ITT: Gaming War Crimes
I will never understand hatred for good framerates, but I do think it's strange when people play OoT above native resolution, it just looks way sharper than necessary and it makes the bad textures and modeling stand out.
>>729502309>I will never understand hatred for good frameratesIt's better in the vast majority of games, but OoT's animations were clearly made for a very low framerate, so it looks swimmy and ugly at high framerates imo
>>729502503Looks fine to me, and stuttery motion gives me a headache so I'm glad there's the option to increase it these days.
>>729502309why is it almost exclusively nintendo fans that do weird autistic shit like this?60fps and proper 1080p+ is a dream we always had, and now we have it so mikuautists bring the framerate back down to 24, internal res at 480p, and keep it at their native monitor res? Why? Just get an n64 at that point you trog.
>>7295026411. The internal resolution is 320p actually2. It's uspcaled so that you can SEE it, since that would be the size of a postage stamp on a modern display3. Rendering the game at many magnitudes higher than it's original resolution doesn't increase the quality of the assets
>>729502641>why is it almost exclusively nintendo fans that do weird autistic shit like this?wdym film fans have been extremely autistic about remasters and restorations for decades
HEY GUYS HEY GUYS THIS ANON IS PLAYING MODDED OOT
>>729502954don't summon the star wars faggots
>>729502878it's 240p acktchually
I hate these side borders and profile pic, reason why I never play anything on NSO
>>729504926Strangest objection to the NSO version, you'd think the bugs, control scheme, lack of rando and d-pad items and input latency would be more problematic.
>>729502309
>>729504992Tendies are goy cattle.
>>729502309how can link miku?
>>729504992The vast majority of players could not give a single fuck about randomisers
>>729504992Well I have sex so I don't care about those
>>729508404I don't think so, not judging by the reaction Ship2 had for not including it on release.I think people who don't care about having rando as an option probably don't care about OoT at all in 2026, what the fuck are you doing to keep yourself interested in a fourty year old game if you aren't randomizing it?
>>729508796The kind of person that posts in the ship discord is not indicative of the majority of Zelda fans, and any one with any sense uses the recomp anyway. Randomisers are for people who play the same game day in day out for years. Most people will play these games once, and maybe if they do replay it there will be at least a year if not a few years between playthroughs, rendering a randomiser completely unnecessary
>>729502641i do think the game doesn't look that great at 1080p to me but 60fps is a must when possible, the framerate this game runs at on original hardware is abysmal.
>>729508994>Zelda fansI'm talking about Ocarina fans, Zelda fans are playing BotW.>recompHas rando.>year+ between playthroughsI took a 14 year break and still remember every puzzle solution and the critical path.
>>729508796>what the fuck are you doing to keep yourself interested in a fourty year old game if you aren't randomizing itMaybe I was reading about this fourty year old game for the last fourty years and I finally decided to play it for the first time and a pc port is a conveniet way of doing just that. I don't need a randomiser for that nor miku mods.
>>729509158>talking about fans of the game>maybe I want to play it for the first time ever???
>>729509134Randos are still niche, and most people will not use them or care about them. They aren't even really comparable to a normal playthrough anyway seeing how fundamentally different the experience the your approach to playing it will be.
>>729504992why would it be a strange objection? the layout is the very first thing you see once you open the game, not its bugs or input latency
>>729509418>most people will not use them or care about them. Most people don't know about them. If the option was there more people would try it.
>>729501950NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES ARE RUINED WTF
>>729509773This is all a tangent. The original point was that putting the "lack of rando" on the same pedestal as the myriad of other problems the NSO version has was completely insane. It's not even a problem, and it's not an expected feature. It's certainly less of an issue than the ugly border and distracting NSO player icon
Weird thing to complain about because the higher framerate animation are interpolated and the game physics and logic still runs at 20 fps so the gameplay doesn't change
>>729509930It's not a tangent, you're implying that rando isn't included because nobody is interested when I'm telling you the complete opposite is true, nobody is interested because it isn't implemented in an official release. There are clearly many features for Ocarina of Time that the community wants and supports like high framerates, arbitrary resolutions, bugfixes, decensors, QoL, control improvements, sixaxis aiming, cutscene skipping etc etc etc. There's a huge amount of work that can be done to improve Ocarina of Time and make it a better game for longtime fans and new players.Nintendo will never do fuck all about it though, you get a very shitty emulator running the 1.1 ROM and that's that. Never anything more, fuck you.I don't know why people are happy about it when the community shows what's both desired and possible for this game in the current year.
>>729504574>nobody cares>this meme exists>fags on /v/ made constant threads for years about their fellow faggot>/v/ still trying to force discussion about this faggot and sniff him out in his new internet persona>some of these faggots are even saying he got better or 'won'Nobody cares
>>729510037No I'm saying that the majority of players don't care whether rando is included or not, and that acting like it not being excluded is a flaw is insane. It's a fanmade romhack that speedrunners play because they've beaten the games more times than they've eaten meals, expecting any dev to include it in their port or rerelease is ludicrous. The only reason people got pissy about Ship2 not launching with it is because they put so much emphasis on it with Ship to begin with so they set a precedence.
>>729510336I think our disagreement stems from the fact that I'm talking about long term fans who stick with the game for years whereas you seem to be thinking of people who just open the game up for an hour or two because it's included in their Nintendo Online fee and they've heard the name Zelda before.
>>729510392Well yeah, this all started because anon said that he didn't like the NSO borders. Anyone even considering playing the NSO version would never care about this fanmade crap.I also don't think a rando scratches the same itch as a normal replay. They are completely different experiences. If I wanted to shake up my OOT run I'd just play master quest.
>>729510496I think it's a sad state of affairs when you simply accept the flaws of the NSO version in light of what everyone knows the game could provide instead with just a little bit of developer support. I wish people held Nintendo to a higher standard.
>>729510582Oh no I would never play the NSO version, I'm not retarded. I do actually use Ship, I just think you're overrating the importance of Rando within the shit wrong with that emulation
>>729510643Well I stand by my assertion that if normies were presented with the choice of doing a rando run, even with simple and easy settings, people would try it. The reason more people aren't fans of it is because of the barrier of entry, installing ship or patching roms, only enthuasiasts are doing that. But if it was baked in to the game provided by Nintendo, let's maybe even say they have weekly seeds with leaderboards, I can easily see it blowing up.I'll never know for sure because that's a level of effort Nintendo will never expend.
>>729510037It’s very likely Nintendo is working on an OoT remake for Switch 2 because younger audiences complain about the dated graphics and gameplay. It will probably be the “One more thing *snap* in an upcoming direct. ”
>>729510923After the Majora's Mask remake I have no faith at all that will turn out well.
>>729502641Nintendo is very good at reaching people during crucial developmental years. Basically people play Mario and Zelda when they're toddlers, those games become fundamental memories, and when they're older Nintendo is like a religion to them. You see an improved framerate. They see heretic who has the inexcusable arrogance to believe they could improve God.
>>729501950Soul extraction
>>729501950I don't get it
>>729502641>framerate back down to 24, internal res at 480pA bunch of indie games are doing this shit too now and it pisses me off.It doesn't make the game look "retro" dammit, just unoptimized and ugly.
>>729506747Link is Hatsune Miku in disguise.
>>729502309What mod is that?Is it this one? https://gamebanana.com/mods/637761
>>729516069This makes me fume too. Someone creates a great game but forces it to look like hot garbage because retro is low resolution and framerate apparently, with no option to turn it off.
>>729502641I played oot for the first time a few months ago. After a while I put it in n64 mode because it genuinely looks better at the original res. The levels aren't made to be seen that sharply. I can see the argument about fps too but frankly, 20fps feels like absolute shit so I left it unlocked. It's not just a nintendie thing, I care so little about nintendo games that I waited this long to play oot lel. I also think the original doom levels look better at low res
>>729502309>>729502503Ship still runs the game at 20fps and uses interpolation to fill in the between frames. It gives it that strange AI generated video look.
>>729522102Retard alert, you literally don't know what you are talking about. Ship uses matrix interpolation for the ANIMATIONS, not the fucking frames. The logic is the only thing running at 20FPS. Think of it as a tick-rate.
>>729502641basedplaying old games in a modern resolution and frame rate makes me appreciate them even morefuck ai upscaled remasters tho
>>729522102Animators have used interpolation for centuries, AI did not invent it.
