I think what rubs people the wrong way is how buying one can cost hundreds of dollars when they used to be e-waste laying on the roadside, they're not worth that price but you might not have any alternative. I have two since I kept the one I bought as a kid and I actually did find one on the roadside years back, if they ever die on me it becomes a pretty hard question whether or not I want to replace them or just fully emulate.
