Is the plot of this game bad due to the calender system or just fundamentally broken?
>>
>>729627717
Both.
The calendar system fucks up the pacing of these games but they're also just poorly written.
>>
You expect too much
It's a good game and a fun story with likeable goofy buffoons
>>
If you do the dungeon in one day like you're supposed to (and you will because purse owner is fucking easy) then the whole month is padded with nonsense because you aren't "supposed" to pass yet
so yes it's a fucking shitty game, go play SMT or literally any other spinoff instead
>>
>>729627835
he obviously likes the game but /v/ being as shit as it is now needs bait for threads to get any posts
its my favorite persona btw

I get this feeling with Kingdom Hearts. I understand the sentiment of "turn your brain off" is retarded but you shouldn't approach every piece of media so critically. Sometimes I struggle enjoying just looking at a tree because I'm too busy describing to myself what I like about the tree when the thoughts themselves are taking away from the experience of just taking in the tree.
>>
>>729627717
neither, what kind of fuckass question is that
>>
It's fundamentally bad, it's an awkward attempt to deviate from 3 but it fails to match it, and it's basically a prototype of 5 in a lot of ways which is a bad thing

the plot just does random shit with the expectation that you will reach an explanation if you progress more in the game. because they approach it from the mystery. So the game is allowed to just do bullshit for 100 hours and then offer you an underwhelming conclusion to the two major plot points

>who is the killer?
It doesn't matter which character it turned out to be because they didn't make his motivation an interesting revelation. He's just a frustrated insecure ass and there's nothing more interesting happening with this

>why is there fog and the midnight hour?
also not handled well in it's conclusion here because the "True Ending" shit kind of outshines the main last boss and then shifts all of the source of the evil magic to be this secret boss that isn't even revealed until you meet her for the first time in the True Ending
>>

The plot is fine

Games with calendar systems are inherently broken, since they often just become optimization spreadsheet simulators, especially if you want to do everything before the final calendar date.
I'm replaying Metaphor ReFantazio right now, in NG+. and except for some early game where I had time to burn because I already had maxed out social stats and a lot of companion events have plot progression or the requirement of riding the gauntlet runner to progress, I have actually been spending all of my time, if you ignore a bunch of cleaning the gauntlet runner for tail bait and some planting once I realized that I had more tail bait then days I could expect myself fishing. I'm just starting point before visiting the final dungeon the first time, and I've got every companion maxed out except for the last one, 3 hunts, a gauntlet runner challenge, most of the coliseum, and the final set of quests unlocked after this section (including the 4 dragon towers). I have a feeling I'll be spending several weeks fishing and cooking up until the end, where I'll then grind in the final dungeon before challenging the secret NG+ only boss.

It's not bad, you just don't like having a life and socializing with other people even in a video game

These games are very well written, especially if you have even a passing interest in the occult, then every design, interaction and plot piece looks masterful. They are also games extremely dedicated to their themes and design gameplay around that theme as well. Inside and out, they are constructed by geniuses.
However, the pacing takes a massive blow due to the calendar system. You'll have months where nothing happens, then the plot hits you like a truck nonstop. I can appreciate the slow, relaxed parts and I do enjoy build-up, tension and whatnot but Persona 4 and ESPECIALLY Persona 5 have it the worst.
Then Metaphor came out with a 3 hour segment of cutscenes between the island and the opera house...

What's wrong with it?

i try to turn my brain off with persona 5 but that game story and characters are just way too obnoxious.

can you do it in one month on harder difficulties?

the real weakness is hours long cutscene sequences you can't save in the middle so you are forced to save every day just in case, and most days are a few minutes long
>>
>>729628997
>who is the killer
the guy exactly like you who refused to engage with datesim gameplay loop and therefore was bored as hell and got nuts from it
>the true final boss
Is only found from YOUR, THE PLAYER's desire to find answers instead of being content with foggy resolution, unlike the entire humanity who is okay with being led by tv slop, which were the cause of it's creation. Absolute ludokino

It really goes to show that presentation carries

>nerdy teenager killing a nerdy professor
You know this is the most realistic part of the story? It wouldn't work here but is actually somewhat common in japan.

Playing it for the first time and I am 100% sure that Nanako is the culprit.
The way she sits there all creepy and watches TV all alone is a huge red flag.

It's bad due to the repetition of plot points and writing. Even if the pacing wrecking calendar system wasn't there, that would still be the case. So with that in mind, the calendar system is actually a positive, because the game being boring is thematically resonant, which is also why Golden is the worse version, since it tries to make the game exciting and fun.
