>>7297127072's level design was reduced to hallways where 1 had more mazelike design for a lot of worlds and better platforming elements. the combat in 2 is definitely smoother with a lot of QOL features to make it feel better but the combat in 1 is more thoughtful and deliberate. while 2 is a great game, it is a shame that they went down the path of making the series more smooth and streamlined as it eventually became the downfall of the series.
I prefer 1's gameplay, honestly. The only thing I like that 2 did better than 1 is that 2 allows you to incorporate magic spells into your combos rather than them being a strictly separate thing.

They both have completely different atmosphere and feeling and both are rare and nostalgic.The over the top Linkin park emo chuuni shit from the early 2000s makes kh2 special.The classic "Dedicated Disney VHS tape cabinet" 90s Disney special sauce of KH1 that made it something special.If you weren't a 90s kid that knew how special both final fantasy and Disney were in the 90s to every kid then you can't understand KH1 and it's feeling.If you didn't experience the Linkin park skater emo era you won't understand KH2.In retrospect I'm actually glad they made KH3 have skrillex dubstep since it is a unique era as well however the game came out years after that era ended so it doesn't have the same soul. Had KH3 came out right in the middle of the dubstep craze and have some more aesthetics and feelings of that era as well it probably would also hold a special place in our heart.People that think it's about the story or gameplay instead of the mood/tonal piece that these games are, are completely misunderstanding their appeal.

Only good for bailing newbies (or shitters) out of situations that should have killed them (or using berserk strats/cheesing Xigbar), because almost every other spell would serve you much better in kiting, extending combos, etc.>Goofy and Donald were pretty helpful tooDonald and Goofy kinda suck outside of KH1. In 2 they're relegated to Limit/Drive fodder because they can't really do much else on harder difficulties with how much faster the game has gotten (also Donald's magic took a serious nerf).
