He's meant to represent what the real Verso was to Maelle, painted Renoir killed him to try and get her to remember who she was and painted Verso didn't really care at that point so he let it happen.

>Game begins with Gustave losing his gf he loves>Game ends with Aline and Verso fighting over whether Verso is allowed to commit omnicide as part of his suicide I kinda hate how this game ends. It sidelines most of the characters you spent time with for a conflict you thought was resolved half an act ago. Since Verso acts as the player character, any further character development you did at the team at camp is thrown away, which is really awkward. There could have been something interesting for the game to demonstrate about how the rest of the team is sidelined by the two painters' fighting over the fate of the world for their own selfish ends, but to me, it didn't actually feel that intentional. Lune, Sciel, Monoco and Esquie just feel forgotten, like they were always party filler the game tricked you into investing in.

As the player we are placed in his shoes as we know just as much about the world as he does and can therefore empathize with a painted life more.

You either just delete the entire thing or force a new god upon them who basically treats them like emotional support puppets. Makes the whole journey of Lune and Sciel feel meaningless
