Forcing Musa in (and making him part of the main plot, invincible and all that) showed the fanbase that this wasn't the pure, soulful game we'd hoped for. It was a compromised product and that burned away much of the goodwill the original earned. You forgave the jank because you saw honest people behind the design. There's still things to enjoy but now it's pit against flaws and the game just doesn't have enough people willing to go to bat for it.
