, if thats not for you I dont think you'd like them. You'd be better off going TRPG/SRPG for something similar.
>>729481629I've never read a book in my life. I prefer jrpgs because they feel more adventurous with colorful settings and characters. western rpgs and old lauded pc rpgs are always dull as fuck.
>>729481339If its a genre define it, you cant because the idea that its a genre its retarded, its an umbrella term and darksouls falls into it>>729481391You dont know what the word means
>>729481778You show some fucking respect! Yes it has maps that are completely empty and pointless, thats part of the fun! Im only half being ironic.
>>729479483How's the Iris Trilogy?
I want a low stakes JRPG with lots of secrets or optional dialogue, any suggestions?
>>729482640Etrian Odyssey?
I'm playing FF9 right now. When I'm done I'm playing the Live A Live remake and the new Onion Games RPG.
>>729483268What's the new Onion Games RPG?
>>729478554Metro Quester and Metro Quester Osaka.
>>729483862https://store.steampowered.com/app/3649490/Stray_Children/They made another Moon RPG esque game, inspired by Undertale, so full circle.
Bump
>>729477762After finishing Dragon Quest I+II HD, I replayed Final Fantasy III. And now I feel like playing Suikoden I-III again.
>>729477892It's going to be so demoralizing and sad when they reveal FF7remake part 3 for 2027 to line up with the anniv, spend 2026 to hype it upWhich means DQ12 (and KH4) won't be until 28 or later
Any big JRPGS next year?Haven't been really keeping upMHStories 3, new FE, new Trails(remake, kai 2 never ever fuck FalcoM)is all I knowAnything else?
the only jrpgs I play now are hentai games...
Any of these with more strategy and less "click enemy to death" gameplay?
>>729480507You should play 8 then, as it's the best of the series. It doesn't have gameplay as good as 11, but it has superior adventure and atmosphere and better English voice acting.
>>729477762Why are they always so absurdly long? If I was younger I would binge them all now they just feel like a chore and especially theres too many games to play
Started the kingdom hearts series, took me like 90 minutes to leave the starting island, I feel like a retard.Too much soul for me
Playing the DQII part of DQ1+2 HD. DQI was this amazing, almost meditative lone wolf experience, II is cool too but understandably a bit generic in comparison. I grabbed III on sale before Christmas but I’ll probably play something else as a palette cleanser after I finish 2>>729487421Falcom and Square have teased new shit that they haven’t announced yet, Pokemon Gen 10 is pretty much certain to be announced on Pokemon Day (late Feb) and released in the fall. Atlus seems to be a little more forward lately about teasing a new Persona game than in the past but who knows
>>729477762I got Trails Through Daybreak 2, I heard it's kind of a low point but I want to get to the Trails in the Sky remake and get ready for Trails Beyond the Horizon
>>729488916That's why I go back and play the old ones. You can complete them in 10-30 hours. The modern ones are so long because they're 75% cutscenes and filler dialogue. Plus ways to stall out time with slow movement, making areas too large, make you revisit areas over and over, etc. Despite being a huge Dragon Quest fan, I struggled to get through Dragon Quest XI because of this. And many other RPGs since the PS3/Wii. Developers tried to make them movies more than games. The old JRPGs had to be games because they didn't have the technology or storage space to be movies.
>>729480507play 8 ps2its the game 11 wish it was
>>729488870>he plays Dragon Quest VIII with the voices on
