It's a cozy JRPG with grand adventure vibes, Y2K tropical beaches aesthetics, and a pilgrimage theme that supports its seemingly linear design.You don't really need to know much at all. The game explains all the essentials in great detail, and the rest you'll figure out by doing. I'd google the game's Manual before playing; that's crucial when it comes to ye olde vidya.

Just choose Standard Sphere grid, and always be on the lookout for primer books on the ground, most aren't missable, but a couple are, in a place called Home. don't feel bad for not getting the International content, unless you're using a modded PS2 to play it anyway; it's mostly superbosses, a few new abilities, an optional sphere grid "expert mode" for a changed pattern to character growth, and rebalancing across the game. unless superbosses and challenge are your bread and butter, it's not worth pursuing on its own.

What’s nice about having these is that FFX’s sphere grid allows you to grind characters to superhuman stats, and the dark aeons are pretty much the only ones that can challenge you at that point. Otherwise enjoy the game, there is arguably a lore reason for Tidus being such a chipper weirdo so I guess take that into consideration before getting understandably annoyed with him. It's long as fuk so if you are someone who likes to 100 percent a game, only look up a missables nospoiler list beforehand, and have two saves at the end. Beat the final boss before overleveling, then go back and do the rest.
You might want to use Expert Sphere Grid instead of Standard. Expert lets character visit other character's path sooner and easier, like Yuna picking Lulu's black magic and Wakka and Auron picking Tidus' time magic and so on.
Make sure you get all Destruction Spheres and use them in each Cloyster of Trial puzzle. They needed to get the optional summon Anima and all optional summons are needed for the last summon Magus Sisters.After beating Yunalesca, dont leave the chamber before picking up the Sun item.If you need to return to most temples and Yunalesca's chamber, you have to face optional super bosses Dark Aeons

You only need his first Reels award though, the Attack Reels because they the highest hitting move with getting 2-2-2 and it doubling to 12 hits. The rest of the reels are worse so you don't need to get them.The weapon is gifted by Luca bar keeper after having played certain number of matches

What nobody mentions about the remaster apart from the terrible models and skyboxes is the sliding animation the UI has to do in battles that makes navigating turns infinitely less enjoyable than the ps2 version.I recently played the game again and wanted to give the HD version a try since it had mods to restore the ps2 models. Turns out I can't deal with the shitty menus, ended up emulating the International version without the Eng Dub. Felt much better and more responsive.I also advice everyone to do an Ability Nodes only run. It's not super restrictive or hard and a million times more interesting than spamming Rikku and trio of 9999.
