Uther is such a massive fuckup it's not even funny.Obi-wan at least has a number of excuses in his defense.
>>729685902Uther, he talked but never listened. Listening was what no one did
>>729686407wc2 and wc3 are great
Arthas presented a harsh but logical conclusion to a situation that required quick, decisive action. He is also the Prince of Lordaeron and even though hes a paladin, was willing to completely shoulder and take the fallout for such an action rather than shift the blame or run. Uther and Jaina bailed out on him. Obi-Wan spent 3 movies helping and supporting Anakin even during a galactic war, before Anakin's own mental instability and outside manipulation from the literal embodiment of evil made him turn to the dark. Anakin never faced a huge dilemma like Stratholme, or maybe he did but since he was a war general it just got brushed off.
>>729685902Uther because he could have just asked some questions instead of jumping to "I can't help you purge Stratholm, Arthas." Obi-Wan never really had a chance to stop Vader until he was too far gone.
>CDs dont work and Blizzard said that the codes aren't valid anymoreFuck this, any way to play online?
>>729685902Uther consistently makes decisions that either would have destroyed the kingdom (Stratholme) or push Arthas further into desperation (petitioning the recall of Arthas's expedition) and then dies failing to protect the king's ashes from his fallen student.Obi-Wan just wasn't the right guy to teach Anakin Skywalker, nothing he could have done about it.

>>729686779Purging Stratholme was the right choice. >let's wait for them to become monsters 15minites from now and then kill themUther literally just left knowing full well the undead would destroy everything.
Anakin was a brat whi got tricked into betraying everyone he loved. Arthas made a tough decision and was betrayed by both his mentor and his lover.
>>729687021He cut off all his limbs and watched him suffer third degree burns on a volcanic planet. He rightfullly assumed that Anakin would die there, from his injuries, exhaustion or the choking volcanic air. Its like when Benny shot the Courier, everyone assumed he missed, was incompetent but he shot you twice. The Courier is just a freak of nature who had insanely, good medical care before death, same with Anakin.
This is the tenth or so thread I've seen word for word reposted today that isn't even a general or any similar thread you'd expect to be spammed for shitposting. I know it has been said before, it just seems especially bad today.

>>729685902Uther never did anything right.Obi Wan by contrast nearly succeeded. Palps had to specifically take him out to the ass end of the galaxy to turn anakin because it wouldn't have worked if Obi Wan was there to counsel the guyI'll give you an example. If Obi Wan was in warcraft he would have helped with the culling. If Uther was in star wars he would have drummed Anakin out of the Jedi order after his first stunt and given him a red lightsaber as a parting gift.
>>729687181In other words he was careless. Had he done what he should have billions if people wouldn't have suffered due to Vader
>>729687021In the novelization, Obi-Wan sees the Emperor's shuttle fly overhead right as Anakin bursts into flame and knows he has to leave immediately. He considers mercy killing Anakin, but determines that he doesn't have time to do it and get out before the Emperor would arrive.Which makes a hell of a lot more sense than "I can't bear to kill my best friend so I'll leave him to burn to death slowly in agony."

>>729686359>He wiped out the jedi and ended their one-sided dominance.Nigga that's Disney's retarded canon. It should be one sided, jedi are the right thing and they should be the only thing existing. Though the Jedis did become arrogant so they kinda deserved to get wiped by Anakin.
>>729688273>Blizzard unveils a new hidden continent>Southrend the true hidden, origin of the Nerubians, Vrykul and undead who have actually been around even before the Shadowlands
>>729688357The Jedi weren't able to listen to the will of the Force anymore and had become stagnant, dogmatic, and arrogant. Anakin balanced the Force by killing Palpatine and destroying the Sith, but he also fixed the Jedi by hitting the reset button and allowing his son to build a new Jedi Order that wasn't retarded. Fixing the Jedi was a bonus objective by the Force, not tied to the original balancing of the Force.
>>729688621Agreed but I wouldn't say that fixing the Jedi order is a "bonus objective" for the Force. Qui Gon respected and followed the will of the Force, he was the ideal monk that only cared about maintaining the balance of the Force. I think that for Lucas, Luke probably became a Jedi like Qui Gon and created a Jedi order that would be in harmony with the Force.
The situations are not even remotely the same. Anakin has given up everything for pussy while Arthas made a hard decision to the best of his ability and experience to protect humanity. Also with Anakin the entire Jedi council shares blame, they were all utterly retarded and have poorly guided him every step of the way, Obi Wan honestly did the least wrong. Uther is such a piece of shit it's honestly unreal. He provided no alternative, he didn't advice his student. He just abandoned him immediately like a little bitch. Uther is genuinely the worst mentor you can have.

>>729685902Uther was shitting on Arthas since day 1. At Hearthglen, he straight-up insults Arthas' capabilities, shouts Arthas down when he stands up for himself, and doesn't talk to Arthas about the undead until Stratholm, at which point it's too late. All Uther needed to do was listen to Arthas. He couldn't have fucked up harder.

>>729685902Ben was closer to a "bro" master rather than a proper master. Annie's main problem was he needed a father figure master.
>>729689791What really gets me about Uther's 2righteous4u bullshit is that if he really, truly felt that purging Stratholme was unconscionable; then he has the duty to fight Arthas and stop him from committing what Uther views as mass murder of their own people. Instead he just walks away.He would have been wrong to fight Arthas. He would have been a traitor fighting for the destruction of Lordaeron. But at least he would be acting consistently with his stated morals. Walking away after telling Arthas it literally doesn't matter how fucked Stratholme already is makes him a hypocrite and a fraud.
Warcraft 3 has an extremely poorly written story so I'm not even sure if Uther really was supposed to look like the biggest piece of shit imaginable. Meanwhile Obi Wan is the best written character in the prequels and played by the best actor of the prequels so it's not really a fair comparison.
>>729689816You just sound like you're parroting youtubers or random people on the internet if you think the entire EU was bad. Given that most people here do that anyways as default I don't know if you're proud of that fact or not or even register it as part of your personality now.

>>729688273as I far as I remember that Pandaria is the "Southrend" so to speak, not that it makes any sense from a geographical point of view or with all the new land masses found between Lordaeron and Northrend
>>729688621>The Jedi weren't able to listen to the will of the Force anymoreAre you missing the part where the fucking Sith were responsible for that?
>>729690664So the "true paladins" thought Arthas was clearly in the wrong but just let him do like he wants. Like someone else said, no matter how you spin it, the paladins and Uther always look like retarded hypocritical cowards because they just walked away instead of doing literally anything else, including just fighting Arthas for their beliefs.
>>729690664Those civilians are already dead. They're either going to be killed by the forces of Lordaeron and have their deaths be meaningful in preventing the fall of the kingdom, or they're going to be ripped apart by the walking corpses of their friends and family en route to the complete and total destruction of Lordaeron under the tidal wave of zombies that would spill forth from Stratholme.
>>729690875I'm not talking about the clouding of their ability to see the future, I'm talking about being such inflexible dip shits that their head librarian tells Obi-Wan Kenobi that a planet that obviously exists due to physics can't be real because if it isn't in the infallible Jedi Archives, it doesn't exist. They don't listen to the obvious realities of the world, they know best because they just do. There's a reason Qui-Gon Jinn, the guy who understood the Force well enough to be the first Jedi allowed into Space Heaven was always in friction with the Order.
>>729690875Surely Palpy couldn't cloud all of them?
Funny how the events of the entire SW saga post-Phantom Menace could have been avoided if Maul never killed Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan was a total fuck up as a teacher even though he was a decent guy. He wasn’t that helpful to Luke beyond starting him off on his quest either.
>>729690875It's more they decided to build their temple on top of a concentrated mass of dark side for whatever reason.
>>729691436>He wasn’t that helpful to Luke beyond starting him off on his quest either. If it were up to Yoda and Obi-Wan, Luke would have killed his own father and either fell to the Dark Side becoming the new Vader or just died, leaving Palpatine to rule unopposed forever. The pre-Luke Jedi were so retarded and unwilling to learn from their mistakes, it's bananas.
>>729690875The Sith got stronger over time because the Jedi refused to open themselves to what The Force was telling them, they thought they were invincible, infallible, that the idea of evil returning in any form was impossible. Its the equivalent of a tumor growing inside your brain and every week you get a migraine.
>>729691464Wasn’t it explicitly because Palpatine was clouding their thoughts? That’s why they were able to figure out that there was a Sith in their ranks, but not who that Sith was.
>>729691674In ye olde novels, Plagueis explains that his master's master metaphorically shanked the Force and its bleeding was throwing the Force out of balance and making it harder for the Jedi to connect fully with it.I think in Disney Rat canon, Palpatine routinely does Sith rituals in his goon cave to cloud the Jedi's connection to the Force.
It's not their fault that their protoges were psychopaths.
>>729691579I always did think it was kind of weird how Lucas holds such a high opinion of Obi-Wan and Yoda especially, when the PT and OT show that Qui-Gon and Luke are the only competent Jedi.
>>729686779>or maybe he did but since he was a war general it just got brushed off.one of the problems with the prequels is that they basically skip most of the clone wars, because a lot of really important stuff for annakin's descent into becoming darth vader happens during this time.
>>729692014>Luke
>>729686708were*those games are older than me unc
>>729692102? NTA but he's literally the quintessential jedi and saved the galaxy. How is he not competent? Unless of course you're a Disney shill and think anyone considers that sIop canon
>>729692064I think in the movies you’re given enough to get the key points of what caused his downfall (His emotional instability, his attachments to loved ones, and the Council not taking him seriously despite his talent). I feel as though all the stuff that’s revealed in TCW animated series is either just reiterating those points or mentioning something you could reasonably infer anyway.
>>729692229I highly recommend you give the WCIII campaign a try my little zoomzoom friend. It's quite good
>>729692243Even if you just look at OT how is he competent? He struggles against mid enemies even at his peak at return of the jedi. If Anakin didn't have a change of heart they would have failed. Luke only becomes a competent master Jedi somewhere after OT and then he becomes some kind of senile retard in the disney trilogy.
>>729692512Why are you pretending Luke wasn't the one who redeemed Anakin?
>>729692064Padme was responsible for Anakin's fall.
>>729692512He was competent in terms of adhering to the Jedi’s philosophy and following the will of the Force. The other Jedi were better fighters, but aside from Qui-Gon, they all made at least one major fuck up along the way.
>>729692590Only partially. If Anakin wasn’t extremely insecure and attachment issues, he could have easily had a relationship with Padme without becoming overly attached. Kind of like what Obi-Wan did with Satine.
>>729692512>If Anakin didn't have a change of heart they would have failed. This only happened because Luke decided to show compassion to his father and believed in the goodness that was still in him. This is in sharp contrast to the failed Jedi who wanted Luke to cut Vader down. It was the literal only move that could have led to the salvation of the galaxy. There was quite literally no other way to defeat Darth Sidious.Just as the Force intended from the very start.
>>729692585Even if that was the case you are wholly giving Luke the jedi the credit for this feat even if it's a very fair point to make that Luke the son of Anakin is the main reason for the change of heart.
>>729690957>So the "true paladins" thought Arthas was clearly in the wrong but just let him do like he wants>IM CALLING MY DAD UTHER GET THE FUCK OUTYeah I wonder why the true paladins did nothing.Still less retarded than killing innocent civilians and traveling across the world to follow a demon that is literally bating your ass, but keep being a retarded nigger.>>729691015>Those civilians are already dead.Ok nigger, worthless argument. You still killed innocent people, good job retard. That's the only fact that matter.
>>729692819>>729692924SW is largely a Christian allegory, which is why the main message of the movies is how love and forgiveness saves the day. Also, Lucas was a boomer who grew up around the hippy movement, so he internalised a lot of their philosophy.

>>729692805>Kind of like what Obi-Wan did with Satine.Obi-Wan resolved his forbidden relationship crisis by completely abandoning the relationship despite being deeply in love with Satine to the point where they're still clearly not over each other after multiple entire decades apart, it's not really comparable to Anakin's situation at all.
>>729694343>George wanted to do the same thing with Obi-Wan and PadmeOh Obi-Wan was gonna pump some midochlorians into her exhaust pipe before Anakin could?
>>729695134So your entire point why Luke is supposedly the most competent Jedi is because he won at the end in the generic good guys wins at the end story? Despite him being a complete dork in every Jedi discipline and fairly weak?
>>729695525Post has the same energy as the limp-wristed>space wizards with laser swordsargument. Yes faggot, he won. He made the right choice. He saved the galaxy.
>>729695525>Despite him being a complete dork in every Jedi discipline and fairly weak?Luke spent 4 years between ANH and ROTJ teaching himself and learning in battle as a soldier of the Rebel Alliance. He only went back to Dagobah after spending a month there, during Yoda's death but before that it was all him. Hes basically a no-name, RPG protagonist starting out from nothing and getting stronger with each encounter. He can't be weak or ineffective especially when he has to teach himself lightsaber combat and force abilities.
>>729695691>between ANH and ROTJHell yeah Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire
Arthas did nothing wrong.
>>729695678Leia won too, is she the most competent Jedi too?>>729695691We have seen his feats in ROTJ and he was unimpressive in all disciplines. Literally at the beginning of the film he struggled against super weak enemy forces.
>>729695691Tbf, destroying the big bad’s super weapon less than a week after leaving your home is a level of progress even most RPG protagonists struggle to keep up with.
>>729695904Who the fuck is talking about Leia? What kind of braindead strawman cope is this? Go away.
>>729696057Your entire reasoning why Luke is the most competent Jedi is because of his plot armor in OT while ignoring being complete shit at all Jedi disciplines when on screen. Also fuck this dishonest arguing. We have seen that Leia is the stronger Jedi in Disney trilogy and that Luke is incompetent as fuck since he is responsible for Kylo Ren.
>>729695904>Literally at the beginning of the film he struggled against super weak enemy forcesDid we watch the same movie where hes on a small ship and protecting himself and two other hostages from being shot at by criminals and a feared bounty hunter?
>>729695972>destroy gigaweapon>100,000 EXP>restricted to one level increase at a time>was already 99% of the way to levelling after escaping the death star and getting to yavinShould've bullseyed a womp rat before they left.
>>729696217Oh wow a few goons and a feared bounty hunter pushes the shit in of the most competent Jedi? Amazing.
>>729685902The prequels made Obi-Wan extremely boring.
>>729696195>Yidsney trilogyNoncanon sIop. You will hence-forth be ignored for being an unbelievable faggot.
>>729696195The what trilogy? What are you talking about? Did you hit your head?
>>729696306Acting like an obnoxious faggot to defend a poor point you made isn't a good way to win an argument.
>>729696308>>729696362Oh no, the delusional fanboy retards are heavily coping and ignoring all evidence against their narrative. Who would have thought.
>>729696418There are like 20-30 Jedi in the franchise who would have slaughtered everything in ROTJ without even breaking a sweat. Just stop coping already, you have zero arguments for Luke being competent. He used some naruto talk no jutsu bullshit on vader, that's his only feat.
If you played pala rifle ever leave this board now
>>729690324>me the moment my opponent has been unfairly distracted, he has turned his back, time out has been called, the bell has rung, and I've begged repeatedly and publicly for the match to stopI didn't hear no bells.
>>729685902Uther was a dick. thread over
>Disney homo thinks anyone cares about his shit takes
>>729696587Lucas did originally describe lightsabers as being heavy. He didn't intend for them to be jumping around, that was a later change.Maybe he shouldn't have done that and stayed consistent, but he did. If it had been that way from the start, Luke and Vader would have been backflipping all over Palpatine's throne room.
>>729696720Lucas took the paycheck to sell his baby.Mark Hamill took the paycheck to look like a fat retard that drinks alien milk. Lucas and Mark raped Luke and ruined his legacy, Lucas sold the strings, Mark sold his soul.
>>729697003Oh hi Trey and Matt
>>729697003You're not wrong. But I think you're grossly overestimating how many actual Star Wars fans consider anything that came after Lucas canon. When people rewatch the saga 99/100 times they're watching 1-6. The only """people""" engaging with the meat puppet that is Disney Wars are the absolute lowest of the low disney adult consoomers, and even then they immediately forget star wars exists and move on to the newest shit fed to them by the mainstream sIop conveyer belt. It's just not taken seriously.
>>729696948There were tech limitations involved in the OT fights, but you notice the fights getting gradually flasher with each film. By the time the Prequels came around, no such limitations existed.
>>729697225Even if you pretend it's not canon. Seeing your childhood hero being raped like this is like seeing your father getting raped. Even if it was against his will, you can never respect your father again to the same degree as before he was raped.
>>729697003Given how much of a mess the production of the sequels was it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Mark signed a contract for three movies before the second film had so much as a vague sketch of the outline of a plot.
>>729697280Anon was your father raped
>>729697287You can tell in interviews that Mark was disappointed with the Sequels. He had high hopes going in, but he was begrudgingly doing it by the second film.
