Why hasn't there been a single Call of Duty game set during the Korean War? We’ve had several titles set in WWII, Vietnam, the Cold War, present day and even the future, but Korea always seems to be overlooked. Same with the Battlefield franchise
>>
There will be Il 2 Korea but i don't know the release date
>>
Korea is what Vietnam thinks it is.

Because there is no way of portraying the US getting their asses handed to them by the Chinese in a "heroic" way

Is that game just going to be air battles?

a forgotten stalemate conflict with little cultural impact in the west outside of M.A.S.H
next IL.2 is set there though

Their literal ethnic trait is insanity. Under no circumstances should either side be allowed to claim the whole peninsula, it would be disastrous for the rest of the planet.

Korea demonstrated that geopolitics works in strange ways.
Nominally, the communists tied the UN forces.
In actuality, everyone got what they wanted.
China had its buffer zone against imperialist forces.
The UN prevented the communist tide from causing a dominos effect that would overtake Japan, and in time the Phillipines.
The Koreans, split in two, each had their own turns at prosperity.
In contrast, experience from a truly bitter war in Korea led to US policies that allowed Vietnam to unite under communist rule.
Yet nobody got what they wanted from Vietnam.
The Chinese and Vietnam locked into a bitter conflict soon after the fall of Saigon, over Vietnam's alliance with the USSR.
Americans had nothing to show for Vietnam after all was said and done.
Even the Vietnamese never became the regional power they'd aspired to, Soviet support being what it is.
Korea just has too much nuance in its prodigious bloodshed, whereas Vietnam makes for a cleaner story.

That how il 2 series is

There was though, advanced warfare.

That was set in the future in a fictional Korean War

Its an interesting setting but Call of Duty would make it just the same shooty game. I'd like to see something else.

The cleaner story of

"raping women and children and burning down Vietnamese villages"

Having enemy chinks might get the game banned in China and no one wants to lose revenue from big chink market. Also depicting burger military getting pushed back by chinks might upset the burger public. It's possible to potentially upset both chinks and burgers with a setting like that, so studio heads just assume that they're better off just not touching it period.

>more people died from the 4 years of war in Korea than the decade long Vietnam war

I don't think most people understand how brutal the Korean war was even to Vietnam that gave boomers PTSD
>>
>>729500719
Why not?
The US had 300k men committed.
The Chinese committed over 1 million when they joined. That is literally unstoppable without nukes which he wasn't allowed to use.

>raping women and children and burning down Vietnamese villages
Communist propaganda.
Our forces never did any of that.
>>
Hilarious how the US killed all the civilians escaping from the north to the south thinking they were enemies

The Winter Soldier Investigation took place in 1971.

>Do not count prisoners when loading 'em on board the aircraft. Count 'em when you unload 'em . . . because the numbers may not jibe.
