THE ETERNAL DEBATE.

Which of these time travel ludokino VNs is better?
>>
>>729613876
what the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>729614064
You know damn well he's talking about Steins;Gate vs. R11 vs. YU-NO. Don’t play dumb. Steins;Gate might have the best pacing and production values, but YU-NO walked so the others could run. R11 is just pure kino if you can stomach the jank.
>>
>>729613876
I've never read it but it's almost certainly better than Steins;Gate which has aged like milk and I didn't think it was that good when it came out anyway.
>>
If you truly think Sekimeiya is good and you're not trolling, I will give it a try. I've been on a LN binge just reading a shitload of books, and for something that is supposed to be 40 hours but is the same price, that's a hard deal to pass up.
>>
Been meaning to play Sekimeiya as well, im worried that Im too retarded for it since its apparently one of those games where you need to take notes yourself.
Do love Steins Gate personally.

How I would describe Sekimeiya is that it's an absolutely horrible story from the perspective of characters and moment to moment writing, with many drawn out sequences and long theorycrafting tangents, but it has the best time travel mechanics out of any work of fiction, and the text is amazingly dense with clues to solve the mysteries and mechanics. Spoiler for post-game, you unlock a bunch of tips by going through the entire game again in fast forward mode and along the way you'll see all of the behind the scenes of the mystery on a plot graph, it's genuinely so fucking cool.
If this doesn't sound like fun, don't read it. Otherwise, it's pretty great.
Also, picrel, this guy Sai with the hoodie cucks the schizogod MC.
>>
>>729614859
I didn't really like Primer.
>>
>>729614859
no he doesnt stop trolling, shiroya has this reaction because they get stuck in the attic and when they both come back downstairs she knows this is the same sai
>>
>>729613876
Both unironically mogged by ghost trick (not a VN)
Sekimeiya is autistically good, has one of the best mysteries to solve in this genre but sacrificed character writing to achieve it which is not ideal.
Steins Gate is dumb shit for someone who thought let's make ever17 without the intrigue but let's include dumb memes from 2ch instead and even more apparent otaku waifubait slop

Sekimeiya is like one of those puzzle cubes, it's not an actual story, the writer made no effort in developing charming characters or making you attached to them, it's just theorycrafting autismo, it was obviously made by a few turbo autists in a discord server.
>>
>>729615307
You should have spoiler tagged that, but yes, I was joking.
>>729615248
I don't know what "Primer" is, sorry.
>>
>>729615532
It's a movie that depicts time travel realistically.
>>
>>729615307
>missing the figurative meaning of getting locked in a bedroom together and having to change clothes
ngmi
>>
>>729615657
I see. Well, if it helps your decision to read, the mechanics of Sekimeiya are not realistic. But they are strongly logical, to the detriment of basically everything else. Whether or not this is an acceptable compromise is up to you.
>>
So is there cuckshit or not
the fact that there has to be a debate on this is already turning me away
>>
>>729613876
Steins;Gate is the best time travel story in anything.
>>
>>729615495
>Sekimeiya is like one of those puzzle cubes, it's not an actual story, the writer made no effort in developing charming characters or making you attached to them
i agree on paper but not in practice, despite being mentally exhausted by the end of the story i found myself really attached to atsuki and shiroya and found myself wanting to see an epilogue showing what happened to all the others who were still trapped in the tower. especially akaro and katei too, given that they were ratted out by atsuki and are probably going to jail, akaro was probably going to get wacked for his failure
>>
>>729613876
Your Sekimeme game is terribly mediocre, stop shilling it.
Robotic chars, awful pacing, meme mystery.
>>
>>729616258
There is no cuckoldry, or indeed any real romance, of any kind. I was making a joke about a scene that looks horrible out of context, but makes perfect sense with the surrounding story.
>>
>>729613876
I did not like a single character in Steins;Gate.
>>
>>729613876

I have an extremely interesting piece of trivia to share about The Sekimeiya that only came to my attention after casually browsing the Steam forums a few months ago.
Would you believe me when I say that The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass is at least, in part, a licensed Doctor Who spinoff?

>>
>>729616920
wtf lol. it looks like this was a kickstarter reward but even so why didnt they use this to help market the game? surely the backer would have been on board? or was the bbc being moronic about it
>>
>>729613876
ive only seen the anime and i fell asleep halfway through
>>
>>729616920
I don't get it. How can it be licensed if it's a crossover character? This doesn't seem related to DW at all.
>>
>>729613876
Timsplitters future perfect.
>b-but that's not a VN
I don't care it's still the best time travel VN.
>>
>>729618378
BASED
luv me some timesplitters
>>
>>729618378
Dogshit compared as a story compared to SG, you only like it because of nostalgia.
>>
>>729615467
sell me on ghost trick. it doesnt look that interesting desu
>>
>>729613876
When i was reading steins gate, when i heard that main menu song on the piano, i knew it was going to be really special.
>>
>>729619961
Sekimeiya can't even compare.
>>
>>729620494
never read it but it is hard to imagine that anything could be as thoughtful as stein gate in the way that i love
>>
Why do VN threads get so little traffic on /v/
>>
>>729620828
Too many people busy obsessing over politics and shooty games and rollslop instead.
>>
>>729621350
This. The board is now also full of zoomers who would rather sit around doing nothing than read an enjoyable novel. Reading is unfashionable and anti-intellectual speech is applauded. Sad.
>>
>>729613876
I dropped the Steins gate anime years ago. Boring as fuck.
>>
>>729613876
Sekimeiya was genuinely good, but suffers significantly from its low budget and lack of polish. A slightly expanded, higher budget remake would mog S;G.
>>
>>729622281
By "slightly expanded", I hope you mean a fleshed out ending and most of the pointless fluff text removed. Otherwise, agreed, it was a good and overhated novel.
>>
Anyone reading any new vns?
>>
>>729623215
New as in just came out? Nah. But I am planning to read Higurashi soon. I hear great things
>>
>>729622489
Remove fluff, add some meaningful conversation in its place, expand the ending, add a "Sai wins" ending and "Akaro wins" ending to flesh out the characters and their motivations.
>>
>>729623449
Yep, I like the sound of that. What did Sai want anyway? I've forgotten. I know Akaro was part of that group who were stealing all the jewels and that's why he was there.
>>
>>729623449
Also, more CGs.

Sai wanted to use the sekimeiyas to get rich and rule the world, across the three world lines hes the only other person apart from atsuki who figures out the sekimeiyas powers to their full extent
>>
>>729624523
>>729623786
>>
>>729624523
Then why is he unable to leave the tower like Atsuki and Shiroya? I know their escape relied on Shiroya leaving first to open the door from the outside, so was that it? He also didn't seem particularly aware of what had even happened during the ending where he and Akaro cuss Atsuki out for "leaving them behind", which was honestly a dick move, even if they're bad guys. They're stuck for eternity in that tower until the loop is broken.
>>
>>729625063
Im about to go to bed and im too tired to explain in detail.
Basically that worlds version of Sai is from an earlier point in time and that specific version of Sai is the "home world" version of that world. So not only does he have no knowledge of the sekimeiyas true ability, he has not shifted from anywhere else with mistaken residual knowledge, like what happened to atsuki world shifting a bunch by mistake and not realising it due to lack of understanding of the sekimeiyas mechanics.
That worlds version of Sai is totally clueless in that world, at that specific time.
>>
>>729625450
Quick correction, he might have shifted from elsewhere and not realised it at all, but IIRC i dont think he did. Either way the result is the same, he doesnt have the knowledge or tools to escape at that moment in space and time
>>
>>729613876
I didn't like either of them.
>>
>>729613876
why are they hitting a pose death the kid would do?

it's not directly stated, but IIRC it's implied he was a message board user who saw the post that predicted the tower incident and wanted to confirm it for himself
