No linked accounts is funny, but in truth, the game runs on a browser, and I couldn't be arsed to login anymore. I have been logging in yearly to just spark the latest zodiac, and I think the journey is almost over with the zodiacs. 2 million for a single game is at the absolute top of JRPG sales for anything that's not Pokemon or Final Fantasy.
And even fucking Final Fantasy is reaching the point where the director would fly over and personally suck you off or eat you out just to get that many copies sold.

FF16 did 3m, FF7 Rebirth did 3.5m. Even as fucked as Relink's development was, it would still not have costed them as much as whatever goldmine Square Enix emptied on those games just by the virtue of being made in Osaka (Platinum and Cygames Studio alike) instead of Tokyo.

It's not that I think it should've been GAAS, but the level design and quests feel so shallow and lackluster. It's super cool that it has a bunch of characters, each with their own distinct combat style, but it feels like there's barely anything to use 'em on. Like they made good combat and characters but almost forgot to actually make the rest of the game.

The story areas are basically just corridors, the "sidequests" and the end-game aren't even that, you just teleport into an arena for 2 minutes and then teleport back out or repeat the same arena again to farm. It feels extremely lackluster. I was hoping this would have an actual world to explore, sidequests integrated into the actual game world and not abstract arenas, actual sidestories to flesh out the characters and the setting and so on, basically shit you find in every other RPG. For fuck's sake, even the character scenes are just walls of text or teleports.

The characters and combat are good, but the content is extremely threadbare and lackluster. Imagine if every island got at least as much attention as a Titan in Xenoblade 2 for example, a real area to explore and sidequest in, or that each character got a real quest like the blades in XC2 get. The effort put into the content is basically below minimal, the fun combat almost feels wasted on how lackluster everything else in the game is.

I also hate the story (as in the narrative). Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand these stories where the party gets totally assraped by the bad guys who then leave you alive when they could totally end you every encounter, then you continue to get wrecked in every shitty cutscene up until the end when you suddenly win and befriend the mass murderers who attempted to literally destroy the world. Just fuck off with that shit.
