Im all for the "french" comics scifi. Something like Metabarons/The Incal. Its scifi, but with a bit of high fantasy in there too. You get a mix of it all. Some planets are huge deserts with a bit of technology and ships around, with some almost mystical magic like elements. But then the next planet is a huge 40K hive city world, or a massive space station thats thousands of years old.
