what's taking so long
>>729661056Every nonApple ARM chip sucks dog shit, AMD is dragging their ass on the IGP front, and Nvidia rather ship 100 million carputers per year.
>>7296610568gb of ram and 6gb of vram, guaranteed
>>729661747The lowest IQ poster to ever desecrate this shit board
>>729661056It's because Valve isn't working on one and you got meme'd into waiting by listening to some anon pulling thing straight out of his ass. If anything the earliest Valve will start working on Deck 2 is 203X and only if there's enough of "technological leap" to justify it (Spoiler: there won't be because Gabe can still play DOTA 2 on Deck 1)
WHATS TAKING YOU SO LONG, FOX?
>>729661056Gabe claimed getting the Deck 1 made and out was difficult task for them from a financial standpoint. They're probably being priced out of parts.
>>729661056because it is not necessary. There's no point in making it more powerful (assuming you expect that from a 2 version). For that you better make a PC or a console... oh, wait, they already did it, it comes out next year.anon, steam deck still has a lot of life, a lot.
the only way valve will get the battery increase they want for a deck 2 is with a swap to ARM, and the compatibility tools and arm chips themselves are years away from being ready. just buy a used one if you're waitfagging
no point to it
>>729661056>tfw we'll never get a steam deck 2 because all the "technological leaps" are focused on rendering more ass hairs and not low-end optimizations
>>729661056>RAM prices still through the roof>Valve is focused on the GabeCube>R&D still looking into whether 16:10 was a good idea or not>AMD hasn't released a chip that would be a significant enough performance increase over the first Steam Deck's APU.Give it another two years.
>>729662021Why do total shit eating retards like you feel confident enough to make posts like this when you don't know the first thing about either ISA?
>>729662075>Give it another two years.even more
>>729661056You can wait 3y or get something with the halo apu and have exactly the same experience but at 1.5k euro dollars by then it will end up expensive anyway
The largest improvements AMD made were on the z2e.And it's like, MARGINALLY better than the z1e.Valve would have to R&D a whole new chip, what's more likely is after the steam machine is out, and has been out, they work on miniaturizing and getting it into a more portable form factor. That will probably end up being the deck 2, in a few years.
>>729662534To back up my point I refer to the OLED deck, the whole thing was an optimization test, they shrunk it down, rearranged components for better efficiency and a bigger battery. That's the sort of improvement I would expect from machine>deck2
There really isn't a point, even if they somehow shipped one at $600 that could play more current gen games there isn't much of a selling point when the games suck>omg I can play goy of war at 60fps nowthis only appeals to r/steamdeck posters
>>729661885THen Valve should state it, since there are people waiting for the Deck 2, and not buying the actual one. Keep your conspiracies in check, retard
>>729662690They never stated they are working on Deck 2 and that should be enough of a confirmation for anyone not retarded, retard.
>>729661056Can't decide if I should sell my PS5 for a Steam Deck or not, and eventually add a Steam Machine to my setup.I have kids so much prefer playing vidya handheld on my Switch 2, there also isn't any attractive AAA slop coming out and I don't care about GTA after GTA5.
>>729662534Phoenix and Strix Point are the actual names relevant to AMD's latest APU, and these are designed to be be 28w-45w laptop chips. Scaling down in power below standard cTDP is just a funny trick. None of them were designed to be low power chips like Van Gogh was. The basal issue here is that AMD has no incentive to produce a true low power chips to replace Van Gogh, because Van Gogh wasn't even made for Valve, it was designed for an abandoned Microsoft Surface Book laptop/convertible. Valve only purchased the leftovers.
>>729662869deck will probably suit you fine, you can hook it up with a little $20 hdmi/dp dock to your TV if your kids want to play games, and can emulate. But yeah latest and 'greatest' shit is a no go.I use my deck in a way that honestly hte machine doesn't even seem worthwhile to me, but maybe you see it diferent.
Nintendo get access to all the mobile parts. Sorry steamy secondaries.
>>729662771>They never stated they are working on Deck 2They did, and you're one of the biggest retards to ever post here.
>>729662690They did. They've said a good few times that they aren't currently working on a steam deck 2 and that they don't want to make iterative devices.
>>729662869Keep in mind that the Steam Machine will be weaker than the PS5 with the current specs despite being more expensive. So you're paying more for less. You could probably just buy a fucking PS Portal and be covered for a fraction of the cost. If you have a Switch 2 and PS5, you're missing out on a handful of indies and emulation but you could buy some cheap emulation handheld instead. The Deck is dated tech, if you want an UMPC then there's better options from Asus and Lenovo right now.
>>729662869While I would recommend getting a Deck think twice before selling your stuff. For some reason people often downplay or exaggerate the power of the Deck so getting accurate benchmarks is really difficult.
>>729663018Why do you show up just to lie on the internet?“The thing we’re making sure of is that it’s a worthwhile enough performance upgrade [for a Steam Deck 2] to make sense as a standalone product,” Griffais told IGN. “We’re not interested in getting to a point where it’s 20 or 30 or even 50 percent more performance at the same battery life. We want something a little bit more demarcated than that.”A couple Valve engineers have explicitly stated they are already working on a Deck 2, they just want it to be a substantial performance uplift. You shitskin retard faggot.
>>729661056
>>729663525Given the chip and ram shortage, what exactly is valve "working on" you delusional retard
>>729661747Can't even save this by saying it's bait. That's full on retardation
>>729663731>reeeeeee I know better than the engineer from the actual company reeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!Why do you nonwhite retards even post here
>>729663994Lmao, I'll take my dub, thanks
r&d takes lonnnnng time
>>729664280It actually doesn't which is why gook companies can push out new handhelds every single year as soon as new chips are available
>>729663731I swear to god there has been a chip "shortage" everyday since 2020 despite how much government money has been poured into manufacturing chips
>>729662021arm 'ecks make no sense with shit like this on the horizonthe future of mobile is pc games running through proton'eck has to be a higher power handheld than a fucking phone
>>729664559There was never any shortage of N5/N4 chips from TSMC and the headline you're responding to is intentionally misleading
>>729664559All those companies we paid to make chips are no longer making chips, they're making AI. Thanks Biden, thanks CHIPS act
>>729662534It wouldn't surprise me if they make a "Deck Mini" with an ARM ship once FLEX can run 90% of steams library just like Proton can. They are probably looking at current ARM chips and looking for one that is comparable to the Deck in real world scenarios since x64 seems to have hit a roadblock. With that said, they are not going to announce anything in the coming two years thanks to RAM shortages alone and they are probably kicking themselves over announcing the Gabecube right at the cusp of it.
>>729664559>bitcoin mining>covid>ai boomunlucky streak
>>729664849Stop throwing together word salad and thinking it passes as a decent post, retard
>>729664937I feel like they'd purchased a pretty large amount of ram in expectation of the increase, and that's why they were side eyeing people expecting a ~$500 price point.
>>729665018Sorry ESL, let me go line by line>there is a shortage of chips>Joe Biden gives 50 billion dollars to Intel and Micron with the intent that they build chip factories in the US>sometime later>micron announces that they are no longer making consumer chips, as they are primarily an AI company now>Intel announces they're going all in on AI and drastically cutting back on chip manufacturing
>>729664937>FLEXfex is android to linuxyou're talking about proton, it's going to support arm too since that's what the steam frame will be using
>>729664461they're trying to make all steam games work on the steam deck 2, thats why it takes too long
>>729665368Not so long as Monster Hunter Wilds exists
>>729663691>2000€
>>729664795That shit looks cool... but highlt unergonomic.
>>729665591if you want ergonomics then just wait for phone mounts for the steam controller
>>729661056Gay retard here:There havent been any leaps in the tech. A high end one will maybe get you like 20 to 30% perfomance, but that means a game that runs at 20 fps will now run at 25. Your library will not be that much more playable. Compare this to consoles that sometimes do a 10x and you're looking at a gay ass side grade
>>729665526OK wait 3y see how much a 64gb ram deck 2 will cost you
They're lazy slobs who couldn't care less about making one.
>>729661056Why rush? Steam Deck with Lossless lets you play games up to 2025 at 60fps
>>729665868Oh, Ill wait, the same way I did for the graphic cards went back to "normal" prices.
>>729661056Handheld market is dead, Deck flopped, Rog fopped, Switch 2 stalled out.they're too expensive
>>729665215>b-b-but chips!!!There is a DRAM shortage, not a general CMOS shortage, shitskin. There was never a shortage of anything N5/N4 from TSMC. There still isn't. There isn't an N3 or N2 shortage either. The CHIPS act was a subsidy to intel. You've never read it.Micron is increasing DRAM production eight fold for 2026. Killing Crucial is laughably meaningless as nobody buys Crucial branded RAM.You are just regurgitating headlines you don't understand because you're a nonwhite shitskin.
>>729666180Good luck
>>729666562I have crucial branded ram and ssd what's the problem?
>>729666562We can still get fairly cheap ddr4 ram>B-but that too sloooooowDon´t care.I got 32gb (2x16) ddr4 for 85€ last week.
>>729666666 test
>>729666760The problem for Micron was that over 60% of consumer sales were coming from other brands like G.Skill. Patrio, Corsair. Crucial has no strong market presence so they killed the brand to do straight factory sales.>>729666793bot post
>>729666940I meant is there a problem with the product I couldn't care less about the business
>>729667136No its all solid.
>>729663525Your quote is basically stating what the person you are replying to said.
>>729667239>they aren't working on Deck 2>actually we are working on Deck 2Totally the same.
>>729661056more advances in hardware needed and of course the RAM issues.
>steam announces a fleet of 2s>machine 2>controller 2>index 2>alongside the 2s it advertises The Deck OLED>after this event: CERTAINLY THE DECK 2 IS JUST AROUND THE CORNERValve has a lot of money but it isn't as huge of a company as most would think, if a Deck 2 is coming, you'll know.
>>729661056I'm stuck. I can't leave.
nobody uses their deck past the games tutorial levels/title menu for screenshotsas long as the eck 1 can run those they have no reason to make a new one
>>729661056Sam Altman literally blew the tech industry out of the water for the next 5 years an Gaben is just taking Valve back into their hibernation cycle. Valve time is an evolutionary defense, like Circadias with prime number hibernation cycles.
>>729668586I got the deck OLED this Christmas. Basically I can run all the games I play (some at 60fps, soma a 90fps), only the new UE5 slop run like shit. But for that kind of AAA games I have my PC.even so, with lossless scaling x2 you can get quite good performance in those titles. There's no reason to make a 2, it doesn't make sense.
