What do I think of it?
>>
A lot of fun even if the roster is a little odd. Yeah it's a bit easy, but no shit it's a Marvel beat em up, not Battletoads.
>>
It was good for a playthrough. I think Marvel fans will like it more than me, I just came for the beat 'em up gameplay. Cleared it once then went back to SoR4.

Soundtrack was a little forgettable which is a shame because Shredders Revenge had an amazing one. Great sprite work though, I love Venom's running animation.

Great art, but the gameplay looks dull. Moves don't look punchy enough, and nothing really cool outside of some of the bosses like the larger sentinels. Had to be different people behind the game design from the TMNT game and this one.

Honestly? It's solid, but feels mid-tier. You can tell they had passion for the IP, but it doesn't hit quite as hard as it should. Some of the character choices are weird-I love Moon Knight but where the hell is Cyclops or even Daredevil? Combat’s got that crunchy vibe missing too, not nearly as tight as TMNT SR. Still worth a run with friends, just don't expect it to dethrone the classics.

A LOT better than Absolum now that I played both (maxed out every hero for the former and having beaten Absolum with every character for the latter). It's really more of a response to people who complained that Shredder's Revenge's cast played too similar and made every hero play differently here, and while it took some getting used to, I absolutely loved that it did. I actually prefer grabs being commands now if it means being able to grab anywhere. Ranged keepaway like Rocket is a little bit boring but it's the only way I could no-damage Hela with her bullshit.

You could feel the executive meddling at work. The devs wanted to go full 90s retro but the execs wanted them to adapt a storyline from 2017 or something.
So they did this awkward compromise which is why you get things like Cosmic Ghost Rider and Rocket Raccoon's modern design.
>>
What's there to say about it? Just another shitty IPslop beat 'em up that's worse than any arcade one you could emulate for free.

>not Battletoads.
It is when I play as Venom.

The Punisher Arcade has more challenge, innovation, and nuance.

I had to look up Cosmic Ghost Rider and that dude is weird as fuck.

Great game let down hugely by level layout and size
The same company also released Absolum a few months earlier which blows it out of the water, especially in terms of replayability

I appreciate the work that went into trying to improve upon the TMNT combat with stuff like flight, or canceling out of damage animations by swapping characters. But I agree with other people here that the whole game feels lame in comparison. Levels are very boring, the dialouge is feel lobotomized, music is unremarkable despite being the same composer Tee Lopes.

>Absolum
>replayable
LMAO. It's just SoR4's roguelike mode stretched to its absolute thinnest. The so-called roguelike element is mostly applying passive effects, and worse, locking moves behind boss fights. And a good chunk of each playthrough is holding the Speedup button because it's littered with unavoidable interruptions. Oh, a slightly tougher enemy is coming from the opposite side of the map, better stop the game and move the camera towards it and waste 10 seconds of your time. Repeat 30 times.
Replayable is playing through the game with two characters who play completely differently than the last time instead of hoping that I get something else other than a fire DoT on block/dodge/clash.

I just played Cosmic Invasion and I can't remember any songs.
Been months since I played Shredder's Revenge but King of the Spill still pops in my head now and then.
