Ocarina of Time would be a much better game if there were no hyrule field, and all the areas were connected.

faggot
>>
I'm assuming you've played randomizer a lot, because I often find myself thinking the same thing while I hold Z+down.
>>
All the areas are connected zoomie
>>
>>729633962
>exit kokiri forest
>immediately end up in castle town
that’s incredibly shitty design and you know it
>>
>>729634665
I actually like the idea, it's effectively Metroid Prime.
>>
>>729633962
Every area is already connected, retard.
>>
>>729633962
Honestly true.
>>729634665
They could just add a couple smaller transition areas that actually have things in them.

The reason Hyrule Field exists as-is is so Epona has a reason to exist. Otherwise she would be completely useless. Which is crazy to say about a mechanic that's so closely associated with OoT.
>>
>>729633962
Instead of hyrule field we should have had hyrule plains and hyrule forest and hyrule farms and hyrule shanty town and hyrule israel
>>
The better solution is to just have it more dense with stuff like the overworld in MM. Main problem with Hyrule Field is that it's just that: a big open field. There's a handful of grottos, but they're all for optional stuff and you can visit all of them once you've got bombs. There's nothing varied about what you do in HF and very little new things to discover as the game progresses. It ends up just being a big zone you have to walk through to go places.
>>
>>729634603
Yes, technically there are random-ass teleports in some places like the Goron city leading to the forest.
>>
>>729634956
>it's effectively Metroid Prime.
Is this supposed to be a good thing?
>>
During night time there's plenty of content in the Hyrule Fields but don't tell that to egoraptor fans.
>>
>>729633962
Why?
>>
>>729634197
Learn to HESS or SS
>>
>>729633962
Do other mediums get this kind of inane discussion or is it just gaming?

>bro, listen to my sick rewrite for the godfather part 2 I know how to save this movie.
>>
>>729633962
>hyrule field
I don't get it.
>>
>>729633962
I'm glad you'll never be a game designer
>>
>>729633962
I never thought about that. Good idea unironically since Hyrule Fields were always a chore to go through.

>i-is that two or three minutes of contemplative walking simulator?????
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'M LOSING MY MIND, HELP ME NIGGERMAN!
Anti open world niggers are subhuman retards with ADHD.
>>
>>729633962
Ocarina of time would be a much better game if it had ubisoft towers, and thousands of mini dungeons, and shit music
>>
literally not one person in this thread played this game as a kid thus you will never understand it
you don't know what an adventure game feels like
>>
>>729645848
I played it when I was 9, get bent idiot.
>>
>>729645635
>Modern game with open empty field and points of interests far apart
Empty open world slop with nothing to do shit game shit devs
>Old game with empty open field and points of interests far apart
Soulful contemplative walking simulator kino, truly a masterpiece of all time
>>
This is just the MP4 bike-desert/general open world discourse being presented through a lens of an older game, trying to get people to argue for a reason why 'open world is good' btw
>>
>>729645848
More likely it's autismos who have played the same game for decades, but yes they've lost sight
>>
>>729646024
Both are great, you're just a tasteless faggot who can't stop to smell the flowers. I bet you played Elden Ring without looking at anything, just went from boss to boss to boss and said "shit game" after cashing in 3 great runes when you killed Elden Beast on your 6 hour save.
End your fucking life.
>>
>>729633962
Banjo Kazooie/Tooie would be trash corridor simulators through and through if "people" like you designed it.
>>
>>729633962
No it wouldn't you retarded faggot.
>>
>>729633962
nah but hyrule field could be 1/3 the current size (or 8/24 for our american friends)
>>
>>729646024
both extremes exist in old and in new games
>>
>>729633962
shut the fuck up
>>
>>729640715
It's also explicitly made just large enough that you will encounter a night cycle on your first trip from Kokiri Forest to Hyrule Castle. Everything in this game was expertly designed with purpose.
>>
>games should be a corridor with no exploration possible
i hate you retards like you wouldn't believe
>>
OoT has the best overworld in all of gaming and the field is one of the best things it does. It's exactly the right size for what it is, leaves you free to explore it if you want, and provides a meaningful number of secrets if you do, but otherwise gives you means of skipping past if if you don't want to spend much time in it. It spreads out the world, connecting it while providing a kind of big meaningful central area next to other places where stuff can happen, without being so huge or over emphasized that it take up too much play time from other areas.
>>
>>729646369
They don't even want corridors to explore, they want classic Sonic stages only.

I disagree. I believe Hyrule Field is precisely adequate. It is there as a means to spend your time and to give a sense of 'distance' between zones. It makes SENSE that there is a field between a forest and a castle. It makes SENSE that there is a river between the river and another village. It makes SENSE that there is a horse ranch in the field. In my opinion, Termina's overworld map tries to force too many difference zones into a tight space. But I digress, I believe Hyrule Field is perfectly reasonable. It is designed in a way to put distance between zones and to spend your time, showcasing their day/night cycle.
>>
>>729634956
I also like the idea of me beating your retarted ass.

A squeeze of lemon to reinvigorate that butt
