Flashy moves, a lot of protagonists to choose from, nice pixel art, the camera will even move a bit during battles to really sell on how devastating some moves can be, and combo moves you can discover. >>729642958I'm playing through EO1 right now and i think its because the game gives you both 6 slots in the party making you want to fill the hole, and that by limiting it to 5 you need to sacrifice two of the mechanical party roles (Dedicated Tank, Healer, Magic Damage, Physical Damage Frontline, Physical Damage Backline, Combat Support, Dungeon Support) in any given configuration unless you want to trade role optimization for coverage. Which causes you to make multiple teams worth of characters to progress easily.It works for its indented goal but also feels bad in the process.

>>729645532The double speed is handled really well in the remaster. Being able to kick up to 4x speed is great because then you have a scale for speeding things up rather than just on/off. More than that, though, the game will return to regular speed whenever you spark something so those exciting moments still get punctuated instead of just rolled over by a gofast button. It helps that menuing in Frontier is also fairly simple and the game defaults to last chosen option, so if you have a locked in selection of attacks you can just hold confirm and it'll queue the whole turn. The game's systems already played well to speeding up, unlike other RPGs that just tack on the mechanic onto a system not built to play that fast.

TB for me is only ever fun when it's not a part of the norm, (it's your turn, press a button). I like it when they incorporate mechanics into the gameplay, hitting a combination of buttons to deal extra damage, aiming cross hair for long range characters, 2-3 char combo attacks. I personally hope somebody takes a look at legend of legaia one day and make a brawler rpg with different inputs for different combos a'la godhand but turn based.
