Post your favorite hidden Gem games. We're aiming for under 500 reviews. They don't have to be positive either, just interesting. Foolish Mortals was pretty decent, even had a plot twist I never saw coming though if I'd bothered to think about it I might have realized it in advance. But I don't treat every game like a mystery game sometimes I just go with it.Characters were a bit too talkative at times, and dialogue was randomly unskippable because they paid money for human voice actors and wanted to force people to listen to it. they should have just used AI. Also some of the puzzles were there type where you couldn't solve them because the game did that thing where things change without alerting you and you have to go back to some random room and you could see there's a person there now for some reason when there wasn't one before.Still, the final puzzle was excellent. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1848440/Foolish_Mortals/
>>729568902The cross is her partner's who fell in battle against the demons and she retired from being a battle nun and runs an inn for others now all by herself but she still wears his cross as well as her own to remember him. It's very poignant actually.Anyway I just wanted to see you make yourself look like a fool for a bit before I told you it was never AI and the guy did it on purpose.

>>729569254okay we definitely all believe younot seeing any hidden gems though
>>729569298If you don't believe me, you could always play the game to determine it for yourself but we know there's not a chance in hell of you doing that. You haven't played a video game in your fucking life. You're that game reviewer who couldn't get over the pillar in CupHead.
Strange experimental "Art Game" / Walking Sim. The visual style can be a bit rough and the writing borders on being pretentious nonsense babble sometimes, but overall I ended up liking it a lot (despite not really caring for the devs previous games). Certainly a cool experience, like walking around the inside of a schizophrenic artist's head.
>>729569356NTA but now I think you're a lying dipshit about having played the game or the game not using AI slop. The game has four separate and entirely different designs for the nun. The background art on the steam page has a cross as part of her cloak and no necklaces, the art in game has two crosses and a different outfit in general, the title art for the game has a nun with her cloak having gold trim and a symbol on her shoulder and the art in the description has a nun without the symbol or the white markings. I can believe the pixel art was done by the dev but even the most amateur artist would keep their basic character design consistent.
>>729569695Part of the game is about rescuing the other nuns who are still trapped in the castle. Because they all wear the same habit uniform there are minor cosmetic differences between them all so you can tell them apart.
>>729569880I figured the nun with glasses was likely a vaguely different character, but the nun in the title art, background art and description art all seem to be the same character with different designs. And her habit uniform has clear actual differences in each depiction.
>>729569976Now you're the one who's just making shit up. I glanced at the steam page. It looks like the same girl in the various promo images. Such a shame. Your crusade against AI was reasonably honourable when you weren't just fabricating evidence. But now you have fallen to the Devil's Temptation. Oh well. You ever think you might have more fun playing games than microanalyzing steam pages of games that got 6 reviews?
>>729569976Just let him have the last word so he'll shut the fuck up.

>>729570341>Whether this is good or aboutMeant to say "Good or Bad", as compensation for my failure, here's Magic Wand, a weird little explorative thing by the same guy who made that "The Killer" series you've probably seen floating around /v/.https://store.steampowered.com/app/625780/Magic_Wand/Very aggressively "indie", not gameplay focused, but neat.
>>729570268I would but I honestly find it sad and interesting because you can often see the exact point where the dev discarded their soul in favor of slop. I see too many devs do exactly this and it's a shame.
Picked up Night Castle because of this thread. You can always tell a good game when it makes people seethe for no reason. Also I played the demo. It seemed fun.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/400160/Concrete_Jungle/Basically a Tetris-esque grid puzzler with some slight deckbuilding elements and a city building theme. The idea is that you have an isometric grid on which you can place buildings of different sizes which give points and once a row is fully filled up the points get added to your overall score. You can pull off large combos by clearing several rows simultaneously which is very satisfying. The game's not discounted sadly but it's cheap enough that I'd say it's worth a look.

>>729570587pathetic little fucking dimwit, you're shit and your whole life is shit. You're too cowardly to go after major corporations for using AI so you just go after weak targets. You're picking on the little guy. If you had any courage of your convictions you'd go bomb Ubisoft HQ or something.AI allows for smaller developers to match the resources of larger ones and is one of those equalizing factors that benefits the little guy tremendously. If AI was even used in this case you never did come up with any actual proof.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1210800/Rum__Gun/Pirate-themed ARPG with gameplay more akin to a top-down shooter. Surprisingly well-polished and large in scope for what seems to be a solo dev project. Gameplay is enjoyable and there are some interesting attempts at injecting variety, like ship combat sections and even a pseudo-tower defense section later in the game. Honestly ridiculously underpriced for what it offers, it could go for 4-5 times it's current price and I'd still say it'd be worth it.

>>729603512A phenomenal 2 hours is better than an okay 8 hours
A day or two ago someone posted a game that looked similar to Diablo but was titled something like the Enlightenment of Sven or something. It was some dude's path towards religion. Anyone know what it is?
>>729603849Yeah I agree. But I'd say the game was fine, everything worked, there were some collectables, and the platforming for the most part was enjoyable to perform. I commend the dev for making the characters likeable with a very limited amount of movements. But again, I would not rate that as a phenomenal 2 hours. I would call that an extremely solid first couple chapters that could be expanded upon significantly.
>>729578787Nice rock, it's like an animal hide, but it's not, very cool

I made a mostly-VN where you're in a criminal group and the story branches based on who you spend your time with. Described as a 'slow burn' by the one serious review I got.I usually hesitate to shill it because /v/'s tastes for western VNs seem to vary greatly by thread.
>>729623860so post it buttmunch, or at least get it added to /v/3

>>729564547Recommend me a JRPG hidden gem please
>>729611451I played this earlier this year, still haven't played the B-side. I mostly liked it but the final boss was such an annoying pain in the ass.
I see this brought up now and then so it's definitely not a complete unknown, but this was the best Metroidvania I had played in a while when I played it and I haven't played a better one since either.
>>729624810I flipped through my library for ideas and turns out there isn't a single JRPG in there. I had no idea I was so based. I thought for sure one would have gotten through at least.
>>729625017reddit says it's got some weird woke shark and that's good enough for me.woke nonsense, will not buy
