Why did this flop?
>>
>>729511389
Who cares.
I beat it and it was fun. Do the same or fuck off and kill yourself
>>
>>729511389
Was it any good? I only played the first game which I remember liking a lot and then just never around to 2.Then I saw they made the protagonist in the third game some dyke looking black girl-boss and I just didn't bother.
>>
>>729511389
It feels like most of the missions take place in broad daylight. Pretty annoying for a stealth game
>>
>>729511523
>Who cares.
Me, because I wanted the third installment.
>>
>>729511389
It was both horribly unoptimized and very demanding at launch. Bethesda/Zenimax were (and still are) also inept at marketing anything other than Fallout. Everything else is an irrelevant factor.
>>
>>729511539
its pretty strange because splitting the game into two is objectively shit design if the player is wondering what the character is like from the moment they select one til the end of the game.

>>729511829
if this is an issue for you, youve already mentally designated yourself so shit at stealth you need shadows to sit in for 3 minutes
>>
>>729511389
it went woke
>>
>>729511539
shes also not "some dyke looking black girl-boss" shes one of the characters from the 2nd game who also says "nah fuck off" to the Outsider. Unless you just hate the idea of female characters that take on that role at all, in which case yeah its not really worth it as its just a longer DLC
>>
>>729511539
It's good. Just not D1 level of good.
>>
>>729512059
One of the biggest draws of the game, in my opinion, is the replay value: Because of how open the levels are, how many paths you can take, and how many possible approaches there are to every scenario, you can beat the game several times without doing the same thing twice. From that standpoint, having two characters is not an issue, because you will not get bored playing the game twice
>>
>>729511389
Turning Corvo from a silent protagonist into whatever generic overprotective father fuck was the biggest mistake. They could probably made something better out of silent mentor and yapping trainee.
>>
>>729511539
The black girl game was alright. She's probably more interesting than the femMC. At least I still remember the bank heist mission
>>
>>729511389
terrible locomotion.
>>
>>729511389
It’s a boring uninspired sequel. It was a big mistake recycling both the protagonists and the main villain. Karnaca looks pretty but it doesn’t have the same atmosphere or draw that Dunwall had. Also they hired Anita as a consultant which explains the cringe feminist messaging.
>>729512151
I’m glad all we needed to kill the Lovecraftian trickster god was a strong black kween.
Remember when Daud accepted responsibility for misusing The Outsider’s power and admitted everything was his fault? Fuck that, it was all that whale cracker’s fault! SLAY KWEEN!
>>
>>729512469
yeah i dont really want to read your schizobabble, Its fair if you dont like it i just dont really want to hear about it. Shes not a great character outsider of whatever chimp screeching you want to do about her being black.
>>
>>729512264
yeah the replay value is there but i suppose my problem is with the initial playthrough of having this gnawing at the back of your head wondering what you couldve done with Corvo in any single situation up until the next run where you can actually find out
>>
>>729512318
But it’s Garrett’s voice actor! and he’s completely wasted
>>
>>729512202
I think in every quantifiable metric, it is better
The levels are bigger, more open, more intricately designed, offering more varied approaches. You have more tools at your disposal to approach every situation. The combat flows as good as, or better than, the original. The enemies are more varied, and force you to adapt enough so that you can't get stuck in the same gameplay loop for the entire game. The story isn't particularly good or original, but neither was the first installment, so it's on par there.
As far as the intangibles or "vibes" go though, that's entirely subjective and if you don't vibe with the setting and the atmosphere, the game just won't feel as good.
>>
>>729512538
Thanks for conceding.

no problem mate, i hope you find some good stealth games to play- im just worried you might miss some alright ones because youre mentally ill and wont play them because theres a black woman being uppity. Ironically, I havnt played Deathloop- not because negroes but because i just dont like the look of it or the setup

Bad marketing and an unoptimised PC launch.

It’s a really good game, but it overall doesn’t hit quite the same as the first.
>>
>>729512617
On paper it should be the better game but something about how it’s executed makes it less replayable. I think the game feels worse to play with the new engine. The pacing is bad with
how long some missions drag on and most missions just aren’t memorable. The best ones, Clockwork Mansion and Crack In The Slab, rely heavily on gimmicks that are less impressive the second time around. And these levels want you to play in very specific ways unless you want to completely skip everything, which again is only fun the first time you figure it out. After that it just becomes a speedrun trick.

Is noone gonna mention the plot is a ripoff of the first game's story DLC?
>>
The setting is pretty boring and the characters were recicled.
>>
>>729512617
I'm not in the mood for going over every single aspect since we had these threads for years now and everything was said already. There was a thread just a couple of days ago where one passionate autist even dissected the way consequences in D2 work and how fake the illsuion of them is. You can search the acrhives.

But least two of your statements are objectively disingenuous - flow and story

The flow:
https://youtu.be/VvkRANqtQjI?si=OC5sqaPC19ZkxLzo

And with the story you're being a tricky cunt. It's not about how Joyce or Dostoevsky it is. It's about narration, pacing, worldbuilding and use of characters. And D2 shits the bed tremendously in comparison to D1. By not having a buildup, by reusing plotbits from D1 and DLCs and by assassinating characters.
>>
>>729513212
Why would they do this?
>>
>>729513212
Probably not, because it’s an extremely well known fact.

I guess the logic is that they were trying to accommodate the people who didn’t play the DLC, but it still feels lazy.
>>
>>729513290
Anita cried that they didn’t make her sympathetic enough.
>>
Game was two short.

Level design for the transforming house and the time travel mansion mission was insane though.
>>
>>729513271
I still think the biggest missed opportunity is that they set the Crown Killer up as the Daud of Dishonored 2, and then she ends up just being the first real target you get after arriving at Serkonos.

It’d be like if the Flooded District was the first mission after the prison in the first game instead of the Abbey.
>>
>>729511389
>Why did this flop?
Because it was slop.
>>
>>729513467
The pacing is all over the place the first mission feels like something that is supposed to happen somewhere around 2/3 of the game. They try to hype up the crown killer and then it's instantly forgotten.
There's no feeling of progression and the ending just happens.
>>
>>729513368
>villain tortures and murders innocent people for shits and giggles
>but its okay because she was the Emperor’s bastard child and was cheated out of the throne because of the patriarchy

I swear modern liberals don’t understand how to write morally grey villains. A person isn’t admonished from guilt just because they had a rough upbringing. You just know it came from the weird feminist obsession of romanticising witches too.
>>
>>729511389
>Retcons the 1st game
>Not as fun
>Ran like shit on PC at launch
Those were the reason why I didn't like it.
>>
>>729512617
the story is worse and that's all most plebians care about
>>
Arkane has a little issue that their games just feel kinda generic. I don't know the gameplay mechanics are good, the stealth was alright, the art style is horrible with the dudes looking like some gorilla abominations. Deus Ex is one of my favorites but I thought Dishonored was just okay and nothing special big time.

I enjoyed Deus Ex Human Revolution more than Dishonored, despite hating the takedown system, hating the third person camera and the exp progression, I suppose it had a more interesting writing/story making up for the more automated gameplay or something.

When you use the heart item in Dishonored, literally everyone is some mustache twirling villain, try using it on all guards. Oh this guy has killed before, oh this guy goes to home to beat his wife. When you hear small talk, it's the inquisitor guys talking how they want to skin someone alive, or a witch in the DLC talking how she loves to murder. Basically in the world of Arkane games, everyone i a psychopath and there's ZERO nuance to everything. This makes the whole experience and moral system feel like garbage, those style of games kinda need a modicum of coherence, they need to be believable. Dishonored 2 feels the exact same issue. I can't feel immersed when the world is an endless clown shown of psychopaths killing other psychopaths.

>literally just fucking complains
lmao

> Somehow Delilah returned
>>
>>729511389
Poorly optimised and bad luck I guess, a lot of games released in 2016 flopped.
>>
>>729513368
>finally takes back her birthright
>lets empire become even shittier than under emily
>masterplan is to enslave literally everyone in the empire
doesnt seem very sympathetic to me, first dlc was honestly more debatable if she was a bad person aside from wanting to steal emily's body
>>
>>729512202
>D1 level of good
D1 was mediocre
>>
>>729517243
Nah, Dishonored 1 was one of the best games of the 2010s. The only people who didn’t like it were Thief-fags who hate any stealth game that isn’t a complete 1:1 Thief clone.
>>
>>729511389
I inherently disliked the move to a dual protagonist system, and I also didn't care for how the protags had voices. Corvo being a silent protag in 1 was better.
>>
>>729511539
if you ignore the story and lore it is good yeah i had fun on hardest diff
>>
>>729517998
It has worse stealth than Thief and worse action than Dark Messiah, it's inferior to every previous Arkane game, it only stood out because everything else made in the 2010s was even WORSE.
>>
it sucks lol.

it controls like shit, just has really heavy aim acceleration build in and it makes it unplayable.

first one was goated. pretty sure arkane has the record for speedrunning creating a great IP with potential and immediately spiking it into the floor and making it completely irrelevant.
>>
>>729512617
Massive TRVKE
>>
>>729518694
Also people hate D2 because they were filtered by it, they wanted D1 gameplay where you sit on a chandelier and teleport to the next one until you clear the level. In D2 you had to use multiple different ways to clear levels so retards hate it
