Have some combination of keystone abilities, stats, and/or utility to their race. Effectively must haves in some way.
>A tier
The combination of stats, abilities, and utility are less than S tier because some part of ability or utility is lacking. Farseer has no real 3rd ability or a useful ult. Warden strongly influences player's strategy to be a certain way. Sea Witch is mostly just a slow machine unless you really want her to do lightning burst.
>B tier
Only useful as secondary/third hero unless you're doing some weird strat. Abilities are good for the most part still.
>C Tier
Not as bad as D tier, but they're sure as hell not B tier.
>D Tier
Either bad abilities in terms of utility or are inflexible as fuck. Can be used but it's like deciding to cripple your arms in a boxing match. You can do it, not sure why you would if you wanted to win though.

If 30% of the characters are S, then the other 70% are in tiers below S. Ergo, the spread still means most heroes are not S rank. Though I question why Paladin is in A and not B. I think he's a cool unit, but as a hero I'd probably always go Archmage or even Mountain King first. He's only marginally better than the Elf who is a niche pick at best.

I'm broadly fine with this list except I think the demon hunter maybe deserves to go in S+ on his own as there is no situation where he can be bad or even effectively counter played in any way. If I was really to nitpick I'd maybe put dreadlord one tier higher but I don't feel that strongly about it

The invul is a bit of a wash as yeah the pala isn't taking damage, you've just spread it to the rest of the army instead, and of all the auras Devotion aura is on the weaker side. Doubly so when in the same race AM have Brilliance aura which means all your casters have more mana over the course of the game, which means more spells. Spells like Dispel or Inner Fire or more Water Elementals and shit like that. Compare that to about 7-23% more armor for nearby units.
