E33 is a good example of how games could be made without it being ubislop or an EA microtransaction fest but not like they're the only one. In the end it doesn't matter if there is a huge studio behind it, people just want a good game for a normal price without all the bullshit. BG3 is another example, also things like Terraria or Stardew Valley.

Funding many AA size low head count studios is more profitable than funding massive AAA games with orders of magnitude higher head counts. It's also just a generally better strategy of diversification so I'm surprised we've been doing this AAA thing for so long.
