Do you do any speedrunning?

>homie went from being the literal face of the livestream community to barely pulling 300 viewers after going the political route

sad

This is just what all threads on /v/ are like nowadays, isn't it? Op posts some meaningless non-question alongside an image of a thing he wants someone to performatively describe and talk about, and one of the first replies immediately, on cue, like a dog, proceeds to fulfill the ritual by enacting the exact performance OP was wink-wink-nod-nod-ing at, and presto pasto we have a thread, good work everyone, hit the showers, we'll do the same tomorrow

Isn't this getting a little tired?

Very rarely and in the sense of when a game offers time trials and maybe a hidden medal.
I often give up quickly once it devolves into constantly spamming a dash button(always awful in whatever genre, just let me hold the button god damn) or fucking up my wrists doing weird ass flick combos like kick/explosive boosting for said hidden medals. Loved Cloudbuilt, was absolute shit at it.

>>
>>729657538
The only time I speedran was to win a bet with a friend
I won $100 for beating his time in The Ninja Warriors for SNES

You could have just made an on topic post related to OP's question, you know that right? Your post is just as off topic as the faggots you're seething at. This is not the talk about /v/ meta thread. This is the do you do any speedrunning thread. And yet your post has zero to do with the thread's topic... while complaining that the replies aren't the thread's topic.
>>
>>729659362
My complaint was more of a general expression of annoyance with disingenuousness, I know this thread isn't really about speedrunning and I'm not complaining that it is or isn't, or that a single anon replied the way he did, so much as I'm expressing my exasperation with the way things work here and this exact by the numbers ritual I've seen hundreds of times before
>>
I love speedrunning and I find it funny that /v/ always hates on it.

Like yeah if your only exposure to speedrunning is GDQ and Summoning Salt then you won't have a high opinion of it.

But I'm ranked on a few leaderboards and follow some speedrun scenes closely so to me I have a close relationship to it.

In my opinion you can't really appreciate speedruns until you go to SDA and watch the curated selection there.

Compared to SRC and the modern content creation pipeline speedrunners try to take, it's like an entirely different world.
>>
>>729657880
trvke, look at the seething replies, they hate being called out
>>
>>729659579
/v/ is so full of normalfag tourists nowadays that their only knowladge of any hobby, yes even videogames and videogame adjacent hobbies is the most mainstream visible to the public version of it, plus they are so deathly afraid of being guilty by association that they believe liking something will magically turn you into whatever person you thing is the biggest enjoyer of that thing, as if it's direct causation rather than just statistical correlation, it's like if you refused to play basketball because you only ever saw NBL niggers playing it and assumed picking up a basketball will make you wake up black tomorrow
>>
>>729657538
Is Trihex still alive or did his oreo-ass commit sudoku already?

>>
The only game I would consider speedrunning is Mega Man X but I can't bring myself to play the first 10 minutes of any game over and over and over
>>
>>729657538
It might be retarded but I 'speedran' the asylum section of Dark Souls 1. I'd just take the optimal route through the area, use techniques like chaning gear while climbing ladders, etc. I compared my time (stopwatch on my flipphone) to the splits of actual DS1 speedrunners and I got pretty solid times, like maybe a few seconds off the best time. It's only around 3 minutes so it was a small challenge, but still.
Speedrunning the whole game, though?
I wanted to try speedrunning momodora 4, but the prospect of having to grind the game back to back over and over, while pretty much being forced to stream the serious attempts at a record made me decide not to. Don't know if I want to dedicate my time to just that one thing in favor of other games, and I suspect I would never be able to enjoy a normal playthrough of the game if I've been speedrunning it for ages.
>>
>>729659836
He nuked him career and streams to like 15 people, he still streams because it's the only thing he knows how to do.
>>
>>729657880
This is just literally, in the most absolute literal sense, approximately 50-60 percent of 4chan thread OP posts
For example
>twitter cap of liberal woman saying “grrrrr men are BAD”
>text: should there be less men in video games?
>thread: flame war
>>
>>729660435
it's not even a flame war, the first post about whatever drama this is about is always always without fail just an explanation of the drama and what we're supposed to think about it and it literally does feel like op just activated a robot whose job description is to be the designated outrage thread explainer
>>
>>729657538
i had a world record on something cave story related back before you had hyper autists and trannies who speedran 24/7 in their NEET free times
i tried a few games afterwards but it gets incredibly stale after 3 days
>>
>>729657776
>and doesn't even SR much anymore
Isn't it the case that he never found speedrunning to be all that fun? Isn't that part of why he pivoted his content so much to begin with?
>>
>>729660793
No.
I watched trihex years ago and he FUCKING LOVED YOSHI'S ISLAND
and not just that but he loved speedrunning it, maybe he changed his opinion about speedrunning as a whole but he used to be so hype about the most minute detail of speedrunning YI and it was fun to watch someone sperg out about stuff like that. If I wanted to watch someone bitch and complain about politics I wouldn't go to twitch and I certainly wouldn't go to someone who is better at explaining why yoshi can float beneath the screen for an entire level than why tariffs are actually ruining everything or whatever
>>
>>729657538
No but i used the tricks in my playthroughs like save/load in old game to skip every "barrier" or some cool neat things like making the boss fall off in dark souls 2
>>
>>729657538
No, speedrunning is for and has always been for autistics
>>
>>729661951
You know what is ironic about your post? The most popular speedrunners with the most viewers tend to be normies. They aren't ranked high on ladders and they don't even get tech consistently. But because they are more charismatic than "autistics" they get to turn speedrunning into a job. It was never about skillful expression, hence why so much speedrunning content specifically tries to appeal to normies like you.
>>
>>729657538
I do and I hate it.
>>
>>729662140
Cool blog post, not reading all that. Sorry you're upset about being autistic or something
>>
>>729662140
Josh and clabe are definitely spergs lol. Just charismatic spergs. Sm64 and zelda might be different though, if thats what you are referring to
>>
>>729662616
I'm not upset about anything, you're the one making passive-aggressive remarks and calling me autistic when you literally know nothing about me.
>>
>>729663336
Well you referred to me as a normie kek, you're absolutely autistic.
