I'm not capable of self-motivation enough to learn abstract processes like game making. I've even mentally streamlined and lowered my scope/expectation to the point it's at a flash game-tier and I still have no idea how to actually start or learn coding. The task seems too daunting. I never "learned how to learn".

I'm trying to turn this into an actual game. You're in a scifi AC-130 doing CAS for some dudes on the ground against waves of bugs

Currently the dudes on the ground get overwhelmed too easily. Maybe I make it so they're capable of holding their own but they've got finite ammo reserves and your job is to help stretch that ammo for long enough that their evac dropship arrives and they can leave.

There used to be in 2016 before the jeetpocalypse where almost every single game dev anything is just utter slop and incorrect advice. Then again, even back then, Unity content was trash and most unreal content was just "hey I bought 2 assets, let's set them up!"
Most on youtube are youtubers, they are not actual game devs that understand anything.

Yes and no. It can give you a foundation and the how-to on working through processes, but if all you do is copy and paste what it gives you, you're going to end up with a buggy, unoptimized, or outright broken mess more often than not (which is precisely why Windows 11 is so trash). So if you intend to use AI to help with coding, you're going to need to learn a bit about coding yourself in order to optimize and debug it, which by themselves are valuable skills in software development. And you can even use the AI to help with debugging too.
AI is a very helpful tool in game development, but it is many years off from being able to do everything for you. If nothing else, it's a great motivator in making everything seem significantly more possible for you regardless of skill level, which is the whole reason I've been able to start working on my game in the first place. Faggot youtubers are somehow worse at teaching me how to use my engine and write my code than ChatGPT.

Spent whole day fixing an annoying bug related to raycasts in Godot. Apparently they will retain old collision data after being removed from the tree... when added back in they think they still collided with something and remove themselves from the tree again.

I am plinking away at 3d stuff and handpainted textures
any ideas on how to improve the floor texture? Ignore the tiling issues, UV unwrapping to pixel perfect borders causes bleeding that looks worse. I need to take and make the image a few pixel larger to add a margin to the trimsheet textures.

You are right though, because despite this gamedev youtubers have been shit at helping me learn anything. I found exactly ONE good one (for RPG Maker specifically) many years ago but they've since disappeared from the platform. I've yet to find one who even came close to how good they were at teaching, even for other engines. ChatGPT of all things has been extremely helpful in this regard.

Redoing the art of all the monsters. Just redid the Kobold models and textures, trying to think of some abilities for them. The shaman/warlock dude will get a sticky fire ability that leaves patches of burning ground because that seems pretty cancer but I'm not sure what to give the warriors...

The only one of my games that ever sold was a porn game. It made a substantial amount, but I don't sell it any more because it makes me feel ashamed and anxious.
