>Come on, Gordon! We've got to defeat the Combine!

I feel sorry for anyone who spent thousands of dollars on a VR setup just to play this game and have Gabe Newell shit in your face again.

I choose to believe that Valve retconned ep2's ending purely to spite Marc Laidlaw after he released his (legally distinct) intentions for the ending of Half-Life. Which is even funnier because Marc released that blogpost purely to spite Valve because of how fucking inactive they are and how often they would scrap projects and ideas related to a sequel of HL2.

>the only progress we've gotten in 20 years was to just retcon the end of 2
unreal. I don't even want to think about it. All this profit and yet turned their backs on the very audience that built Valve up. Let Counter-Strike, the very first FPS to spearhead the movement of internet multiplayer games, to rot. Team Fortress 2, one of the most influential, to rot. Now Half-Life as well. Portal. It's all gone to shit.

You certainly didn't spend thousands of dollars, since dollars aren't used in your country. What is it? Rupees? Real? Dinars?

I've been doing some research into VR to determine if the frame is worth it and I'm discovering every VR focused YouTuber is fucking cringe, they are so gay its putting me off buying a headset. I don't know how to describe it other than it feels like a bunch of zoomer normies and futurist grifters got access to videogames for the first time in their lives and are now soifacing over total shit, the audience feels like the same people who exclusively play MMORPGs.

Is VR really that dead that it turned into some gay cult?

and lets not forget the tireless contributions of the Artifact community

>>729701000
hi you've discovered 'selling', it's when you ham up your reaction to something to either generate channel traffic or move a specific product.

I can break it down for you; you can get a headset and play a solid 2-5 games for years, everyone has a good two or so, but other than that it will probably sit on your desk/shelf and collect dust outside of being busted out for a bustin' session every so often (the world of VR porn is amazing and if you aren't retarded and know how to navigate menus and move files entire worlds are open to you in things like virtamate or with UEVR modding.) On that note UEVR games open up an entire new set of shit you can play but it really depends on if you can stomach or even like playing flat screen games 3D. Personally I think it's kind of gay and I'd rather interact with the game's world and take advantage of the medium but that's me, there are some solid games that utilize this setup like Star Citizen if you PC can handle it and with the addition of a decent flight stick it elevates things to an entirely new level. For me I will sometimes pick up my headset maybe one or two times a week, peter around VRChat for a few hours and see what sick shit is happening there, maybe play some Hot Dogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades or No Man's Sky and leave it.

It's not a total waste of money in my case but the library of games could certainly do with some bulking up. Don't listen to people that say there are no games at all though, there are, you just have to sift through the proof-of-concepts and arcade games.

I don't know, part of it is them hamming it up and overselling their reactions but the entire VR subculture feels weird and artificial. I dip in and out of plenty of niche gaming subcultures, like racing sim, fighting games, flight sims ect... they all require expensive peripherals and have weird gamers who focus on a narrow band of games but they feel like real enthusiasts, everyone who is into VR acts like a reddit normie who has never played a game in their life, also they are cringe and hard to watch.

I think its because its a magnet for the most obnoxious combination of gamers, its MMO ERP trannies who live in VR chat and retards who are obsessed with immersion who don't give a shit about game mechanics.

I don't want any of the hand waggling VR shit, I just want to sit in cockpits and drive fictional vehicles but the support seems shaky at best.

Tomorrow.

>>729686701
Why is he handing you the nastiest blunt?
>>
>>729703153
Because you're always seeing the same over enthusiast youtube shills.
There's plenty of mellow VR enthusiast that actually play one type of game like sim racing and would never go back to triple but they have more reasonable opinions about where the medium is and what trade off you're making getting X brand of headsets.
It's simple, you see all the faggot like gamertagtv, matteo, gamerdad, fastlawyer and all those cunts just blacklist the channels.
>>
>>729703384
Who isn't a gay retard then? I don't have this problem when finding people to keep me up to date and aid with purchasing decisions in other gaming niches.

>>
>>729692669
It's just a walking simulator. Once in a while get into a gunfight. The gunfights are pretty enjoyable but they are very easy.
The only really fun part is right at then end when you enter the final section.

>>729692990
What about that cosmic horror one where they set the scale in such a way as to give you gigantophobia for the rest of your life?
Can't remember the name.

I don't watch YouTubers in regards to tech review or game review stuff really. I just bought VR because I watched a lot of TNG/DS9 as a kid and wanted a holodeck. You don't really require super expensive peripherals unless you're playing a hardcore sim game. Most games allow you to substitute with any old bluetooth/USB controller, though it's obviously not as 'immersive'. I will say your first time playing a REAL VR game like Boneworks or Alyx will have you basedfacing and basically doing that Dean bit from Community when he tries out VR for the first time but it's just how it is. You can't really comment until you try it out, if you're genuinely curious on if you want the experience and aren't afraid of germs (even though they say they sanitize the kits in-between use) head out to a VR cafe/arcade and try out a few games. Even the rudimentary arcadey shit that has some level of tactile interaction within its' game world should give you an idea of if you actually want to play the system. Try before you buy, if you will.

why did eli hand gordon a crowbar here
in this context gordon already has one, he picked it up at the beginning of episode 2

I should add that No Man's Sky has in-world manipulation of your ship and environment around you, you're not turning ALL of the dials but it's a degree of interactivity with the world with flight sticks you control with your hands and such. Derail Valley is a pretty fun and completely in-game experience that you control entirely with your hands, no peripherals, you're toggling all the switches and turning all the dials, pulling all the switches, etc. etc.

You just need to dig or hang around here for VR threads to get some solid recommendations. A lot of UEVR games (like 90% of the library) can be played in VR using an xinput controller to play with you being able to move around and observe in the world.

what happened to the rumours of hlx getting announced this year and shit
niggers here said this time it's real
>>
Again and again Gabe has said that Valve has moved past Half-Life and isn't interested in the franchise anymore.

No refunds.
>>
>>729708638
It's Valve time. Being too certain about any specific date or year is likely to lead to disappointment. The game is still in development but Valve probably just internally delayed it. It'll most likely be next year.
>>
>>729708640
They have said that in the past, before Alyx. Since Alyx, they have said the opposite, that they're interested in working on Half-Life and think there's room to innovate again, multiple times, even.
>>
>>729708480
Well now he has two.
>>
>>729686701
This ending confuses me. Does this mean there are 2 Alyx? One from the original timeline and one from the new timeline. Or is the G-Man contracted Alyx the only one, replacing the original?
>>
>>729712065
Just one I think
Gman doesn't like to leave a lot of loose ends
