Weirdest thing is that they could have been quite conservative with a retread of prime 1 structure, but innovating on many game-feel aspects.For example, after mirror's edge, it should be clear that you can have an agile main character in a 1st person game, and one of MP's least flattering aspects is how tanky samus feels compared to the 2D games.Another aspect they could have massively improved upon is how weapons affect the enemies. It's quite jarring to have them flash in red after each hit instead of getting scarred by the plasma gun. Im not saying it should be doom degrees of gore, but weapons should feel impactful and satisfying, and it should be okay to portray this in a game about murdering aliens, even if nintendo is not partial about explicit violence. Its one of the most disappointing aspects of the game and one that makes it feel a lot more dated than it should.Theres probably many other things. But its so odd they saw these things and didnt think they should try and do better.
