I played most of 1 back in the day and only played 2 & 3 through Reignited so maybe I'm off base with this, but I really liked 1 and 3 and found 2 to be a real slog. Every level felt like a horseshoe and some of the level interactions reset when you left and that sucked. It did have the best boss fights though.

I can think of one pixel perfect jump in all of Spyro 1, and it's for an optional skill point like 3/4 through the game. There's definitely some tough jumps early on but they really aren't even close to requiring pixel perfection and if you try them a few times you'll probably figure out that you're timing your jumps and glides wrong and you'll be better off for the rest of the game.

What 1 doesn't have is legitimate bosses to fight or any form of variety in terms of side challenges. The main antagonist of 1 might as well not even have voice lines at all. Aside from running away from spyro at the end, the two don't interact at all. There's no fun banter or clashing personalities, and this goes for the very few NPCs throughout the game as well. Don't let anyone convince you that Spyro 2 isn't an overall better game than the original.
