If you all hate AI, wouldn't you inherently hate procedurally generated games and rouge-likes as well?
>>
No because I grew up with that form of rudimentary machine-produced content so it doesn't count.
>>
jeets aren't sending their best
>>
>>729548887
>>729548887
Why do people hate AI art? They say it steals from artists but that's not true
It just 'looks' at a bunch of art from real people AND past AI images, and bases new compositions on that.
That's no more stealing than a person being inspired by someone else's work and using it to create their own art and style. Is the entire genre of anime is stealing because arr rooks same?

I for one think AI could revolutionize rogue-like games specifically, procedurally generated content is very limited but with a good AI behind it the potential for variety and originality is much greater

I always did though.
>>
>>729548887
games like that aren't procedurally generated. They have a selection of like 20 rooms and then they use dice rolls to determine which ones you go through, what enemies you fight and what loot you get. All the assets are still hand made, just randomized.
>>
>>729550318
No the thing is that AI companies aggresively scraped the whole internet including copyrighted content, and got away with it. If it was me or you then we would have faced consequences.
>>
>>729548887
The main reason I dislike Persona 3 and 4 are the procedurally generated dungeons. They're total dog shit compared to hand crafted dungeons.
>>
>>729548887
I do. I hate procedurally generated games more than you can even begin to fathom. They are the most lazy, soulless shit. The only people who like them are people who lack pattern recognition and so cannot recognize how absolutely shallow and samey procedurally generated trash is, and they actually think a rock moving 2 feet to the left is a "Totally new and unique experience, brah!"
>>
>>729550490
How? Your looking at copyrighted content everyday and memorizing it, it's the same.
Do artists only study copyright free stuff or what they personally bought in order to train? Of course not
>>
>>729548887
Procedural generation is about generating tons of stuff very efficiently using as little data as possible, through very controlled algorith. It's the exact opposite of generative AI, which is about brute forcing gigantic data sets with as much computing power as possible with very generic and hard to even vaguely control algorithms.
>>
>>729550408
That's fair
>>
>>729548887
open world games are roguelikes are really bad games. i like hades and binding of isaac just cause their gameplay is really fun. i also don't care if ai art is used as long as its not total fucking dogshit. but i still don't play games that use mostly ai art because they're slop.

My biggest gripe with it is the fact that it's getting flooded everywhere, to the point where shit people make gets harder and harder to find. >They say it steals from artists but that's not true
as technology changes, so do the definition and means of stealing.
>it just 'looks' at a bunch of art from real people
>That's no more stealing than a person being inspired by someone else's work and using it to create their own art and style.
1. there is inherent value in a person being inspired and then learning that style. the machine is learning to copy the style, you aren't learning the style.
2. a person can only produce so much work and only so fast. a machine can produce images in that person's style at thousands of times faster. Faster being the keyword there. Companies are less likely to hire artists when they can get generative AI to spawn something that looks good enough.
>Is the entire genre of anime is stealing because arr rooks same?
anime isn't respected as a style unless it is animated well, because yea, much of it looks the same. There are anime that stand out because an artist learned from existing styles and created something themselves.
3. YOU aren't creating anything when you prompt an AI to copy someone else's work, in the same way that you're not a soldier for playing COD, or a chef for ordering fast food.
4. there wouldn't be as much controversy if not for people needing to make money to survive. Artists would snub their nose at AI, but they wouldn't care as much that it's stealing since it wouldn't potentially cut into their livelihood.

You're advocating for the homogenization of visual art. It will all look the same. Despite what the talentless degens claiming they hate "entitled artists", they sure do love to train their models off the artists' works.

When people steal ideas from each other they're protected by fair use as long as the work in question is transformative enough. If we give AI that same protection that means we'd be treating AI like a person.

Do you consider AI to be people? Should we treat them the same as people?

Which is why they all seem to worship some sort of figure like trump, musk or whatever.
All of the anti-conformist, faux-punk rock aesthetic sensibility is just a way to recruit young men (in particular) into thinking they are going against the system in spite of the fact that they are the ultimate conformists.
