Give it to me straight, /v/: Is it really that bad?
>>729479386no
>>729479424lmfao... bro is begging to be opposite posted... ill spare you this time fool but you're a thousand years too early if you think you can just not opposite proof your comment
>>729479386nah is fun and it looks and run pretty amazing on the switch 2
>>729479424fpbp
You've never wanted anything straight in your life, OP.
>>729479386the classic "it's an okay game just not a good X game"
>>729479386Not bad, not mediocre, not great, I'd say the game is somewhere between decent and good. It's dissapointing overall but still a solid enough game. Just doesn't live up to expectations
>>729479386no, but it's not very good either. it's just mid.
It's an alright game with some weird design decisions that can either make you bounce of it or just feel like annoying speedbumps. It's just amplified because there's fuck all else releasing in December.
>>729479386It's very disappointing, but we were probably foolish to expect it to live up to Prime or Echoes. Beyond falls short in a lot of areas. I think it's more fun to rush through the game on a second run, but that first run probably won't leave you wanting for more.
>>729479386You have to admit that Volt Forge and Ice Belt evoked that classic Prime game feel.
>>729479386Solid 7/10 gameNot greatNot horribleForest is 10/10 visuals 4/10 gameplayIce belt is 9/10 visuals 9/10 gameplayVolt area is 8/10 visuals 6/10 gameplayLava area is 6/10 visuals 3/10 gameplayMines are 3/10 visuals 4/10 gameplaySol valley is 0/10 visuals 0/10 gameplayNPCS and fetch quests drag the whole thing downIts like there's 40% of a metroid prime game being stitched together with dragon age veilguard as its binderUnbelievably shit and tedious npcs, the beginning didn't even fucking touch the tip of the iceberg, the ending is the worst imaginable
Do you remember that cover of Batman Arkham City that had GOTY plastered all over it?Metroid Prime 4 is that but instead is Game of the OK edition. Not bad, not good, just mediocre.
>>729479386No
>>729479386it has good music
really amazing metroid prime that reminded me of ocarina of time with hyrule fieldhonestly nintendo outdid themselves 10 out of 10
>>729479386It's worse.
>>729480665but the entire arkham city world was god tier
>>729479386an amazing game and the reason I bought a switch 2 (i bought NFC's tag for the amibos though)
>>729479386Yea it is. Compared to the previous Prime games it's awful. Compared to Metroid in general it's awful. It does have a lot of good things about it, the controls are polished, the engine looks good, the art is very good in places, especially Fury Green, but they frontloaded all the best art and then the game just becomes brown greebled tubes in Ice, Fire, and Lightning variety, and the desert. They put no effort in the writing, at least in places where it counts, and then way too much effort in writing a bunch of dialogue bullshit that was (fortunately) cut from the game. Gameplay-wise it's less complex than Prime 1. There's less enemy variety than Prime 1. In fact, it's like EVERYTHING after Fury Green is just phoned in, and Fury Green is like 6 rooms arranged in a line anyway. There are less abilities than Prime 1, and less puzzles, because there are less abilities. Every area is linear, there's none of the Metroid interconnectivity. Fucking Sol Valley. Everything about Sol Valley. The fucking bike. Green Crystals.Sylux is a non-element in the story. NPC escort quests. Honestly it's contrarian game design, like someone was tasked with making a Metroid Prime game and just decided to do everything wrong. I would have been happier with a blatant copy of Prime 1 with different visuals and names for things. I don't know how to express my disappointment. I wasn't even expecting a Prime 4 desu after Prime 3, but it's been 8 fucking years since the annoucement and this is the dogshit they came up with. I have trouble believing it happened. It's just such a waste. I would rather not have had a Prime 4 at all than have had this.
>>729480008It doesn't even live up to Prime 3.
>>729480539I don't see how you get 7/10 with these ratings. You have 1 single area that's 9/10 in visuals and gameplay, no other area even has better than 6/10 gameplay, and then on top of that you say the NPCs drag it down even more. Seems like you're forcing yourself to give it a better rating than it really is. By your own rating scheme it should be no higher than a 5/10.
>>729479386I liked it but it's the first FPS metroidmania I've ever played.
>>729479386Absolutely.Measured against the earlier Prime titles, it stands tall.Measured against Metroid as a whole, it feels like a defining entry rather than just another sequel. From the moment you take control, the game communicates confidence. Movement is smooth, responsive, and deliberate, making Samus feel powerful without ever becoming unwieldy. The underlying tech is rock solid, delivering sharp visuals, stable performance, and environments that are easy to read even during intense combat. Visually, the game maintains a high standard throughout, no area feels rushed or underdeveloped. Each biome has a distinct identity, with strong use of color, geometry, and lighting that keeps exploration engaging from start to finish.Narratively, Prime 4 shows restraint in the best possible way. It trusts the player to piece things together through environmental details, optional scans, and subtle story beats. When characters do speak, it feels intentional rather than excessive, supporting the tone instead of interrupting it. The result is a story that feels cohesive, atmospheric, and very much in line with what Metroid does best.Mechanically, the game refines the Prime formula instead of overcomplicating it. Combat encounters are varied and thoughtfully designed, encouraging smart positioning, weapon choice, and situational awareness. While the ability set is tightly curated, each upgrade carries real mechanical depth, opening new combat options and puzzle solutions rather than existing as single-use keys. Puzzle design benefits enormously from this, blending traversal, combat, and logic in ways that feel consistently rewarding.Level design is one of the game’s strongest elements. The world is layered and interconnected, constantly looping back on itself in satisfying ways. New paths and shortcuts unlock naturally as your toolkit expands, making backtracking feel purposeful instead of tedious.
>>729481153You had an AI write this, didn't you?
>>729481232No, not really? The game is just that good.
>>729481267We can tell it's AI because it's incoherent.
>>729481417>weno need to samefag after getting btfo anon now if you want AI here's the perfect example >>729480979
>>729479386It's a 6-7/10 compared to the previous 10/10, 10/10, and 8.5/10. You decide what that means
>>729481267>No, not really?AI
>>729479386it's a 10/10 game ez and if you have a switch 2 and not metroid prime 4 you're missing out some seriously good stuff
>>729481040I try to cherish the good parts of a game and disregard its worst elementswhole icebelt was absolute kino metroid primein fact it didn't even feel stupidly linear because you backtracked AND crossed over the same areas AND they were completely different each timegame was awesome for that alone2/3 of volt tower was actually a fun dungeonthe forest was amazing to look atall of that was absolutely reasonable
>>729479386Prime > Echoes > Beyond > Other M > Corruption
so going by this thread Metroid Prime 4 is a masterpieceI'm sold I'll probably buy it tomorrow thank you anons
>>729482135its easily worth $30-40
>>729483283psh
I had fun with it. But I do agree that the feds troopers felt forced and having them all die in the end anyway, is just a waste of time. Even if you did remove them, the game as a whole wouldn't change all that much though.
>>729479386Yes >>729479424Stop lying no one like this garbage.
the whole game is the artifact quest from 1
>>729479424Ignore this tranny. Probably the best Metroid Prime ever made.
Honestly my only real gripe with the game is that whenever you're in the desert the game tries to hijack your pause menu to show you where to go next
>>729479386It is better than Prime 3 by about 80% if that is any indication. Not as good as 1 or 2 though of course. But given how fucking long it has been since the last one it feels pretty sublime. I played through act one on mouse only mode and was loving it but not as much as when I gave up on mouse input and just used by 8bitdo Ultimate 2 instead. The joycons are just too tall to enjoy mouse controls on, even with a 3D printed shell and skates. I wish they'd let me just plug in a mouse instead and use that.
>>729484068Why do you poison legitimate discussion
>>729484419lol
No it sucks. /v/ only gives it a 7/10 and still shits on Prime 3 because of sunk cost fallacy. Once we enter and close out WWIII /v/ will look back on Metroid Prime 4 as total corporate slop and Metroid Prime 3 as “actually pretty decent”, just liked the drugged out and depressing 90s became romanticized after 9/11 and the establishment of the DHS. Most things from 2013-14 to whenever WWIII ends will be seen as soulless corporate slop
>>729484353There's nothing 4 does better than 3 except polygon counts and some boss fights.
>>729484567>just liked the drugged out and depressing 90s became romanticizedWhat kind of zoomer revisionism is this? Do you think the entire 90s was grunge music or something?
