im not going to defend toby fox here but pizza tower had something special. it took a warioware esque game and gave it a hook. the speed.
this just looks like a basic ass beatemup with no real vision. there's no hook

Only because Konami decided that the very best way to handle a licensed game was with a beat-em-up. Also, statistically nothing drained quarters faster than a beat-em-up since most of them had unavoidable damage or even timed damage where you just constantly lost health for playing.

If TMNT, Simpsons, GI Joe, D&D, Aliens vs Predator(Capcom), Avengers (Data East) and X-men weren't big arcade beat em ups, nobody would have cared about the genre and it would have died with Bad Dudes.
