Spirebros help me outIf I block too much the enemies get overpowered and destroy meIf I focus on damage too much then I have no blocking availableIf I go balanced then I can't get a good deck synergy goingHow the fuck do I not die?
>>729501865go all damage but get like 2 big block cardsor just play feel no pain
Card removal is your friend. Thin deck best deck.
The way to victory is adding enough cards to your deck so you use your shit basic cards less. But not so many that upgrades are diluted in the late game or that no build takes form. You're probably being too picky early game.
Alright sisters which should I take?
>>729502485show deckbut usually die die die
>>729502603>anon that deck sucksGive me a break I'm only 9 hours in ;-;
>>729502649oh definitely tools then and look for eviscerate, more sneakys, a couple acros, calc gamble maybethat decks pretty fine honestly you just need more cycle
>>729501865>If I go balancedgoing "balanced" is just building what you need. you can win A20 with a deck that looks like a mess but works. What you want is some attacks to kill elites with in Act 1, some AOE for act 2, some kind of scaling for the act 2 boss and some way of either generating high amounts of block or a way to damage enemies without attacking them in act 3. most of my A20 wins are with 27+ card decks and I haven't gone less than 20 cards in a very long time.
well I fucking died AGAINThe problem is late into act 2 I don't have the blocking, and I have no healing outside rests, and then sometimes the events are dude 3 slavers lmao
what do you guys think of this
>>729503984I played on release, mostly was fine and I had fun playing the mushroom guys and creating OP decks. Some characters like the flying girl were underpowered and useless. Not enough boss variety to make it interesting to replay like StS. Story was terrible and I skipped it all.
>>729503984I like it, but I burnt out i'll wait for the new clans now.
>>729503519thats what piercing wails are forand backflips
>>729501865You need scaling if you're trying to ascensions. Take damage early, then remove strikes when you get into act 2. Lean into each classes core mechanics and figure out alternative block sources for each class because raw block cards are rarely good. Draw is always good. Avoid curse events until you're more experienced. With clad str scaling + exhaust synergies or bonks + sneko eye. Play aggressive and use health as a resource. Silent discard synergies or poison decks. Shivs are usually a trap for a20 time eater / heart. Defect evoking is stronger than passive orbs. Don't go for extra slots early, you want orb generation to evoke more often. I Don't play watcher.

could be your pathing. knowing if your deck is shit and not running into a ton of fights (they get harder after first 3 in act 1, then first 2 in the other acts) is quite valuable.
>>729502649With many low cost cards you want more card draw so Tools would be the best choice but DieDieDie isn't bad either because you lack damage.
>>729503984The first game was fun and felt much less bullshit than STS.
>>729505142Ironclad has really good commons so I usually recommend him. His rares need more synergy than his commons do but drafting something like Rupture in hopes of finding brutality or combust is worth the risk. If you get some self damage synergy it's really good to look for ? events act 2 in hopes of strikes to bites.Silent is way more reliant on their uncommon cards than the other classes so their runs feel more unreliable. They have the best rare cards so getting a bunch of those can be some easy runs.i fucking hate defect. ball lightning is probably the best common in the game but that's basically it for their really good commons. Defect leans heavily on their uncommons like silent and desperately needs echo form at high difficulties. They also have some dogshit rares. and dogshit uncommons.Watcher has the overall best cards in all pools. Thin deck feels most viable with watcher because they really don't need that much. I don't recommend watcher just because they make all the other classes look like dogshit.
>>729501865For me the easiest is Silent with poison build. All you need to focus on is poison and block.Get noxious fumes, deadly poison, bouncing flask and Catalyst.Catalyst is the key to the build. It triples the poison applied to an enemy. Just in the first turn you can get bouncing flask (12 poison) and then triple it, dealing 36 damage every turn and destroying anything. If used later it can easily ramp up to 100+ dmg per turn. And then focus on nothing but block and dexterity (increases block). Footwork is awesome. If you get the ? room that upgrades all your starting cards, you won the game. Discard all your attack cards. The only danger is the few enemies that increase in strengh with time, such as the time nigga and the raging elite red boi.
>>729505434But you guys said to take every elite because the rewards are better
>>729505215Silent isn't my strongest so I won't talk super specifics because I'm not the best at it. Let me guide you with some general knowledge since you seem to be new at the game. One of the first things you should learn is how all the act 1 bosses function and how all the act 1 elites function so you can build a proper deck to counter them. Doing so will let you acknolwedge good card picks so you can have smoother acts with more relics and better cards. There's 3 elites.>gremlin nob (the red dude), you essentially have 3 turns to kill him. On the first turn he does nothing, ont he second turn he does a small attack, on the third and fourth turns he does a fuckhuge attack that will leave you half dead. >lagavulin (the cone shaped bug) will be sleeping for 3 turns and then wake up, and after that it will hit hard for two turns then debuff your atk and def ont he third turn, repeating until each of you die>the three doritos, the two on the sides will fill your deck with shit cards and the one in the middle will attack. Then the one on the sides will attack and the middle one will fill your deck with shit. They change every turn constantly filling your deck with shit and attacking. They are 3 targets as opposed to one.Things to keep in mind.>lagavulin has a ton of HP followed by gremlin nob followed by the three doritos>if you have a deck that takes too long to kill you'll eventually be decimated, especially if you only have small multihit attacks and can't deal enough damage quickly enough against lagavulin as your str will decrease>cards that are considered good in this game are either extremely synergistic, or ones that offer "burst" damge or "burst" blocking in a vacuum (i.e cards that grant you a lot of each out of nowhere without comboing, for instance something as simple as leg sweep is a really strong card for silent>the strongest action you can take on events is "transform a card" at first (while you don't have your deck figured out) then removing
>>729505829Donu and deca can really fuck you up if you don't have enough draw/a deck too big. The poison reset of the chosen one can also be annoying. Poison never feels like a really good build for bosses
>>729505861hard normal fights are unironically often worse than elites for a shit reward. not contradictory.
>>729505740>Ball Lightning basically it for Defect good commons.
>>729505906(cont) Related to this >>729505861The thing when it comes to elites is: you want to do as many of them as possible. And since the pool of elites is small you know how these fights will play out and what to expect from them. Additionally, on the first half of the wing (I believe your first 3 or 4 regular battles, I don't remember right now) are from a pool of "weak" encounters. After that, every encounters is from a pool of "strong" encounters. So the more normal encounters you do the harder they get and they can be fucking brutal. Unironically picking elites is not a wrong choice. But you have to identify which of your picks are cards that enable you winning a fight against them, that's why learning their behaviors is so important. If you pick dogshit and go for elites you will get completely blown the fuck out and say this game sucks. So now that all that's out of the way, which cards would I say enable beating elites for the silent?attacks>dagger throw>backstab is okay>dash>eviscerate if you have the synergy>finisher>masterful stab, skewer>die die die>glass knifeskills>leg sweep>terror blow the fuck out of 2/3 elites>acrobatics is overall good>phantasmal killer>burstAnd one basic thing to consider is having 3 mana on your turns means you have to be extremely selective about which 2 cost cards you pick. Because early on if you have too many 2 cost cards clogging your hand you'll end wasting your mana and your turns. In fact 1 point of cost is what usually makes or breaks a card.>>729505829the problem I always have with poison is that cards are horribly costed and later there's too much artifact making it unreliable. As well as multiple targets fucking you up. I can't get it working on A20 unless I get a god build.
>>729504467I don't like this art style.
>>729505740>>729506193Battery is common too, right? My best decks are always exaust decks.

>>729501865Unironically watch streamers. There are so many decisions to make every floor that you probably aren't even aware of.
I'm so bad at this game.
>>729501865It;s random. If you play for 1,000 hours then you can get lucky and win all the difficulties, I don't know why anyone would bother.
>>729506374Let me set a brief example of a quick act 1 I just did. On the first blessing I picked a transform and my strike got transformed into an unload. Not the greatest attack but good enough for act 1, not complaining. Then I picked the path outlined in red. It has three fights a in a row (to beef my elite pickups) and I get to hoard some gold in case one of these events is a shop and I can afford some decent cards. The orange path had two elites in a row and I want the flexibility of not doing that if things go south (and they did). As well as the leftmost path having the events too soon and if one of them is a shop I don't have cash to buy anything meaningful. Ultimately I picked hte red path and then the green path.On the right I posted my three picks for the first three fights before the floor 6 elite. The first one was poo so I skipped. The second one I picked finisher and then dagger throw because they are decent flexible attacks for elites. On the events I got offered the ones I posted ont he left (extra HP and removing a card for 7HP or 70 gold, I chose the removal and got rid of another strike because the store was far away). I also got a spike potion that would've helped me against the 3 octogons fight. The elite was a gremlin nob. Of course the shuffler clowned on me and stacked all the attacks at the bottom and the finisher on top but I still managed to kill him before getting gaped.>But anon it's not cool, you're at 24 HP you're going to get raped on the rest of the act and didn't post anything else, what about thatYeah, sorry. So there's an extra screenshot of me killing the act 1 boss (it was the slime) and ny deck at this point. I only picked sucker punch because the other picks were awful and it was + because of the molten egg. I only have 2 strikes left in my deck at this point. Didn't rest once until the act boss.I got the glass knife at a store that was 2 floors before the act 1 boss, saving cash is important. And yes this is A20.
>>729505215There are no universal rules in Spire so treat this as guidelines that are true most of the time. You can't stall non-boss fights, trying to play the long game and outscaling the enemy will get you killed, so your best option is ending the fights as quickly as possible. A card that deals 10 damage to all enemies will save you more HP in act 1 than a card that blocks 15. Silent shouldn't really be taking block in act 1 unless it's a Dash, or you transformed/removed a defend or you already have accuracy and get cloak&dagger over nothing, or it's late into a Guardian act and you see a leg sweep AND your damage is solved. The whole game is finding the balance between frontload (immediate effect) cards and scaling (something you play once that makes you stronger for the rest of the fight). The further into the game, the more scaling it demands. The idea is to take as little frontload as possible to survive the early acts and just enough scaling to be able to put it online quickly before the enemy attacks kill you. Don't expect it to come easily, you will need to develop a sense for it.When picking a card don't ask yourself "does this card work with my deck", ask "is this card absolutely necessary to survive and do I want to draw it over what I already have". A shiv deck doesn't need 7 blade dances and 4 footworks don't work that much better than 2.
>>729501865What are the best mod characters? I enjoyed the Lost and the Human but they're more memes than anything else.

>>729503984Find the holdover upgrade: the game. It's not a bad game. However, compared to StS, it is simply not serious.
>>729504156>Some characters like the flying girl were underpowered and useless.Find hall of mirror upgrade, put it on 3rd floor, drop her there and your main units (preferably ones that benefit from moving) on 1st, then move both copies on 1st using her skill. Either celebrate upgrade or melee weakness on move upgrade. You won't call it underpowered. It's the same situation as with any other setup, there's one particular thing that is 90000% more powerful than whatever else you can do and you only need to find components.
>>729505313>I assume pretty much all the starter cardsYeah, there's a reason Pandora's Box just transforms all your strike and defends.General advice is remove Strikes for everyone, except Watcher. Watcher removes Defends. You don't need to focus superhard on removing them, as with everything in the game, it depends on the current situation.
>>729509016I haven't touched modded characters in a while, but Hierophant was an interesting character that used money for its gimmick.
>>729505215>Ctrl+F "Wraith form" 0 resultsWhat the fuck niggers?Having wraith form in your deck does not guarantee that you will win, but not having it requires you to have one of much harder to achieve ways to generate defense to not lose>Multiple after images if you play lot of cards>Large amount of dex from somewhere>Tough bandage (rare relic)All of those requiring much more of the right RNG to achieve than finding and upgrading a single wraith form. It is unarguably the best card Slient has and I can't think of a deck where I don't want to have at least one.
>>729509665Yeah that always seems to be the issue. They're either memes (Human), overpowered(2hus), or both(Lost, certain Human builds). Downfall mostly seems alright iirc but I haven't played it much in a while. >>729511848I'll take a look at it thanks. Reminded me i also found a drifter(as in, car drifting) mod character i found amusing, even if it was a bit difficult to use at times.
>>729511915it depends on your deckthe problem with wraith form is a mix of how expensive it isincluding the cost of dexits good but it can also kill you hard
>>729512374I think the general consensus is if your deck doesn't benefit from Wraith Form, it means your deck has issues.
>>729506762 Yeah, battery's fine but it's situational. Early on it's basically just a better Defend, but the fact that it discourages playing your other cards that turn can kneecap tempo. In an exhaust deck though? Unironically solid. You want to slow down a bit to line up combos, and battery gives you the block cushion to do that, plus ramps that energy into actual payoff the next turn. Just don't take it over chill or cold snap unless your goal is “stall to win” instead of “kill them turn 2.”
>>729511915It's the best card in the game but it's good to advise on how to play before depending on it.Noobs get rolfstomped on act 1 and can't even beat the slime.
Reminder that the skeleton is specifically a burgundy-ish color so it doesn't replace the Watcher, which is more violet. It's the color of Yu-Gi-Oh's trap cards while Watcher's is fusion monsters. Watcher and Defect WILL return.
>>729513747Of course they will return. It wouldn't surprise me if slay the spire 2 ended its life cycle with 8 characters or something like that. It's on early access and it already has 4 character. StS had just ironchad and silent on early access.
>>729513747Didn't they admit Watcher was a mistake and they showed an image of Defect being dead? I thought that was why people think Defect is not coming back.
>everybody says watcher is ez mode and overpowered as fuck>literally could never finish even an A0 run with hermy IQ is too low I guess, had more successes with the Defect
>>729515684Watcher is overpowered, and she's ez mode if you know what you're doing. But you need to know that first, until then I think she's not easy at all.
>>729515684Watcher is like Grand Finale, but with significantly less restrictions.
>>729515684Always remember to ask yourself>does the Watcher have lethal? The answer is yes.
>>729515684You literally just need to upgrade one card, find one of few uncommon cards, and remove some of your starting cards to have an infinite-capable deck. It is entirely possible to have that mid act 1. I have no idea what's the deal with the watcher, other characters all seem meticulously balanced but she feels like something out of a random donut steel mod. If they would return her in game 2, she'll need to be reworked completely.
I've been trying to beat the heart with Ironclad for like 15 runs, closest I got was 68 health but most runs fail in act 2. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong most runs, I'm chucking strikes ASAP and trying to get good alpha strike cards and blockers but I never seem able to block enough.
>>729515684Watcher is the easiest character to get a literal infinite combo loop where you jump between anger and calm ad infinitum. You need the power that draws you cards when you enter anger, cheaper way to enter calm than your starting card then get rid of your defenses and strikes or a way to exhaust them in combat like Purity and none of the cards are rares. That's it.
>>729517259I'm a shitter too but a card I love for clad is Feel no Pain. Gives a lot of block with cards you're going to be exhausting anyways.
>>729514945>Didn't they admit Watcher was a mistakeAnd yet they still added her to the board game. If Watcher's coming back, it's going to be more like her board game iteration, which changed her A LOT to the point of being underpowered.

does /v/ like downfall?
>>729517259I can see why you're getting fucking assblasted. You got carried by corruption and fiend fire here becasue they're absurdly overpowered and didn't have a plan for the heart. Don't get me wrong, I can see this completely blowing the fuck out of regular encounters and bosses up until that point because those two cards are that powerful, especially if you farm feed HP for the entire run and use your face to block damage instead of using actual block, but you're losing to the heart because you're either not surviving enough or killing him quickly enough. And that's because you don't have an engine, you just the ablity to survive long enough to kill your enemy with your SHITTON of burst damage (provided by fiend fire) but that doesn't work against the heart cucking your dmg output for 200 dmg at a time. Also some of those cards are bad. Clothesline is bad. Clash is bad. Infernal blade is bad. Here's a few things you could try doing very easily very often>Get your Power through + second winds combo gives, they give you a fuckton of block and you want to get to a state where you can play that almost every turn.>Play feel no pain and dark embrace on your exhaust engine, those two cards are absurdly overpowered>Top it off with a barricade>Get some str increase engine (one demon form is often more than enough to carry you the whole run, but one spot weakness can get things going as well)>All the attacks and defenses that draw cards from the ironclad are good, as well as headbutt (except dropkick, maybe).Good luck out there
>>729511083I've never understood how people are able to actually get a small deck. Card removal takes time, and you still have to ramp during that time, which means adding cards, and those cards you add have to provide immediate value and not just be "well, it'll be good once I've got the combo loop." I don't think I've ever beaten Act 3 at any ascension with fewer than 20-ish cards, I just don't see how to ramp between the starting deck and the OP small deck in the time it takes to assemble it.
>>729517259Any Ironclad cards you're avoiding to take if it shows up?
>>729518146It takes luck to get a small efficient deck.
>>729501865Is this game any good on iPad?
>>729517259You have no block plan, no scaling, and hardly any draw. You want around a third of the deck to be block cards, you have a Corruption in the deck so you could have gone wild with skills, adding as many Shrugs as you came across. You don't have other powers that sync well with Corruption/exhaust in general either like Feel No Pain or Dark Embrace, those could have been your scaling option or you could have leaned into defense scaling with Juggernaut/Body Slam. You picked up two energy relics so you would have really benefitted from more draw cards and big block cards. You do have Feed+ so you could have taken a lot of face damage, but you still want some block. Also some of your upgrades are odd, Bash+ is generally not very good and Feed+ is kind of a luxury upgrade, whereas True Grit has one of the best upgrades in the game. Not the best attack choices in my opinion either, no strength to make full use of Whirlwind (assuming you didn't make use of that Girya), but it's you're only area attack so at least it has a reason to be in the deck, Fiend Fire+ is good with some of the exhaust starts you have going on but you don't have the draw or deck size to make full use of it, lots of vulnerable but the only big bopper card you have is Carnage and Clash (which is especially bad at higher ascension levels but I also wouldn't use it in a deck like this). You'll get the hang of it, you look like you're focusing on damage, which is good to get you through the early acts, just don't forget you'll need block later on. Also it looks to me like you aren't trying to build a "strength deck" or "block deck" but just picking cards as you think you need them, which is way better than what 90% of players do.
>>729518526Probably? Can't play mods on anything but Steam though.
